Top 10 Worst Cartoon Episode Endings

Just to be clear this list is about the worst endings in cartoon episodes not the finale of a cartoon series though the ending of the finale episodes can be included. These are the most terrible endings to a cartoon show or anime either from a good episode or a bad episode.

The Top Ten

1 Ren Seeks Help - Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon"

Since I haven't seen this episode, let alone the fact that I never want to torture myself watching it, I can't say much about it. But from what I can see based off that horrid title card of Ren being an absolute deformed psychopath complete with clips I've seen of him sadistically torturing a frog and making the lives of the people doing surgery on him a living hell, I think it's safe to say that everyone should stay away from this episode. AT ALL COSTS! - ModernSpongeBobSucks

And now...the biggest mistake in CARTOON history.

Just disturbing, if you would even consider this ending you must be mental.

Never watched it but judging from that image, I'm guessing it's just plain grotesque.

2 A Pal for Gary - SpongeBob SquarePants

That image both reeks of nightmare fuel and all my vent-up hatred against SpongeBob's complete and utter obliviousness in this episode. The fact that he was still ostracizing poor Gary even though Gary was CLEARLY about to be eaten by Puffy Fluffy, complete with the latter being an Eldritch Abomination, just makes it even more frustrating for the audience themselves to watch as SpongeBob does absolutely nothing to help Gary and still thinks Puffy Fluffy is innocent. Even when Gary saves SpongeBob, guess what the little yellow dolphin squeal did. He STILL ostracizes Gary, and thus the episode ends with SpongeBob not having learned his lesson nor Gary getting any reward for saving his and SpongeBob's life. There's a reason why I like playing that Gary's Revenge web game on, you know. And THIS is that reason. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

Why is SpongeBob so retarded? Why would he not listen to that lady? He is SO dumb too do that! He should just tae care of Gary better.

And now...the biggest mistake in Spongebob history.

This episode is as bad as most others, but there are a lot worse Spongebob episode in my opinion. Some episodes are so bad overall that their endings are worse than this one.

3 Brawl in the Family - The Loud House

Unlike No Such Luck which at least ended with the family apologizing to Lincoln this episode just ends with the sisters making up after Lincoln left and not even showing that they made up and the most insulting part about this is they tell Lincoln that he solved the conflict by leaving the way this episode should have ended is with Lincoln getting really angry and going off on all his sisters and telling them that all he was trying to do was put an end to the fighting because they're sisters and telling them how they don't appreciate all he does for them and even gets angry at dad for not putting a stop to it and ends with him telling them "The next time you guys have a problem figure it out on your own and while I'm at I don't think I ever want to talk, hear or see you guys again" then storms out of the house the sisters feel all bad about how things escalated between them that they follow after him and apologize to Lincoln, of course since the writers in this episode are complete ...more - egnomac

Just a god awful show - 445956

4 The True Meaning of Christmas - Teen Titans Go!

Stupid retarded ass titans - TwilightKitsune

I really don't want to be reminded of this horrid episode. *shudders*

The real true meaning of Christmas is to enjoy the company of your friends and family on the day Christ was born. It's a warm fuzzy feeling that lasts the whole year round, and a joyous moment that brings you closer to God.

Exactly, not moaning over stupid gifts and throwing tantrums.

No, they don't know anything about the true meaning of Christmas.

5 Stanley's Cup - South Park

A horrible ending to a horrible episode in a decision that makes no sense The Colorado Avalanche Hockey lets Stan's peewee hockey team take their place against The Detroit Red Wings since the team they were suppose to play against didn't make it not only do they lose but the kids are violently attacked by the all grown up hockey team and they show the other team's celebration before cutting to Nelson the kid from the team who's in the hospital due to having cancer loses all hope and dies just awful. - egnomac

The ending made no sense and poor Nelson just dies.

