This band continues to push their music in a new direction with each album. They are quality musicians with a one-of-a-kind sound and lyrics that could stand on their own as art. These guys certainly aren't afraid afraid of their weirdness! As always, look forward to what they bring us in the future.

This band is weird (absolutely great too) even when they aren't trying to be weird, plus the fact that they do like to incorporate some shock value every now and again makes the even the weirder.

Once you see the video for obscure by dir en grey you can't unsee it...

Just because you think a band sucks doesn't mean the band is weird.

Honestly I love this band

I'm a metal fan but screaming n growling doesn't make a song metal. This band is so overrated as heavy metal pioneers but I can listened to only three of their songs.

Slipknot is a douchebag.

46 Van Der Graaf Generator

So weird they make Jethro Tull and early Genesis sound positively mainstream. Unusual in that they had no guitars in most of their line-ups, but they did have wailing saxophones. Peter Hamill's vocals are interesting to put it mildly. I am surprised that Comus aren't on this list!

Definitely one of the weirdest-sounding 70s bands, with heavy saxophone and growling organ (! ) instead of lead guitar. Plus Peter Hamill's crazy vocals. They make early Genesis sound positively mainstream!

47 That Handsome Devil

So strange and unique, but so addicting. Godforbid's lyrics and vocals in addition with the bizarre instrumentals make this a highly enjoyable music adventure.

48 Alestorm Alestorm Alestorm is a heavy metal band originally from Perth, Scotland. Their music is characterized by a pirate theme, and as a result they have been dubbed a "pirate metal" band by many critics and their fanbase. V 1 Comment

59 Wintergatan

I'd agree if 'weird' on this list is a synonym for 'creative and beautifully unique'. I love the music box they use and their huge marble machine (along with the tune they played on it) blew me away! Other favourites of mine by Wintergatan are 'Sommarfågel' and 'Starmachine2000' - I'd recommend them to everyone. - Entranced98
