"New York, New York" by Nina Hagen is the strangest song I've ever heard. It's kind of hard to listen to it at first but it grows on you eventually although it hasn't lost that 'weird' quality for me yet.

Moondog was a blind musician who dressed like a Viking and performed his music on the streets of 1950s New York leading many to believe that he was also homeless. He garnered the nickname 'the Viking of 6th Avenue'. His music is a blend of Jazz and classical music yet also highly experimental with a strong emphasis on rhythm. Moondog has gained a strong cult following for his unique style and approach to music making (check out the instruments he invented also! ).
His extreme vocal range, originality and refusal to succumb to the demands of conformist record companies make him to be perhaps the most unique artist on the planet (in my opinion). He is also charming with his fans and can sing better live than in the studio. He is so good that the editing from the studio actually hinders his talent from shining through and hides his true stage personality and aura.