6 It's a Wishful Life - The Fairly Oddparents

Addressing the elephant in the room first, I'm just glad Butch Hartman actually took the time to apologize for making this episode. Unfortunately, the show itself will never be able to live this episode down. The entire episode's premise already screamed mean-spirited when the whole duration of the episode has Timmy experiencing what life is like for others when he doesn't exist when he sees that ALL of them are much better off without him. With Jorgen acting almost like the equivalent of Death itself as Timmy is almost on the verge of not wanting to exist anymore, the episode just ends with this turning out to all be a test by Jorgen saying that the moral of the story is that good deeds should be done because it's the right thing, not because it should be done for praise. You know, if we hadn't spent the entire episode showing that everyone's life is worse with Timmy around, we would have taken that aesop MUCH more easily. Because was that even the true aesop? It's a Wishful Life ...more - ModernSpongeBobSucks

7 Dexter vs Santa's Claws - Dexter's Laboratory

Said it many times before, but I'm going to say it again. Dexter was a complete idiot of a Scrooge in this episode! The episode was already bad to begin with considering Dexter's flawed fake Santa theory and his god-awful rap to go along with it, but the entire episode is just hard to watch as Dexter literally tries to shoot Santa out of the sky even though he thinks it's his dad (either way, Dexter was completely in the wrong in this episode). Having already ruined Christmas for his family along with the fact that this WASN'T the first time that he ruined Christmas for everyone, the episode just ends with the Family-Unfriendly Aesop that Christmas is only about presents. Saberspark, I love you and all, and while I can understand why you like this episode in ways that me and others couldn't, I just REALLY hated how Dexter vs Santa's Claws went. I wouldn't even call it a true Christmas episode, especially since it didn't even first air near Christmas around the time it debuted. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

8 Miracle on Evergreen Terrace - The Simpsons

After the town finds out that The Simpsons weren't rob and that Bart destroyed the tree and their presents and tried to cover it up they become immediately hated by everyone, after failing to get the money to pay them back The Simpsons return to their house only to find the town has broken into their house and looting all their stuff and it ends with the family fighting over a wash cloth seriously who's the idiot that wrote this. - egnomac

Even Lisa Goes Gaga had a better ending than this episode, I can't understand how is people who defend this just because is from the old seasons - Pato_cargo

9 D.W.'s Very Bad Mood - Arthur

D.W. is upset all because she wasn't invited to a Birthday Party this plot wouldn't be such a problem if the episode showed her being sad about not being invited to the party but instead they decided to have her act like a complete brat throwing a massive temper tantrum and being rude to everyone including her own parents speaking of mom and dad they are completely useless in this episode as she doesn't even receive so much as a time out form them the most they do is calmly tell her to stop which proves to be no help at all so what does D.W. get for her behavior an invite to Francine's Birthday party that's right after all the yelling, door slamming and being mean to everyone she's rewarded for her bad behavior and faces no repercussions for her actions, this episode really sends a terrible message to little kids everywhere that if you act up and annoy the hell out of everyone you will get what you want and receive no punishment for it. - egnomac

It's really pretty sad you have that much to say about an arthur episode. - PlatinumKane

My friend was about to get transferred to a different class permanently but she cried until the principal said that she's not moving her anymore, and this episode is basically an example of what happened. And keep in mind, we were in grade 7, not grade 2 or 3 or anything.

This Episode Is One Of Many Reasons Why D.W Is Bad - JPK

D.W. is just one of the most annoying cartoon characters ever. In pretty much every episode she's in she's acting like a typical spoiled princess. I've always muted the T.V. whenever she came on while I was watching.

10 Goodbye Nikki? - 6teen

The Contenders

11 Izombie - Sealab 2021
12 Something's a Ms. - Powerpuff Girls
13 Let's Play Courtroom Drama - Kaeloo

Kaeloo was too out of character here. I can understand why Mr. Cat was so upset.

This was a fairly decent episode until that ending showed up and ruined it.

If not for the ending, this would have been a good episode.

One of the few Kaeloo episodes I didn't enjoy. But hey, every good show has its bad episodes.

