Top 10 Worst Cartoon Episode Endings

Just to be clear, this list is about the worst endings in cartoon episodes and not the finale of a cartoon series, though the ending of the finale episodes can be included. These are the most terrible endings to a cartoon show or anime, either from a good episode or a bad episode.
The Top Ten
1 Ren Seeks Help - Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon"

This episode is just PURELY ROTTEN AND SADISTIC! And he wouldn't even put that poor frog out of its misery, either, after sadistically torturing the poor thing. And at the end, Mr. Horse just suddenly beats the crap out of Ren rather than helping him with his mental issues. And it all ends with Mr. Horse getting murdered by Ren, and the frog trying to kill himself with a gun. SO. FREAKING. ROTTEN!

Since I haven't seen this episode, let alone the fact that I never want to torture myself watching it, I can't say much about it. But from what I can see based off that horrid title card of Ren being an absolute deformed psychopath complete with clips I've seen of him sadistically torturing a frog and making the lives of the people doing surgery on him a living hell, I think it's safe to say that everyone should stay away from this episode. AT ALL COSTS!

Never watched it but judging from that image, I'm guessing it's just plain grotesque.

2 A Pal for Gary - SpongeBob SquarePants

That image both reeks of nightmare fuel and all my vent-up hatred against SpongeBob's complete and utter obliviousness in this episode. The fact that he was still ostracizing poor Gary even though Gary was CLEARLY about to be eaten by Puffy Fluffy, complete with the latter being an Eldritch Abomination, just makes it even more frustrating for the audience themselves to watch as SpongeBob does absolutely nothing to help Gary and still thinks Puffy Fluffy is innocent. Even when Gary saves SpongeBob, guess what the little yellow dolphin squeal did. He STILL ostracizes Gary, and thus the episode ends with SpongeBob not having learned his lesson nor Gary getting any reward for saving his and SpongeBob's life. There's a reason why I like playing that Gary's Revenge web game on Nick.com, you know. And THIS is that reason.

This episode is as bad as most others, but there are a lot worse Spongebob episode in my opinion. Some episodes are so bad overall that their endings are worse than this one.

3 Brawl in the Family - The Loud House
4 The True Meaning of Christmas - Teen Titans Go!

The real true meaning of Christmas is to enjoy the company of your friends and family on the day Christ was born. It's a warm fuzzy feeling that lasts the whole year round, and a joyous moment that brings you closer to God.

Just some god awful episode ending up with presents and stuff. Christmas is about spending time with family.

No, they don't know anything about the true meaning of Christmas.

5 Stanley's Cup - South Park

The ending made no sense and poor Nelson just dies.

6 It's a Wishful Life - The Fairly Oddparents

Addressing the elephant in the room first, I'm just glad Butch Hartman actually took the time to apologize for making this episode. Unfortunately, the show itself will never be able to live this episode down. The entire episode's premise already screamed mean-spirited when the whole duration of the episode has Timmy experiencing what life is like for others when he doesn't exist when he sees that ALL of them are much better off without him. With Jorgen acting almost like the equivalent of Death itself as Timmy is almost on the verge of not wanting to exist anymore, the episode just ends with this turning out to all be a test by Jorgen saying that the moral of the story is that good deeds should be done because it's the right thing, not because it should be done for praise. You know, if we hadn't spent the entire episode showing that everyone's life is worse with Timmy around, we would have taken that aesop MUCH more easily. Because was that even the true aesop? It's a Wishful Life ...more

7 Dexter vs Santa's Claws - Dexter's Laboratory

Said it many times before, but I'm going to say it again. Dexter was a complete idiot of a Scrooge in this episode! The episode was already bad to begin with considering Dexter's flawed fake Santa theory and his god-awful rap to go along with it, but the entire episode is just hard to watch as Dexter literally tries to shoot Santa out of the sky even though he thinks it's his dad (either way, Dexter was completely in the wrong in this episode). Having already ruined Christmas for his family along with the fact that this WASN'T the first time that he ruined Christmas for everyone, the episode just ends with the Family-Unfriendly Aesop that Christmas is only about presents. Saberspark, I love you and all, and while I can understand why you like this episode in ways that me and others couldn't, I just REALLY hated how Dexter vs Santa's Claws went. I wouldn't even call it a true Christmas episode, especially since it didn't even first air near Christmas around the time it debuted.

8 Miracle on Evergreen Terrace - The Simpsons

After the town finds out that the Simpsons weren't robbed and that Bart destroyed the tree and their presents and tried to cover it up, they become immediately hated by everyone. After failing to get the money to pay them back, the Simpsons return to their house only to find the town has broken into their house and looted all their stuff. And it ends with the family fighting over a washcloth. Seriously, who's the idiot that wrote this?

Even Lisa Goes Gaga had a better ending than this episode, I can't understand how is people who defend this just because is from the old seasons

9 Goodbye Nikki? - 6teen
10 Stuck in the Wringer - SpongeBob SquarePants

"I guess crying does solve your problems after all."

Way to incorporate a Family-Unfriendly Aesop, Zeus Cervas...

The Contenders
11 D.W.'s Very Bad Mood - Arthur

My friend was about to get transferred to a different class permanently but she cried until the principal said that she's not moving her anymore, and this episode is basically an example of what happened. And keep in mind, we were in grade 7, not grade 2 or 3 or anything.

D.W. is just one of the most annoying cartoon characters ever. In pretty much every episode she's in she's acting like a typical spoiled princess. I've always muted the T.V. whenever she came on while I was watching.

