Top 10 Villains You Rooted For

Fictional villains you wanted to see win some sort of victory.
The Top Ten
1 Thanos - Avengers: Infinity War Thanos is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by Jim Starlin and Mike Friedrich. The character first appeared in Iron Man #55 and has been portrayed by actors Damion Poitier and Josh Brolin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Only talking about Infinity War by the way, nobody rooted for him in Endgame. In Infinity War, his motives become clear. He thinks he's doing the right thing, but he doesn't realize the awful that comes out of it, and neither do a lot of us.

2 Loki - The Avengers Loki Laufeyson, or Loki Odinson, is a fictional character appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is the adoptive brother and archenemy of Thor, and is known as the "God of Mischief". In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character has been portrayed by Tom Hiddleston.

In the first Avengers movie, he's a terrible person, yet so likable. The way he does all of his villainous acts, the way he talks, etc. I did root for the Avengers in this film too, but I can't deny that I wanted to see Loki get some sort of victory.

3 Walter White - Breaking Bad Walter "Walt" Hartwell White Sr. is a fictional character and the main protagonist of Breaking Bad, portrayed by Bryan Cranston.

He generally isn't considered a villain since he's the main character, but his acts of evil are pretty much worse than anyone else in the show. Meth empire, prison massacre, seeks and carries out harsh revenge, sold Jesse to actual slavery, kills anyone and doesn't care, poisoned a child, etc. We still root for him though, since you naturally feel for the main protagonist.

4 Darth Vader - Star Wars Darth Vader is a Star Wars character and the main antagonist of the first three original Star Wars films and the main protagonist of the Star Wars prequel trilogy under his original name Anakin Skywalker. He had been trained as a Jedi but defected to the Sith lord and Galactic Chancellor Palpatine... read more

He isn't a villain, technically, but he's enough for this list. Every time Vader was on, you wanted him to do something badass and kill a couple of good guys, particularly in Rogue One.

5 Light Yagami - Death Note Light Yagami is a fictional character and the protagonist of the manga series Death Note, created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.

Yes, I said it. Even after he killed you-know-who. He's another character where you feel for him since he's the main protagonist and you naturally want him to win, no matter how many horrible things he's done. He's like the other characters and has justifiable motives, thinks he's doing the right thing when he really isn't.

6 The Joker - The Dark Knight The Joker is a fictional super villain created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson who first appeared in the debut issue of the comic book Batman (April 25, 1940) published by DC Comics. Credit for the Joker's creation is disputed; Kane and Robinson claimed responsibility for the Joker's design,... read more

Particularly The Dark Knight film. He was easily the best aspect of that movie, with his acting and dialogue. He's a madman anarchist, yet the writers made him so likable. You don't even care about his backstory, you just want him to blow up something or do something that'll negatively affect the good guys.

7 Plankton - SpongeBob SquarePants Sheldon James Plankton, or simply Plankton, is a character in the Nickelodeon animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants.

Every single time I watched Plankton try to get the formula, I included myself rooting for him, probably you too. You sort of feel bad for him every time he fails. You want him to get the formula successfully at least once.

Yup, I just feel terrible for him. Mr. Krabs is a character I really hate to bits and pieces and infuriates me so much. Plankton has a much better heart than him.

8 Hannibal Lecter - The Silence of the Lambs Dr. Hannibal Lecter is a character in a series of suspense novels by Thomas Harris. Lecter was introduced in the 1981 thriller novel Red Dragon as a forensic psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer.

In The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal is morally one of the worst characters in all of film. Another character where the writers made you love him. We always want to watch him do or say something horrible or disgusting.

9 Cersei Lannister - Game of Thrones Cersei Lannister is a fictional character created by American author George R. R. Martin. She is a prominent point of view character in Martin's award-winning A Song of Ice and Fire series, and also a main character in HBO's adaptation of the series, Game of Thrones.

I'm putting this one low on the list since I mainly rooted for the heroes in Game of Thrones, but watching her get revenge on her enemies and seeing her burn the Great Sept of Baelor was a satisfying sight. Seeing her obtain the throne in Season 6 wasn't all that angering or anything either.

10 Bill Cipher - Gravity Falls Bill Cipher is a triangular dream demon formerly existent only in the mindscape who wished to gain access to the real world. He has been running amok in Gravity Falls, Oregon since being summoned by Stanford Pines over thirty years ago. He is known for his mysterious demeanor and sadistic humor. He... read more

I'm putting this one particularly low on the list since I personally mostly rooted for the heroes in Gravity Falls, but every time Bill was there, he easily stole the show. His demise was satisfying, but seeing him reign supreme over Gravity Falls was pretty cool.

An awesome villain! Though I love the main characters of Gravity Falls, he is still really cool, and his voice is amazing!