14 Everyone Knows It's Bendy - Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

There are quite a few examples of writers having apologized for bad episodes they've written, such as It's a Wishful Life by Butch Hartman and Arnold Betrays Iggy by Craig Bartlett. And then there's this one by Lauren Faust. To say she truly felt sorry for writing this episode is an understatement. Bendy getting away with every single misdeed he's done like the Karma Houdini he is while everyone else is framed for it by Frankie and Mr. Herriman didn't make me mad. IT MADE ME FURIOUS! (Anyone catch the Regular Show reference there? ) Even when Bloo goes to great lengths to expose Bendy and finally does, while it's understandable why Frankie and Mr. Herriman would be mad at him for flooding the Foster's manor, they STILL don't give a crap about Bendy! No punishment against Bendy, no forgiveness for Bloo and his friends, just Mac stumbling upon the damage and thinking Bloo did it and Bloo blaming it on Bendy (in a way, Bloo is still right) as Bendy sprays the screen red as the episode ...more - ModernSpongeBobSucks

The Only Foster's Episode That I Hate, But Every Good Show Has their "Hiccups" - JPK

Oh god, not this episode.

15 One Coarse Meal - SpongeBob SquarePants

Everything is wrong with the episode. This is the worst mistake nickelodeon ever made. Mr.Krabs and plankton are enemies. But mrkrabs put a disguise of a whale just to frighten him. This episode went too far.

The ending to this abomination somehow made me even more furious! Mr Krabs deserved punishment after he literally psychologically tortured plankton to the point of SUICIDE! But no, he's supposed to be the "good guy" so he gets off with no punishments while Spongebob scares plankton away again. - Phillip873

The fact that even after Plankton legitimately had to endure crippling paranoia and depression on the verge of committing suicide by bus as a result of Mr. Krabs's psychological torture by masquerading as Pearl that Mr. Krabs managed to get away with this scot-free aside from the mime truly justifies why everyone hates this episode. If there's one thing I'll agree with Mr. Enter on, what SpongeBob did by claiming he has "good nature" in spite of him supporting Mr. Krabs in his sadistic intent of literally wanting to torture Plankton mentally is just SICKENING! But either way, this isn't only one of the worst SpongeBob episodes ever, if not THE worst of them all, but also one of the worst examples of a Designated Hero in the form of the cheapskate crustacean we know as Eugene H. Krabs. If only Krabs had the same fate in One Coarse Meal like he did in Wishing You Well (he gets cooked and eaten by a human). - ModernSpongeBobSucks

Horrid Episode - JPK

16 Stuck in the Wringer - SpongeBob SquarePants

That Ending Was Just Infuriating On So Many Levels - JPK

I dreaded this episode

"I guess crying does solve your problems after all."

Way to incorporate a Family-Unfriendly Aesop, Zeus Cervas... - ModernSpongeBobSucks

17 Moral Decay - The Powerpuff Girls

Buttercup probably deserved the beating she got in this episode by the people whos teeth she knocked out but my problem with this episodes ending is Blossom and Bubbles agreeing to let the villains beat up Buttercup while they just stand their watching, just how can they stand there while their sister is being assaulted like that and the way they look at her smiling at Buttercups injuries and even the Professor shows no concern for her injuries. - egnomac

Well, that is because I am a fan of it. And I watched the series over more than 10 times, so I know a lot about it.

I really hated this episode and the ending made it worst.

I hated this ending, it was too cruel.

18 Plankton's Regular - Spongebob Squarepants

Karen mimicking Plankton's complaining cries is another reason to make this episode a bag of equine fecal waste.

Well, look what we have here! ANOTHER Designated Hero episode where Krabs just ALWAYS has to win! Was it really that hard for the writers to give Plankton a break? It's not like Plankton stole all of Krabs's customers. Yet, Krabs thinks that he can't let Plankton have so much as one single customer. Seriously, he actually says this word for word! I understand Plankton is his arch rival, but when you've got episodes like One Coarse Meal where Mr. Krabs is a Jerkass, Karma Houdini, and Designated Hero wrapped all into one package, this episode didn't just have a bad ending, it's a bad episode OVERALL. Things weren't much better when Karen and Nat revealed that the former only payed the latter to eat Plankton's chum so that Plankton would stop complaining about having no customers. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

Good Episode, Bad Ending - JPK

This is personally one of my favourite episodes of season 6,but I hate the ending.Ned(Plankton's customer for the entire episode)reveals he was only supporting Plankton because Karen paid him to.I like this, but I would've loved it more if Ned continued to support Plankton.

