Top 10 Undertale Characters to Feel Bad For
Asriel is the child of King Asgore Dreemurr and Queen Toriel, but he seemingly passed away prior to the game's events. His backstory is only focused on in the True Pacifist Route, which means the player does not kill a single character. As a young child, he was a close friend of Chara, a human child who... read more
My Friend Elliot says that Sans is the Saddest Character. But how when, this guy, Lost the 1 person who was not only his adoptive sister, but also his BFF!? AND THEN GOT STABBED RIGHT IN THE CHEST BY SOME MISUNDERSTANDING HUMANS!?
The game calls it a "happy ending for everybody" if you do the pacifist route. Meanwhile, Asriel is stuck with out a soul as a corrupted flower, and to top it all off he's entirely alone in the underground (aside from the tem watching the egg)
The poor kid dies, becomes flower, sometimes re-dies, thinks his best friend is back, then gets left behind as everyone goes back to a better world.
She just never gets what she wants...
She just wants you to like her...
Honestly, yeah, his backstory is pretty sad in the genocide route, but really in the other routes he's just there for comic relief, and really has a pretty easy life.
HE CONSTANTLY LOSES EVERYTHING HE LOVES! If I must say more he never gets a happy ending. whenever the player finishes pacifist, the dirty brother killer just resets, this time wanting to kill everyone.
He loses his brother so often and is the only one in the underground I just can't explain it. BUT WHY IS PAPYRUS ON THE LIST?!?!?!?
He's depressed, can remember when everyone died, and he cracks jokes to help others around him and not himself.
In the King Papyrus ending, it's hard NOT to feel bad for him. His best friends all disappeared to his new human friend, Sans has to do the work for him and tells him his friends went on vacation, and meanwhile Papyrus only wants to see his friends again, and is overworked trying to encourage everyone and confused. Good luck with that.
He just doesn't get some things.
He just can't be popular
I mean how does it eat drink sleep or do anything a mean its probley very lonley will anybody pet him?
I seriously don't even understand why Asgore is so low on this list, yeah, Asriel probably does have a sadder story than Asgore but- WHY IS SANS ABOVE ASGORE?! Seriously though, before you say "bUT SANS UNDERTAL LOST HIS BROTHER IN THE GENOCIDE ROUT! 111! 11! " Asgore lost both of his children, his wife left him, and since almost ALL of his subjects are counting on him to kill- something that makes him very uncomfortable- I'm pretty sure he's more depressed than Sans or Papyrus-
Asgore canonically sacrifices himself for you in a Neutral Ending, should you kill Flowey- aka, he basically takes his life. If that isn't depressing, then I don't know what is. And people say Sans has it worse than Asgore. I mean, for cripes sake, Sans hasn't even been confirmed to remember the resets- at least he has his brother, whilst Asgore has literally no one to lean on!
Asgore should be in top 3 for sure. He lost his children, wife left him in the times he needed her the most. He lost hope and in anger declared war. Something he regreted lately. But he is a king. He was the only hope for all the monsters.
So he has to keep his promise even that he hates himself for doing so.
He made a mistake and is paying too big price.
He doesn't see a way out. So he is hoping no human will fall again and that the final war and the extinction of monsters or humans won't happen...
Asgore, is in my opinion, the most tragic character in the game, with no way out in his situation- yet he carries on with his plan for monsterkind regardless. And it just destroys him.
Working for mettaton doesn't sound like the easiest thing in the world...
She's just a lonely, sad mother having lost both her children and divorcing her husband.
because in the genocide route you kill her and she saved you,was very supportive, and nice trying to protect you from asgore, and then you kil the thing
I know what most of you are going to say. "Why feel bad for Chara? They killed EVERYONE, and then forced US to do it," but no. WE did. WE taught them they were ressurected to gain power. Not to mention, they chose one of the most painful deaths you can have to save all of monsterkind, and give them the surface thatthey deserve to live in.
Everybody thinks that she's evil, because they say, "bUT cHarA kiLLeD evEyone! aNd ForcEd FrIsk To gO alOnG wiTh iT!" But no. YOU, the PLAYER, not Frisk, not Chara, was the one that decided to kill everyone. And YOU force them to go along with your plan.
They died trying to save all monsters, and they have to watch us murder their loved ones on a Genocide Run, causing them to become twisted and corrupted. When they gave us what we deserved, people started calling them the bad guy.
Wow. Just... wow.
Chara was a troubled child, between 8 and 12, who made some serious mistakes.
Most of what’s straight-up shown/said about them is... pretty damning. Asriel says that they’re not the greatest person, and they only ever really show up to take Frisk’s SOUL, erase the world, and then (presumably) kill everyone in the golden ending.
But then we take a good, long look at the narration.
We notice how the line "It’s me, Chara" is said in the exact same voice grunting, font, everything as the rest of the narration.
We use our critical thinking skills -- we wonder why they refer to snail pie as an "acquired taste," get excited about toys, know all of Asriel’s attacks, tell jokes about two kids who are presumably the Dreemurr children, and have a very dark line about how if you lie in Chara’s bed (the one they died in), you might not ever get up.
You can tell that the narrator is a child who lived with the Dreemurrs and was very close to Asriel. ...more
How is Flowey NOT above Asriel? Same thing that one of these guys said! He literally IS Asriel except without a soul and he can't feel anything for anyone! its not like he isn't trying! When he first turned into a flower, he was scared and crying! :'(
I can't believe he is below Sans and Chara. He is basically Asriel, but without a soul.
Crippling depression makes this feel so sad.
Depression bites, even if he doesn't
