Top 10 Worst Animated Shows Based off of Video Games

video games and there cartoons here are some of the worst

The Top Ten

1 The Legend of Zelda

This show actually put me off the games until Ocarina of Time came out.

Well, we all saw this coming made in 1989 ;it was a horrible show and the main character Link talks and he is just really irritating in the show, the plot follows Princess Zelda and Link try to defend the kingdom of Hyrule from the evil wizard Ganon. Despite there only being 13 episodes in the whole series Link utters his catch phrase"Exxcccuuusssuse me Princess" 29 times. The main Character is just incredibly unlikable overall and so is the show. Fail. - BreakFastBeast2005

The saddest part of this show is that Link has more personality in this cartoon than he does in the entirety of the games canon. - Drawbox

Wait this was a show? - Not_A_Weeaboo

2 Rabbids Invasion Rabbids Invasion (French: Les Lapins Crétins : Invasion) is a French/American animated television series which premiered on August 3, 2013, on Nickelodeon. The series began airing on Nicktoons during its second season in late 2015. On June 23, 2017, the series finale ended during its third season. more.

The hatred for the Rabbids has died down a bit, just saying but in 2013 Nickelodeon debuted the show, with it eventually moving to the Nicktoons Network, this is no plot in the show, the show is meant with mixed reviews but most negative. Despite the deception, the show was renewed for two more seasons, ending on June 23, 2017. - BreakFastBeast2005

To be honest this show was actually funny and good. - 23windomt

3 Bubsy Bubsy is a series of platforming video games created by Michael Berlyn and developed and published by Accolade. The games star an anthropomorphic bobcat named Bubsy, a character that takes inspiration from Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Bubsy was always bad. Everything about him is pure cringe. His games are bad. Now, we got a T.V. show about him. Yeah, it looks crap as well.

Technically Bubsy was never a cartoon only a sucky pilot, In 1993 an episode pilot was made for a potential Bubsy the animated series, made by Calico Creations, the pilot begins with Bubsy doing a bunch of random "cool stuff", and that's all it was just a mess with no real plot, the pilot was 22 minutes long and it's pretty obvious to see why this pilot was never picked up. - BreakFastBeast2005

What can possibly go wrong indeed even the episodes pilot is titled What Can Possibly Go Wrong?. - egnomac

Screw him.

4 Darkstalkers

The US cartoon with its bad redesigns and crummy portrayals of the actual game characters and the very annoying new character, that is. The 4 episode Japanese cartoon was fine.

5 Donkey Kong Country Donkey Kong Country is a Canadian/French computer-animated television series. It is based on the Nintendo franchise Donkey Kong as portrayed in the Donkey Kong Country video game series by Nintendo and Rare.

Airing on Fox Family from 1998 to 2000, Donkey Kong Country follows follows DK and Diddy Kong as they try to protect the Crystal Coconut from the evil King K. Rool. Dk is a idiot in this series, now the CGI in the show was trash but it was actually a very huge advancement in CGI animation at the time, but all in all yeah the show is pretty bad. - BreakFastBeast2005

6 Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm

Over the top violence and gore is what you think of when you think of Mortal Kombat, not a Saturday Morning kids show, but that's what they did, debuted in 1996 and last for 13 episodes, just a bunch of one liner after one lier after one liner, and it is considered the worst failure in the Mortal Kombat Franchise - BreakFastBeast2005

Mortal Kombat had no buisness being a kids cartoon. - egnomac

7 Street Fighter
8 Sonic Underground

Sonic Underground is considered the worst Sonic cartoon by many, and for good reason, the plot of the show has very little to do with the Sonic series, the show not very popular and was cancelled after one season. I could go on and on about how horrible this show was and such a disgrace the Sonic franchise but I won't. - BreakFastBeast2005

Hey, this show was my childhood, and I still remember that theme song...

Sonic Satam and Sonic Boom are much better cartoons. But this show was just mediocre. - Drawbox

9 The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! is an American television series, conceived by Andy Heyward, produced by DIC Animation City, and distributed by Viacom Enterprises in association with Nintendo, airing during 1989 from 4 September to 1 December.

Let me see. Men in their forties dressing up like Mario and Luigi for part of the show? Check.
Horrible theme that sticks in your head for the rest of your life? Check.
Irrelevant things added that were never in the video games at all? (Mario lives in Brooklyn and for some reason all the koopalings were given a different name for this show.) Check. Ok it looks like we have all the ingredients for a cheesy kids show!

It debuted in 1989, the opening and closing feature live action skits with the Mario Bros at their Brooklyn plumbing company, Sadly the show did more harm than good, causing Nintendo to wary of allowing Mario to appear in T.V. and film in the future, so yeah also pretty bad. - BreakFastBeast2005

I enjoyed this show a lot! - IceFoxPlayz

Super Mario World was the only good Mario cartoon. - Drawbox

10 Tak and the Power of Juju

In 2003 Nickelodeon released and original title called Tak and the Power of Juju for the Playstation 2 and the Gamecube, with a side-scroller version for the Game Boy Advanced, the game was well received, and had two direct sequels, so in 2007 Nickelodeon released a CGI series based off the video game, and it was not received, the show was your basic two eleven minute stories in a one half-hour block, however the show was very different from the video game and it confused a lot of fans, and left many of them disappointed. The show only lasted for one season. - BreakFastBeast2005

The Contenders

11 Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, also known as Pac-World, is an American/Japanese/Canadian computer-animated comedy-adventure television series featuring Namco's classic video game character Pac-Man.

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventure was a CGI animated cartoon that debuted in 2013, the show follows a teenage Pac-Man, as him and his friends fight off ghosts that have invaded the city, this show too was very stupid and filled with just a bunch of butt humor, the show is met with mediocre reviews, but the show still has it's fans. It ended in 2015. - BreakFastBeast2005

Thank god they didn't use this design in Smash. - Drawbox

12 Pac-Man
13 Mega Man Star Force Mega Man Star Force, known as Shooting Star Rockman in the original Japanese language version, is an anime and manga series based on the video game of the same name.
14 Captain N: The Game Master

Look up "Bad Nintendo Cartoons" on Google.
This is the first thing that appears.

15 Mega Man: Fully Charged
16 Fire Emblem

Yeah there was a animated series for this, this one is a funny story many of us know Fire Emblem from Super Smash Bros. Melee, but until then the game was series had remained in Japan with the 7th edition Fire Emblem: Blazing sword being the first released Worldwide, then came the animation released in America, despite the game series being non-existent at that point, and they wrongly translated many of the characters names, the animation is fine and the plot is not horrible, the real goof up was releasing it in America in first place, was just a pre game anime series nobody new about. - BreakFastBeast2005

17 Ryuusei No Rockman Tribe
18 Disgaea
19 Tales of Eternia: The Animation
20 Super Mario World Super Mario World is an American animated musical comedy television series loosely based on the Super NES video game of the same name.

€Known for the memes of Mama Luigi” - Tgamez