19 New Student Starfish - SpongeBob SquarePants

This episode is not that bad to be honest

20 Goodbye to Bloo - Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

The climax is just anti-climatic, if you ask me. This is supposed to be the series finale, and all it ends with is that it turns out Mac is just moving into a new apartment and not a new city while Cheese and his foster family has to move into Foster's. The only good thing about this series finale was the final image of the end credits, and that's not saying much. Destination Imagination should have been the official series finale, not this one. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

Back when boomerang did air all the episodes I noticed this one did not rebroadcast which seems interesting. - htoutlaws2012

Thanks Zusus for ruining From peoples childhood...Cazey is just an asst...

21 Seahorse Seashell Party - Family Guy

Mr Enter reviewed this episode, and I really agreed with what he said about the ending because I really hate the idea of encouraging people to stay in abusive relationships! And the episode does just that! - Phillip873

This was the worst ending to a family guy episode ever. Ugh, why would you encourage domestic violence and child abuse? That’s vile.

22 The Principal and the Pauper - The Simpsons

This episode is infamous for two reasons 1 its revealed that Principal Seymour Skinner is actually an imposter which completely comes literally out of nowhere and 2 the awful ending where they ship off the real Seymour on a train and declare the imposter to officially be Seymour Skinner and everything is swept under the rug and everyone acts like nothing ever happened which is saying that this whole episode was a complete waste of time and everything that we saw in this episode no longer matters. - egnomac

This is the worst episode of the Simpsons EVER! Yes even worse than Lisa goes Gaga because this ends with the whole ep being deemed irrelevant in the first place as everything that happened in it is just pushed aside and everything goes back to normal! Argh! Why make us sit through half an hour of this?

23 Goku's Next Journey - DragonBall Z
24 Little Yellow Book - SpongeBob SquarePants

Behold, the bad equivalent of Fools in April! Wanna know why? Because while Squidward apologized for his misdeed against SpongeBob in Fools in April, he feels absolutely NO remorse for his actions in Little Yellow Book! While I do feel sorry for Squidward most of the time when he's put through torture porn episodes, the way Squidward tried to humiliate SpongeBob by reading his diary out to the public was just sickening. Not helped by the citizens of Bikini Bottom being complete hypocrites by being the ones laughing at SpongeBob's diary, yet they denounce Squidward for the same thing even though they're no different from him! And the bitter cherry on top? Squidward STILL doesn't learn his lesson at the end of the episode. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

The most insulting part about this episode is the citizens of Bikini Bottom turning on Squidward even though they did the exact same thing and not once did they ever tell him to stop reading SpongeBob's diary they were basically trying to save their own butts by singling out Squidward its like kids in grade school who simply stand by and do nothing while a bully beats up another kid and then calling them out on their actions and punishing them even though they could have put a stop to it in the first place. - egnomac

25 The Man from J.U.N.G.L.E. - Timon & Pumbaa

Timon impersonates a masked hero Super Duper Hero X and gets captured by X's nemesis Chromosome Quint and Pumbaa along with Speedy the Snail from past episode who surprisingly turns out to be the real Super Duper Hero X come to his rescue and together attempt to stop Quint's plan to destroy Pride Rock by shutting down the power of his ship but actually end up doing more harm as the ship begins to crash right into Pride Rock but rather then actually show what happens to them the episode just switches to a clip which is actually the scene from a previous episode "French Fried" only with the dialogue swapped out and they add the scene with Chromosome Quint in a mechanical bird carrying of Speedy as Timon and Pumbaa chase after them while Pumbaa sings "When the Saints Go Marching In" and the episode ends, the ending makes no real sense and just comes out of nowhere. - egnomac

26 Your Ed Here - Ed, Edd N Eddy
27 Down to the Fiery Finish - Pokémon Xyz

All of the Pokemon anime sucks, and it should've ended here and then rebooted into something that's as awesome as something like Pokemon Origins.

