Top 10 Video Games that are Almost Equally as Overrated as Each Other

The Top Ten

1 Final Fantasy VI & VII and Chrono Trigger

Oh god, where do I even begin on this comparison? Personally, I think I'll just settle for the main five things:

> All three games have incredibly bland and generic "good VS evil" storylines that their fanbases treat like modern-day works of Shakespeare, and unlike Earthbound and Undertale, they overall lack the charm to make up for it and are backed up by only the most boringly generic and predictable of RPG gameplay styles (I feel like it should also be mentioned right about now that Chrono Trigger's world-famous "real-time combat for the first time ever" gimmick that everyone creamed themselves over was already being done in Final Fantasy since all the way back at the series' FIFTH installment, two years before FFVI and THREE before CT)

> Chrono Trigger itself is basically just a ridiculously easy abridged version of Final Fantasy VI but with outrageously flashy graphics (ironically more impressive for the system than FFVII's), teamwork attacks that are WAY more ...more - xandermartin98

2 Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and Majora's Mask

Still less overrated than Link To The Past in my opinion, but that still doesn't excuse them from being here

(Horribly dated graphics in both games, the former basically just being an over-glorified 3D remake of Link To The Past, the tryhard "look at me, I'm so edgy" storyline and uncomfortably short length of the latter, et cetera)

And before you say that Twilight Princess was basically just emo HD Ocarina Of Time, that's what that game got HATED ON for - xandermartin98

3 Undertale and Earthbound Trilogy

Talking about Earthbound and Mother 3 of course

(especially Mother 3, since it and Cave Story were basically the original "saddest game ever" memes) - xandermartin98

4 Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat

The latter is literally just a hyperviolent, even more dumbed-down counterpart to the former, enough said - xandermartin98

5 Danganronpa and Phoenix Wright

Much as I hate to call the former a ripoff of the latter (after all, Phoenix Wright really shouldn't be the only game franchise allowed to do the whole "anime courtroom" shtick), I must admit that neither of these franchises are anywhere even remotely near as intelligent and sophisticated as they make themselves out to be

(For a good example from the former, see the utterly ludicrous amount of sex jokes in Danganronpa 2 especially) - xandermartin98

6 Modern Fallout and Elder Scrolls

It's about time that both of these series returned to their roots, honestly - xandermartin98

7 Super Metroid and Symphony Of The Night

Super Metroid (as a standalone game, not counting all of its ROM hacks) was greatly evolved upon by Zero Mission, Fusion, Another Metroid 2 Remake and Samus Returns, whereas SOTN was IMMENSELY improved upon in many ways by Dawn Of Sorrow, Portrait Of Ruin, Aria Of Sorrow and Order Of Ecclesia

That, and also:

Metroid Prime Trilogy absolutely DESTROYED Super Metroid, actually including its second installment Echoes

Super Cas IV and Rondo Of Blood both had infinitely more gameplay depth and substance to them than SOTN as well - xandermartin98

8 Portal and Portal 2

Portal 1: Way too short, not really trying hard enough to be funny most of the time

Portal 2: Way too long, trying way TOO hard to be funny at least 99% of the time - xandermartin98

9 Parappa The Rapper and Um Jammer Lammy

PTR because even PTR2 was miles better than it and still got shunned in comparison,

UJL thanks to its absolutely insane Rule 34 fandom that wants to lay eggs in Lammy's brain - xandermartin98

10 Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story

Seriously, what was so bad about Partners In Time and Dream Team?

(Oh wait, it's because Fawful wasn't in them as a major villain, isn't it? Yes, he made a CAMEO in the former, but that doesn't count) - xandermartin98
