Best Versions of Chuck Berry's Run Rudolph Run
Christmas is almost upon us, and Christmas music has taken a foothold. This list is similar to one of Metal_Treasure's lists, comparing different versions of Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, but I decided instead to look at my favorite rock and roll Christmas song: Run Rudolph Run by Chuck Berry. And just in case you're wondering, yes, I'm including the original. I think it's good enough to be along this list. If I missed your favorite version, don't worry. You can add it to the list.I also like this song and many of its versions! Thanks for the mention!
This one rocks pretty hard. The guitar solo is awesome.
This cover sounds the closest to the original. Dave did a good job of replicating it; the guitar tone even sounds similar.
Keith decided to take this one at an easier pace than most people do.
I genuinely like all versions listed. Was very tempted to go with your personal first choice (which is a fantastic choice for #1 if we're talking covers), but I have to go with Chuck. For me, it really is the best version.
The original. It sounds a lot like the song "Little Queenie", even down to the introduction.
This version was recorded live at Madison Square Garden on December 7th, 1971. Pigpen takes the lead vocals.
It seems so strange to hear them cover a song as relatively innocent as this one, but then again, their big disciples were 50s rock and rollers.
This one has a lot of swing to it. Brian Setzer is no stranger to rock and roll, as most of his fans know.
I think Lemmy's rough voice gives it a rock and roll edge that would otherwise be missing.
This version was recorded live. I don't really care for Bryan Adams, but it's a pretty solid cover.
This version is more of a boogie-woogie than a straight rocker. It has a lot of horns on it.
With some pretty slick harmonica.
