If you thought the Mario/Zelda CD-i cutscenes were insane...well, they definitely are for sure, but not quite so much when compared to those of THIS
(also, the main character uses a vacuum, a firehose, a live baby, an airplane flight lever and even a straight-up running CHAINSAW as a guitar throughout the game, enough said)
Not NEARLY as demented (especially cutscene-wise) as its Lammy spinoff, but still deserves mention just for having not one but TWO entire music videos subsequently themed around baking seafood cake with a partially-but-not-quite-fully anthropomorphic British chicken who lays her eggs in public and then having to poop after eating it
The REAL trick behind this game's popularity (besides how much it panders to the SJW crowd) is how modestly it was advertised.
Basically, Toby made it seem like it was going to be just your average everyday RPG (minus the whole "not having to kill anyone" thing) and then later went on to COMPLETELY blow our minds with how genuinely bizarre and unorthodox the game turned out while still being self-awarely cliched all the while (trust me, the fact that the game allows you to go on a full-on romantic date with a delusional, pasta-obsessed, Luigi-wannabe manchild skeleton who speaks in Papyrus font is seriously just the BEGINNING with this one)
Honestly, the actual GAME part of the series has developed into a FAR more interesting universe than Phoenix Wright's, and some of its rather impressively outlandish character quirks (and in some cases, even designs) are a huge part of the reason why
Go ahead and let me know the next time you play an RPG where the music and backgrounds for combat are as weird and unsettling as they are in this
On the bottom of the top ten mostly because it's by far the entry that you can most obviously tell is going to be incredibly weird just from looking at it.