Any episode focusing on DW is going to end horribly. She's obnoxious and spoilt. In the end she doesn't even have a good reason for her behaviour

12 Izombie - Sealab 2021
13 One Coarse Meal - SpongeBob SquarePants

The fact that even after Plankton legitimately had to endure crippling paranoia and depression on the verge of committing suicide by bus as a result of Mr. Krabs's psychological torture by masquerading as Pearl that Mr. Krabs managed to get away with this scot-free aside from the mime truly justifies why everyone hates this episode. If there's one thing I'll agree with Mr. Enter on, what SpongeBob did by claiming he has "good nature" in spite of him supporting Mr. Krabs in his sadistic intent of literally wanting to torture Plankton mentally is just SICKENING! But either way, this isn't only one of the worst SpongeBob episodes ever, if not THE worst of them all, but also one of the worst examples of a Designated Hero in the form of the cheapskate crustacean we know as Eugene H. Krabs. If only Krabs had the same fate in One Coarse Meal like he did in Wishing You Well (he gets cooked and eaten by a human).

14 Something's a Ms. - Powerpuff Girls
15 Everyone Knows It's Bendy - Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

There are quite a few examples of writers having apologized for bad episodes they've written, such as It's a Wishful Life by Butch Hartman and Arnold Betrays Iggy by Craig Bartlett. And then there's this one by Lauren Faust. To say she truly felt sorry for writing this episode is an understatement. Bendy getting away with every single misdeed he's done like the Karma Houdini he is while everyone else is framed for it by Frankie and Mr. Herriman didn't make me mad. IT MADE ME FURIOUS! (Anyone catch the Regular Show reference there? ) Even when Bloo goes to great lengths to expose Bendy and finally does, while it's understandable why Frankie and Mr. Herriman would be mad at him for flooding the Foster's manor, they STILL don't give a crap about Bendy! No punishment against Bendy, no forgiveness for Bloo and his friends, just Mac stumbling upon the damage and thinking Bloo did it and Bloo blaming it on Bendy (in a way, Bloo is still right) as Bendy sprays the screen red as the episode ends. Thank God they wrote Bendy out of the show!

16 New Student Starfish - SpongeBob SquarePants
17 Moral Decay - The Powerpuff Girls

Buttercup probably deserved the beating she got in this episode from the people whose teeth she knocked out. However, my problem with the ending is that Blossom and Bubbles agree to let the villains beat up Buttercup while they just stand there watching. How can they stand there while their sister is being assaulted like that? And the way they look at her, smiling at Buttercup's injuries. Even the Professor shows no concern for her injuries.

I really hated this episode and the ending made it worst.

I hated this ending, it was too cruel.

18 Plankton's Regular - Spongebob Squarepants

Well, look what we have here! ANOTHER Designated Hero episode where Krabs just ALWAYS has to win! Was it really that hard for the writers to give Plankton a break? It's not like Plankton stole all of Krabs's customers. Yet, Krabs thinks that he can't let Plankton have so much as one single customer. Seriously, he actually says this word for word! I understand Plankton is his arch rival, but when you've got episodes like One Coarse Meal where Mr. Krabs is a Jerkass, Karma Houdini, and Designated Hero wrapped all into one package, this episode didn't just have a bad ending, it's a bad episode OVERALL. Things weren't much better when Karen and Nat revealed that the former only payed the latter to eat Plankton's chum so that Plankton would stop complaining about having no customers.

Karen mimicking Plankton's complaining cries is another reason to make this episode a bag of equine fecal waste.

19 Goodbye to Bloo - Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

The climax is just anti-climatic, if you ask me. This is supposed to be the series finale, and all it ends with is that it turns out Mac is just moving into a new apartment and not a new city while Cheese and his foster family has to move into Foster's. The only good thing about this series finale was the final image of the end credits, and that's not saying much. Destination Imagination should have been the official series finale, not this one.

20 Let's Play Courtroom Drama - Kaeloo

Kaeloo physically and emotionally hurts Mr. Cat and shows no remorse for it, even though Mr. Cat clearly felt bad when he thought HE had hurt HER. One of the worst "Kaeloo favoritizes Quack Quack over Mr. Cat" episodes of the show.

... And suddenly, Mr. Cat was punished in a cruel, harsh and unfair manner by his own best friend as punishment for doing what he does in every single episode.

The episode's ending was so awful that most of the fans felt sorry for Mr. Cat, even though he was supposed to be the villain of the episode.

21 Little Yellow Book - SpongeBob SquarePants

Behold, the bad equivalent of Fools in April! Wanna know why? Because while Squidward apologized for his misdeed against SpongeBob in Fools in April, he feels absolutely NO remorse for his actions in Little Yellow Book! While I do feel sorry for Squidward most of the time when he's put through torture porn episodes, the way Squidward tried to humiliate SpongeBob by reading his diary out to the public was just sickening. Not helped by the citizens of Bikini Bottom being complete hypocrites by being the ones laughing at SpongeBob's diary, yet they denounce Squidward for the same thing even though they're no different from him! And the bitter cherry on top? Squidward STILL doesn't learn his lesson at the end of the episode.

22 Seahorse Seashell Party - Family Guy

Mr Enter reviewed this episode, and I really agreed with what he said about the ending because I really hate the idea of encouraging people to stay in abusive relationships! And the episode does just that!

This was the worst ending to a family guy episode ever. Ugh, why would you encourage domestic violence and child abuse? That's vile.

23 Goku's Next Journey - DragonBall Z
24 The Principal and the Pauper - The Simpsons

This is the worst episode of the Simpsons EVER! Yes even worse than Lisa goes Gaga because this ends with the whole ep being deemed irrelevant in the first place as everything that happened in it is just pushed aside and everything goes back to normal! Argh! Why make us sit through half an hour of this?

25 Your Ed Here - Ed, Edd N Eddy
