What is the point of that claw?

I used to hate Emily so very much with her always getting on my nerves for how she was always so very fussy and bossy in the season 8 episode, Thomas, Emily, and the Snowplough.

Duck WAS going to be in the Steam Team, but was replaced with Emily because they needed a female character because people said there weren't enough girl characters.
