Worst #6 Overall NFL Draft Picks

The Top Ten

1 Lawrence Phillips

Now granted he had the playing potential, but was found of Coach Vermeil did say he had personal troubles off the field by the time he came to the squad. After being released after two season he was given two opportunities in Miami, and San Fran, but was a backup and ended up going to different associations briefly only to have committed real life crimes after his failures continued. In 2005 Phillips was arrested of Assault colliding into three cars all in which were minors. Convicted once again in 2009 of his girlfriend abusing the spouse seven different ways. Eventually overtime Phillips killed former player's brother of R. Jay Soward extending his stay at the time. Although he would than die soon after wards hanging himself thus an awful individual, and perhaps the worst Rams selection of all time. - htoutlaws2012

2 Vernon Gholston

He was a prospect nicknamed ''The Ghost of Jersey'' (No I made that up). Gholston is one of the players you don't recognize due to Rex Ryan having no idea what to do with him other than ''long limbs.'' He had no sacks to ever get close to, and he bounced out the team by 2010 trying to find a new home in which he was very unsuccessful to thrive in both of those times Bears, and Redskins. - htoutlaws2012

3 Carl Barzilauskas

Yeah anybody remember this guy? Carl did absolutely nothing as their nose tackle, and had no plans why they drafted him in the first place. A more forgotten bust, but one that his only highlight was of an interception not with the Jets, but another team trading Green with the Packers other than that he hardly did much. - htoutlaws2012

4 Johnathan Sullivan

Little production in terms of sacks being only 1.5, missed majority of his second year. Saints gave up on him after three season, and Belichick was gonna give him another shot only for him to destroy his career to a big possession of Marijuana. - htoutlaws2012

5 Mossy Cade

Originally played not in the NCAA, bu the old USFL league when that was a big rival at the time. Cade found his way to the Packers with their 6th pick in 1984 getting a secondary player they fought would be the long term answer after two season though he had arrived, but with disappointing expectations of 5 interception, and being found a convict in a jail cell. He was gonna play for the Vikings, but was quickly released after conclusive evidence at the time, and thus one of the worst Packer busts of all time. - htoutlaws2012

6 Ryan Sims

5 Sacks, on and off health on the field issue. Inconsistent I'm just putting this in short words in this case. - htoutlaws2012

7 David Klingler

With Boomer Esiason gone to a new team in 1992 the Bengals needed a new quarterback clearly and it made since to get who was available around the 6th spot thinking that Klingler would be that next top guy. When you realize you drafted a guy who only won the Sammy Baugh award you know there should of been red flags detected. Wildly inconsistent can't stay healthy he has thrown more picks than touchdowns like many busts, but has a higher completion percentage (not much) than some of the worse with a 65.1%. - htoutlaws2012

8 Eric Curry

He was somewhat productive, but not enough to say he was good to stick around unfortunately. they had to wait a few years to solve their problems when they drafted Warren Sapp there basically done with Eric Curry. He gets one last show with a brand new expansion team in the Jaguars who had little to known players at the time led by Mark Brunell, and he only had a.5 of a sack done there thus faded away the next century it seems like. - htoutlaws2012

9 Barkevious Mingo

Another of the long list of Browns busts, and we go back to the defensive front with Barkevious Mingo who they had little faith in. Mingo was mostly a go to linebacker only he wasn't a starter in his time in Cleveland, and he only had seven sacks with little to shine,a and thus was cut in the conclusion of the 2015 season. A bitter sweet though as he joins the Patriots and gets a super bowl ring for his trouble curiosity of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. - htoutlaws2012

10 Morris Claiborne

Well Jerry Jones loved Deion Sanders, and he believed Morris Claiborne would be that type of player. While isn't terrible what they gave up for him was a major price for a #1 starting corner. With his time in Dallas he has had 4 interceptions while having trouble staying healthy thus the team was stuck on death row who to have in in which is not a problem now for the team with rotating corners. - htoutlaws2012

The Contenders

11 Rich Campbell

The #6 pick in 1981 played 7 games with 0 starts. That's all. 24 years later, the Packers drafted another QB out of California (Aaron Rodgers), and the rest is history. - thomwim
