Top Ten Worst Bowser Castles in Mario KartA type of course that always appears in each Mario Kart game is Bowser's Castle. They're typically some of the hardest tracks in the game (that excludes the flat SNES and GBA ones) and are placed second-to-last in the Special Cups (again, excludes the SNES and GBA ones (and N64 one too)). They're also typically some of the better tracks in the game, but not all are great. So I'm making a list about the worst ones.
The Top Ten
Without a doubt the worst BC out there. All of the flat and numbered Bowser Castles were just so underwhelming and uninteresting, at least the SNES ones. They all use the same music, same background, same art style, same tiling and yadda yadda yadda. The worst offender is SNES Bowser Castle 2, my least favourite course of all time. The turns are way too tight, way sharp and there's a dead end, in a mario kart! There's nothing redeemable about the course, it also looks bland and the music is horrific. It's just terrible!
This is easily the worst Bowser castle course ever. The turns are both boring and obnoxious and the holes in the ground are ridiculous. Also, whoever decided to put in a dead end in the middle of the track deserves a spanking.
Easily the worst
This is essentially SNES Bowser Castle 2 except the turns are wider, no dead end, making it more tolerable. It's certainly not a fun course though because it still retains the same aestethics and music. But it's overall..., a bit better though I must say.
Most of the SNES Bowser castles are boring.
The GBA Bowser Castles, while also a lot of (even more) were better than the SNES counterparts. The turns are all way more tolerable to make and the background changes for each course (heck, 3 even changed the aestethics!). The weakest was definitely though the first one. It's just so unbelievably easy it's boring. Bowser Castle tracks are not meant to be boring. The background is alright but it also adds up to the boredom because everything is just red. Overall, not a good course.
Slightly better than the predecessor and a little fun. The background has a statue of Bowser on a throne with purple walls, and red cylinders holding up the roof in front of the statue. The design is sure more interesting as there are a lot of jump boosts, some sending you into the lava without a mushroom. Other than that not much else to say.
Eh, it's just okay and it's more fun to play.
This track is slightly decent. It's way better than its predecessors in that it's not frustratingly difficult while not being boring and uninteresting. The turns are tight and hard, but it's done more creatively and fun than in the predecessors and there's a part where you must make tons of jumps over lava with different paths. Overall it's better but still not that great.
My favorite SNES Bowser Castle by far
The first pretty good track on the list. This is probably the longest Bowser Castle on the list and sure is interesting. This time the background contains some sort of machine with Bowser's emblem on, which raises a lot of questions. What is that machine? Otherwise the design has multiple jumps, including one where you jump really high and then mechakoopas are in the way. In the future this could host a gliding ramp as a retro track I think. But the aestethics are still generally the same beige which brings the course high the list.
It's kinda decent with some cool designs. Easily the best
I’d say this is my favorite from the flat BC tracks
Out of the 3D Bowser Castles the DS one was sure the worst. It feels like a somewhat lazy rehash on the GCN version, both in design and music, only worsened. I do like the spinning wheel halfway through where you can fall of without having to be picked up by Lakitu. So yeah.
This is...it's okay, I guess. It's kind of a remake of the Double dash Bowser castle except it's boring sometimes. The 1st half is pretty cool and the part where you go up and spin is cool and the spinning wheel is awesome, especially because if you fall off you won't die. However, everything after that is awful...and the music sucks here too.
Not bad just okay nothing more nothing less.
The 3DS version was probably worse than this.
The best flat Bowser Castle is the third one from MKSC. Not only does it have a cool course design, but the aestethics and background are stellar. Instead of the ugly beige, we're greeted with a gorgeous blue, and a thunderstorm in the background. You can also see Kamek in at the end of the course. Overall a great course.
This kinda looks cool.
Mario kart tour is trash.
This is a controversial choice. For being the newest one you'd expect it to have the most content and craziness. And it sure does. The music in this track is something else man..., (awesome) and it's all chaos. There's lava everywhere, tight jumps, a bowser statue punching the floor. It's all so content-filled and mad. But..., in all honesty don't you think it's..., how do I put it..., a bit TOO much? It feels like it stays way too far from what a Bowser Castle should be, like it's too "modern" and mechanical. I would've wished it to be a little more cartoony like the others, but I still think it's a good track and didn't ruin it all in the game unlike *cough*, Rainbow Road, *cough*.
Nah, this one is amazing. This track is crazy! THe music in the track is awesome and this track is full of chaos, which is something every Bowser castle is supposed to have. There's such a cool apocalyptic vibe to it and it's extremely content-heavy. Also the Bowser punching the track is awesome. Defintely the best Bowser castle of all time tied with the Wii.
This one isn’t bad at all it’s honestly right behind the Wii Bowser’s Castle only problem is this feels way too similar
This track is a solid 8 for me but something had to take #10 spot, obviously. Compared to the legends Wii's or N64's, 3DS Bowser Castle is a little lackluster but could've been another legend. For one the difficulty is a little on the easy side for me and the water section is a little weird. It's also very short and is over before you know it. Let's not forget you only spend 50% in the castle and the other half is outside on a rocky mountainside (this is both a pro and con depending on who you ask. I personally think it's cool but man 50% is a little too much outside the castle). But other than that it's really great. The music is amazing and apocalyptic and the stuff that is offered is well-liked by me. Overall a great course.
This track is amazing, the design Is pretty cool though the water section is pretty weird. The music is pretty cool. The only doubts is that it is very easy compared to the rest of the castles and we need more time inside the castle as there's a huge section outside the castle. But it's really good though.
It’s just so forgettable and doesn’t do anything to stand out really. I’ll cut it some slack as it was in the 3DS but it’s still uninteresting
