Top 10 Most Useful Pokemon in a Gen 2 Playthrough

This will be looking at the top 10 pokemon most useful in a Gen 2 playthrough. I will be including the starters as 1 thing.
The Top Ten
1 Ampharos Ampharos is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It evolves from Flaaffy starting at level 30. It is the final form of Mareep. It can Mega Evolve into Mega Ampharos using the Ampharosite, in which it becomes an Electric/Dragon-type.

Ampharos is a powerful pokemon, no doubt, and it can be found right after the first gym. It can be very useful if you got a cyndaquil for your starter, and can be used as an alternative for a grass type due to the lack of grass types early on.

2 Typhlosion Typhlosion, known in Japan as Bakphoon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

This is a pokemon you have from the start, and can come with you to the finish. They have some of the highest stats, and are really useful.

3 Crobat

Crobat is one of the fastest pokemon in the games, and has the typing of poison and flying. Poison is weak to Ground and Steel, but due to a lack of steel types, and ground moves not affecting flying types, you only have to worry about electric, ice, phychic and rock types. There are few physic and ice type moves early on, and really bad electric and rock type moves.

4 Quagsire

Quagsire had only one weakness in grass, and there was a lack of early grass types. Quagsire is a fast pokemon and is an alternative for other pokemon.

5 Heracross Heracross, known in Japan as Heracros, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

In heartgold and soul silver it is quite useful, but in Gold and Silver, while I made quite a good use with it in my team, and that having a pokemon so strong so early is useful, he can't learn any really useful fighting type moves, and can't learn megahorn until really further levels, making it not very good for type coverage for your team, and more importantly prevents it to be useful against Whitney which is very unfortunate.

Heracross is a powerful pokemon that can help you with one of the most powerful gym leaders early on, Whitney.

6 Togetic
7 Sandslash
8 Eevee Eevee, known in Japan as Eievui, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise first introduced in the games Pokemon Red and Blue. Considered as the evolution Pokemon, it has the most evolutions out of all Pokemon species. Eevee can evolve to Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon depending on the method used. It serves as the mascot in the game Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee!
9 Dragonair
10 Victreebel
The Contenders
11 Lapras

I added this one to the list because it is one of the best option for an ice type in the game, and can be useful for surfing. It wrecks Peter's Dragonites especially.

12 Gengar Gengar, known in Japan by the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
13 Weedle Weedle, known in Japan as Beedle, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Too OP. I called my Weedle Mr. Murphy and he massacred everything that stood in our path. Don’t evolve him, Weedle is way better than Beedrill. All you need is poison sting and you’re set. Sunkern is a close second but I had to go Weedle on this one because he has a bit higher stats. Also he so adorbz.

14 Feraligatr Feraligatr, known in Japan as Ordile, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
15 Dragonite Dragonite, known in Japan as Kairyu, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
