Top 10 Walt Disney Animation Studios Movies with the Best Animation

This was going to be Disney movies with the best animation, but that list is already taken. I didn't find that out until I was almost done making it. So I decided to just focus on specifically the Walt Disney Animation Studios movies. I also had to remove the 3 Pixar movies I had on this list, unfortunately.
The Top Ten
1 Fantasia

Is there such thing as a Disney movie that's better than Fantasia! No! No there's not! But I wouldn't call it my favorite animated movie. That would be Spirited Away. Which I will talk more about in my next list! The thing that makes this movie so creative is that they were able to make animated segments that match certain types of music. And the animation still looks fantastic after all these years! It is such a visual masterpiece! The Night on Bald Mountain segment is a perfect example of how beautiful the movie looks. Since the tone of that scene is supposed to be dark, they made it look as creepy and dark as possible. Each animated segment matches the tone of their music perfectly! A lot of detail went into creating these scenes. Fantasia is the best Disney movie ever!

This movie pretty much IS about the animation, of course it's #1!

2 Aladdin

This is the most fun and beautiful animation I've seen in a Disney movie! My god! It is amazingly awesome! The animators really have some talent! The scenery in Agrabah looks so great and has a lot of detail put into it! The Whole New World scene looks very gorgeous and very romantic! It does a great job at emphasizing the romantic feelings that Aladdin and Jasmine have for each other! The Cave of Wonders is done with 3D animation and it blends in perfectly! They also did a great job at making Jasmine look very hot! No wonder Aladdin really likes her. However, the scenes involving the Genie are what stand out! That whole Friend Like Me musical number has so much happening in it in only 2 minutes and it is so entertaining to watch! The different things that the Genie turns into really show that the animators were having fun! This movie's animation definitely made this a very entertaining movie!

3 Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Tale as old as time! This movie came out in 1991 but it still looks gorgeous! There are so many good things to say about the animation! One thing I really like is that Belle was the only one in her town who wore blue. This was done to show how unique and different she was from the rest. I also really like the design of the castle. Looks scary but charming at the same time. The design of the Beast is absolutely brilliant! He looks very scary but he's designed in a way that also causes us to care for him. I also loved the ballroom scene! There was some CG used in that scene but it perfectly matches with the 2D animation! It really sets the romantic mood! Everything in this movie looks very creative! Unlike... never mind.

4 Zootopia

Zootopia! A place where anyone can be anything! Even a pornstar! The city of Zootopia looks amazing! It is such a huge city and everything about it looks very creative! It looks like a realistic town while at the same time looking like a town for animals! And as for the characters, they are designed very well! They look like real animals but walk like humans. The fur on some of them look very realistic! Some animated films usually have characters in the background that just stand around and don't move at all because they're not what we're supposed to be focusing on, but every single character in this movie, even the background characters, move in some sort of way. The animation is very well done and very original!

Such a awesome movie! With awesome animation quality! I love how realistic the animal designs are. Each hair was put on one at a time. Every background character is doing something. Applause. - AnimalsLover

5 The Hunchback of Notre Dame

I love this movie! It is incredible! And I especially like the animation! This movie goes for kind of a dark tone and the animation really emphasizes that. Especially during the Hellfire scene. That scene is quite possibly the darkest moment in Disney history! And for good reason! They also managed to make Frollo's death scene both scary and awesome at the same time! The Whole design of the town looks amazing! Whenever it shows us a birdseye view, it makes me wish I lived there. As for Quasimodo, he was created to look ugly but only to the characters in the movie. They still managed to make him look appealing to the audience so we can actually care about him and feel sorry for him since he's being treated like a monster. This movie is very underrated and I just love the animation!

6 The Lion King

The Lion King is one of the best Disney films ever made. And it is animated very beautifully! This environment that the animals line looks very gorgeous! The animals themselves also look great! During the beginning scene with the sun rising, gorgeous! And the view of all the animals during the Circle of Life scene shows how much work the animators had to go through! And the scenery of the Be Prepared scene looks very ominous to emphasize that Scar is evil. And in the scene where Mufasa dies, they make it feel so much like a real death which makes it even more emotional. I still can't believe they're remaking this movie. The photo realistic animals will look cool but it won't have the same charm that the original had. The remake is going to suck! It comes out July 19, 2019 by the way.

7 Tangled
8 Frozen

There are actually people who are saying that Frozen's animation is terrible. People are just looking for reasons to hate this movie now. The movie isn't a masterpiece but the animation still looks fantastic! And it really stands out when Elsa uses her ice powers! The look of the ice looks very real! The animators also managed to make each snowflake look different! I also love the movement of Elsa's cape as she moves. The only negative I have with the animation is during Let it Go, you can clearly see Elsa's braid go through her shoulder. But other than that error, Frozen is a beautiful movie to look at! And I can't wait to watch Frozen 2 on November 27, 2019! I wonder if they'll give Elsa a girlfriend.

No doubt Frozen IS Disney, and it made ELSA into a queen we all love. Yes her singing is so amazing, WOW!
Its Joeysworld

9 The Little Mermaid

Sebastian is right. The underwater environment is awesome! There is so much detail that it makes it look beautiful to look at. The characters look great, the underwater plants look great, and the overall atmosphere looks great! The underwater scenery makes the scenery of the human world look lame in comparison. I have no idea why Ariel wanted to leave her home. She had such a good life. But she gave it all up just to be with some guy! I hate Ariel so much!

10 Tarzan

This whole jungle scenery in the movie looks outstanding! Throughout this movie, it practically takes us on a ride. Especially when Tarzan is swinging on vines and surfing the trees. I was blown away by that! The movement of the characters looks so smooth! I also really like how they made Clayton's death as dark as possible to show that it was a very painful death. Tarzan is a pretty underrated Disney movie and definitely has some pretty good animation.

The Contenders
11 Moana

I'm just gonna say that this isn't the best animation we've seen in a Disney film. But it does have its moments. The movement of the hair is so realistic! I remember this one scene where Moana turns around and then her hair his her face. You can tell they put a lot of detail in the hair movements. I also like how they combined 3D animation with 2D animation. Maui's tattoos are made by using 2D animation and it looks really cool. And that scene where Moana is confronting Te Ka is just beautiful! People say this is the best animation Disney has done. There are moments that stand out but it's nothing we haven't seen before.

12 Pinocchio

Why isn't this higher? The animation in this is extremely high quality and top notch, and it is one of the quintessential looking Disney films: a lovely fantasy world you'd like to visit, heck, if Pleasure Island wasn't some cursed place that would transform me into a donkey, I'd like to visit it too!

13 Sleeping Beauty
14 Alice in Wonderland
15 Hercules
16 Brother Bear
17 The Rescuers Down Under
18 Cinderella (1950)
19 Mulan Fa Mulan, a character inspired by an actual historic figure is a character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures' 36th animated feature film Mulan, as well as its sequel Mulan II.
20 The Emperor's New Groove
21 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

How could you forget this movie!

22 Finding Nemo
23 101 Dalmatians (1961)

Though the Xerography may not appeal to everyone, I actually like this style of animation and felt it suited this awesome film well.

24 Pocahontas

Are you kidding me?! MegaSoulHero, you’re just basing your list on the movies you like the best, not the ones with the best animation. I mean come on, Pocahontas has incredibly stunning animation and it should so be first!
