Besides, it seems like a poor ship bait line the dubbers made up considering she wants to marry Danny and hesitates staying with Rudy, and never showed any other evidence that she likes Ash. That makes her look like an indecisive brat who just wants all the attention on her - which she might very well actually be.
In the episode The Heartbreak of Brock Ash talks about the idea of Brock being married Misty responds by saying "You and I Will Be Married Someday Too" and Ash's reaction is pretty funny, though she could have been talking about them bieng married to other people or maybe not.

No matter if Ash 'insulted' her perfume (is she really surprised that a 10 year old boy doing the gym challenge doesn't care about perfume and was only brought here because the orange haired brat who was with him forced her girliness on him), she is a Gym Leader who should be professional and accept every challenge, no matter who they come from. "Liking perfume" is not a requirement to enter the Kanto League. Plus she seemed pretty sexist too. I guess in the end she acknowledged him and all, but it only makes me wonder how many challengers she has rejected for not being into perfume and couldn't enter the Kanto League because they could never face her...

Why was that in a kid's show? She acted overly violent for no reason and should just have never joined the group so we wouldn't have to hear her whining for +200 episodes. Yeah, that... This trainer's choice thing was clearly made by people that didn't even care to check facts before. I've heard this particular one was because the person making it hadn't keep up with the recent episodes and assumed Jessie's Seviper was just her Arbok that had evolved (I wonder if he also thought James' Cacnea was the evolved form of Weezing, they're both round after all). But seriously they should always check before doing that, or not do it at all...

Ash not taking Pikachu with him should already have given her a hint that he wanted to be alone for a while. If Cilan can understand that, why can't she? Because she's an obsessed, idealizing brat. She therefore stalks him into the woods and when he tells her the EXTREMELY OBVIOUS, that he wants to be left alone, that brat doesn't take his feelings into account at all and just physically assaults him before leaving. Her speech when saying that was the most pathetic, basically claiming she only likes him for his good sides and doesn't accept that he has flaws, just like any person.