The pokemon show sucks anyways - ikerevievs

Just when it seems Ash was finally going to get his long awaited win in the Pokémon League the creators of Pokémon just like WWE decides to screw over its fans and come up with a BS ending and have Ash lose to Alan even though Ash had a huge advantage my reaction to the ending is the same as people's reaction to the ending to the 2015 Royal Rumble. - egnomac

28 Team Teen - Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi

Ami and Yumi join a super hero team of teenagers however they prove to be anything but super as they catch bad guys with pillows round them up in a sack then just lets them go but it gets worst when the team is captured by Mega Bully Ami and Yumi defeat him and instead of being grateful and thanking them they yell at them for beating up the bully and kick them off the team, really they saved your lives and you just kick them to the curb maybe next they should have just left them to die instead. - egnomac

29 Aloha Hoek - The Ren & Stimpy Show

This episode was already bad enough but the ending completely comes out of nowhere after Ren apparently drowns while trying to fly off the island and is carried to shore by a fly Stimpy begins weeping over Ren's apparent death only for them to be revealed to be Russian spies completing their mission which really makes no sense what so ever as it feels very rushed either they were too lazy or had no idea how to end this episode it completely comes out of nowhere and there was never any indication that there would be a twist ending it didn't work in Eat My Cookies and it defiantly doesn't work here. - egnomac

30 Vicky Gets Fired - The Fairly Oddparents

I know we've heard those kinds of messages where they say "have a thick skin" or "life is not fair" or "just deal with it". However, THIS was completely the wrong place to use it. Vicky Gets Fired is arguably the 2nd worst episode of The Fairly OddParents behind It's a Wishful Life since the ending of the episode basically has Timmy having to wish Vicky back to being his babysitter, essentially hammering in the Family-Unfriendly Aesop that you should have to put up with being bullied and abused since doing something about the bully/abuser will make things worse for others. WHO WROTE THIS EPISODE?! At least Butch Hartman apologized for It's a Wishful Life being made, but I have yet to hear an apology for this episode even though it's been a few years now since it was aired. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

31 Sorry, Wrong Ed - Ed, Edd n Eddy

While Ed, Edd n Eddy is pretty much a show that runs on slapstick and pure cartoon violence, I think Danny Antonucci and the writers went WAY too far on this one. Sure, Eddy may have had it coming when he took Rolf's cursed telephone, but how Edd completely shows no concern for Eddy's safety since all he cares about is proving to Eddy that all his misfortunes are coincidences was just unbearable to put up with. Even in the most bizarre of circumstances where it would have been impossible for it to be a coincidence, Edd is STILL bent on claiming that all of Eddy's misfortunes are mere coincidences and not an effect of the cursed telephone. Seriously, screw Edd in this episode! - ModernSpongeBobSucks

32 No Body Loves Grim - The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy

I can understand why most people would find this episode to be more funny than cruel, and while it is tame compared to most other episodes on this list, I do personally think this is one episode that didn't really sit well with me. I know Billy and Mandy isn't the type of show to expect a happy ending in, but the entire premise of Grim having to go without a body for a day or two while his body is much better off without him is honestly kind of a bit too cruel, if you ask me. Considering this aired in Season 3 around the point the show arguably started to get Denser and Wackier with its humor, I can't be the only one who has a problem with this episode. And with Grim getting yanked by the chain when he finally gets his body back, but is then run over by a panicking crowd and all his bones are chased off by dogs while Billy forces Grim to stick his head to the body of a baby doll again, I just find this episode hard to like. I will admit this probably isn't the worst of the bunch. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

