Top 10 Video Games That Killed Their Franchise

The Top Ten
1 Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor

What idiot thought it would be a good idea to take a decent mech game by taking away the iconic steel battalion controller and force you to attempt to try to cooperate with a "broken, poorly made, PlayStation eye knock off that actively hates its players" if you want to play the game (you're not even allowed to use a standard controller). It's still better than ninja gaiden 3 through (at least heavy armor had some attempts at innovation and effort). I have an idea from software, release a next gen version for all hd consoles, fix what was wrong with the game, add 60 frames per second, add new features, and give an option to use either a standard controller, game pad (wii u), or steel battalion controller. There clearly is potential and effort put here capcom, don't let it go to waste. Also stop randomly cancelling megaman games just so you can blame it on the fans.

2 Duke Nukem Forever

Honestly, why isn't this on the list?

3 Star Fox Command

After the release of this abomination, the games in the Star Fox series have ranged from meh at best and insulting at worst.

4 Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness

I'm glad this piece of crap exists, why because crystal took the license off core design's hands to make a proper tomb raider game and reinvent the tomb raider formula to turn something outdated and tired to something that still holds up today with a reboot that's in my opinion better than the uncharted series.

5 Crash: Mind Over Mutant

Actually, Crash Bandicoot got ruined right after Naughty Dog left it.

6 Bubsy 3D

This is sadly the best game in the series, they gave you the option to turn off bubsy's voice, it's 3D so you can actually see what's in front of you, and the health mechanic came back from Busby 2; the game is still horrible however, the level design and gimmicks are uncreative, dull, and non-exist, the game was extremely out-dated when it came out, the 1st boss is confusing, none of the other bosses are impressive in any way, the graphics are interestingly horrible, and the game is so easy and boring.

Bubsy was pretty much a failure from the start this game pretty much finished off his career.

7 Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight
8 Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts

I know that some people are disappointed about this, but come on everybody. This is a good game. Here's the Banjo-Kazooie timeline.
Banjo-Kazooie -> Banjo-Kazooie:Grunty's Revenge -> Banjo-Tooie -> Banjo-Kazooie:Nuts & Bolts
If Rareware was still owned by Nintendo, this is what would it be like.
Banjo-Kazooie -> Banjo-Tooie -> Banjo-Threeie
That's it. Three Banjo-Kazooie games. If they kept milking it to death, the fourth installment would be Banjo-Fourie. What's next? Banjo-Fiveie? That sounds wrong. Let's just move on with our lives. The Banjo-Kazooie series is over, and it's getting a spiritual successor called Project Ukelele.

9 Call of Duty: Ghosts

Huge CoD fan. Ghosts had a good idea with the story line. Loved Riley. But multiplayer could've been so much better. This was sad because CoD is a really great game series and this is what people look at. But MW 2019 is bringing back the series.

10 F-Zero: GP Legend
The Contenders
11 Medal of Honor: Warfighter

Too much disappointed that I didn't tried to end the game.

12 Earthworm Jim 3D

This and Menace 2 the Galaxy killed the franchise very easily because they both aware of how bad they are.

13 Tony Hawk: Shred
14 Alex Kidd and the Enchanted Castle
15 Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

The game itself literally led to its own developer's shutdown. While I've only played this game and not the first Epic Mickey game, I could tell there were still many glaring issues plaguing the sequel that were present from the first. While I praise the game's story and voice acting, the poor camera angling was what really frustrated me sometimes. Either way, it's pretty sad that Epic Mickey failed to spark a complete trilogy and get its third and ideally final game.

16 Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

You clearly haven't played Sonic Boom have you? Cause that game did more damage to this franchise than 06 did. As a matter of fact, it's even worse than 06. Not the best game but I've played worse. So about a 5/10 in my opinion.

17 Bloody Roar 4
18 Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Had potential. When I heard this would have a story mode I was hyped. I always imagined what a story mode in this game series would be like since Marvel vs Capcom 2. It was ok I guess. The game has the smallest roster of the mvc games. It's too bad since mvc 2 had like over 50 characters and it only gotten smaller with each game. Not a terrible game in my opinion. Just didn't live up to the hype.

19 Mega Man X7
20 Darksiders II
21 Mass Effect: Andromeda
22 Mortal Kombat 11

It's keeping the franchise alive last time I checked.

23 Socom 4: U.S. Navy Seals
24 Mortal Kombat Armageddon
25 Guitar Hero

Stupid remakes milking the franchise...
