Top Ten Video Game Franchises That Lost Their WaySyndax At first, these franchises were good or amazing, but today...
Today these franchises are now mediocre letdowns...
We're including the list of franchises that went out of their way.
The Top Ten
The first three entries were critical acclaimed WW2 FPS-s. When the fourth installment Modern Warfare was released, it was considered one of the best FPS of all time. The successors WaW, MW2, BLOPS and MW3 were also amazing. What could possible go wrong?
Black Ops II. That's when went downhill. The first part is still Cold War set in the '80s in the arms of Alex Mason. But the second part of the game focuses on his son, David, in 2025. The worst part: Sci-fi style that why. Even with successors Ghosts and AW, the franchise is still on. That is Halo's job, not Call of Duty's! BLOPS2 is going to have a sequel BLOPS3 set in 2065! Shame... - Syndax
One of the iconic mascots of video game industry had it's golden era between 1991-2006. In 2006 the reboot was released to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the franchise. It was bad. Really, really bad. Glitches, clunky controls, camera shooting, speed reduced and the worst part: Princess Elise.
After StH2006 Sonic managed to get up, and after we thought he is back to old himself... BEHOLD! Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric! I have no idea what was Sega thinking but I think they will realize their mistakes and get Sonic up again... - Syndax

Sonic the Hedgehog has been in Mario's shadow for over 25 years and Mario is climbing and Sonic keeps falling. Sonic has so many bad games like: Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic R, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06, Sonic Free Riders, and the most infamous game ever Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric. I can believe Sonic became a great franchise from 1990s then it was ruined by selling their video game rights to some companies that are so bad in so many ways. It's time for Sonic to ether

The first one was solid but it didn't age really well. The sequels and the first one's remake were great and RE4 is considered to be one of the best video games of all time. RE5 was solid, but the AI wasn't. RE6 made a lots of wounds. Action? Over-used. Horror? Non-existant. Revelations 2 somehow managed to get it up, but RE6 left the wounds. - Syndax
The franchise itself was good with it's first release. The golden era of FF was during the 6-9 releases. After the 9th installment, stories were getting weird, gameplay was the same, and even the latest installment wasn't good, but we hope that the sequel will make it good again. - Syndax
Since ODST it's not been the same with the exception of reach - htoutlaws2012
It was simple yet addictive game series that we all enjoyed with cute characters. Act Zero was the game we don't want to see again. How could they make cute characters into horrifying robots in chaotic future?! I mean, seriously... - Syndax
