To be honest while Nirvana may have simple riffs and mediocre lyrics, one thing that made them unique was how they don't go much into lyrics and their purpose is to make solid instrumental work with solid vocals and they did a good job with that. Not the most unique, but pretty unique compared to other bands in the 1990s