33 Arthur's Big Hit - Arthur

Everyone knows about this episode Arthur hits D.W. after she throws his model plane out the window and doesn't apologize for it and ends ups grounded by his parents while D.W. receives no punishment what so ever this causes everyone to turn against Arthur even though he was justified in his actions later Binky punches him as ordered by his friends the tough customers and Arthur receives no sympathy not even from his parents dad even says "Well maybe that's how D.W. felt when you punched her" translation you hit your sister and you deserved to get punched for it even more insulting after Arthur apologizes to D.W. for hitting her she apologizes for breaking his plane then adds salt on the wounds by telling him he still build the plane all wrong. - egnomac

Oh God, This Episode - JPK

34 A Double Dilemma - Pokémon Advanced Challenge

Throughout the episode Ash is unfairly harassed and booed by the people of Petalburg City for no real reason other that their huge Norman fans after he and Pikachu get rid of Team Rocket the people are still jerks to Ash and only praise Pikachu. - egnomac

35 The Berry Hunt - Dora the Explorer

What? This was the best ending in the show because the rest suck, I laughed so hard when the bear chased Dora, that made the ending good, though I wish she was captured along with Boots and they both get tortured and bitten by the bear, that would be really funny!

Wait, there was a BEAR that chased Dora around? I'm not really big on preschool kids' shows, but wow, I'd love to see what went down in that ending! - ModernSpongeBobSucks

Every Dora ending is bad

36 Lisa Goes Gaga - The Simpsons
37 Smile for the Ed - Ed, Edd n Eddy

Just about the worst picture day experience any cartoon character could experience! Probably more than SpongeBob did in his picture day episode! Kevin had absolutely no reason to ruin Eddy's picture and the fact that everyone was jumping on the hate bandwagon against Eddy in this episode was just cruel. Topped off with Edd impersonating the principal to try and help Eddy, yet Eddy still gets detention even though it was Edd's fault for impersonating the principal and that Keven STILL gets his way in the end by ruining Eddy's last chance at getting a good picture and the key to his big brother's bedroom made Kevin one of the most insufferable Karma Houdini characters in the entire show's run! Not even Ed's gag at the end of the episode could save this, as Mr. Enter would call it, Animated Atrocity! - ModernSpongeBobSucks

38 The Old Man and the Big 'C' - Family Guy
39 The Day of Justice - Winx Club

They can’t just end with Nabu dying! And I know Aisha has Nex now (she should’ve chose Roy) but her and Nabu - they - they were a true shipping (Yes I am a shipper, I ship Amourshipping and Rocketshipping). And it was a shame for it to end like that.
" A Winx Club fan

40 The Juice is Loose - Family Guy
41 Johnny's Royal Flush - Johnny Test

The sewer gator literally got shredded up into gator bags. Enough said.

42 If It Smells Like an Ed - Ed, Edd N Eddy
43 The Return of Slade - Teen Titans Go!
44 The Southern Raiders - Avatar the Last Airbender
45 The Puppetmaster - Avatar: The Last Airbender
46 The Painted Lady - Avatar: The Last Airbender
47 Sean's Year in Space - Ready Jet Go

This episode ends with Jet, Mindy, and Sydney manipulating Sean into coming down from the treehouse (he was trying to stay in the treehouse for a year) with the smell of pot roast, his favorite meal. This is the worst episode of the show because this episode is pretty much a Sean Torture Porn. Also, Jet, Mindy, and Sydney don't take Sean's training seriously, constantly interrupt his privacy, and they get off scot-free. I know this show can make great episodes, but this one is the bottom of the barrel. I hope they never make an episode like this ever again. - Eraser

48 The Great Divide - Avatar: The Last Airbender

In order to put an end to the two tribes fighting Aang lies by making up a story that makes absolute no sense and just feels rushed and points out just how pointless this episode is. - egnomac

49 420 - Family Guy
50 In the Cards - Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi

Ami and Yumi fight over some guy by battling with cards Ami wins then is challenged by him and states that he has no interest in being her boyfriend and that the card game is his only love total nerd, she loses and he leaves her in the dust Ami and Yumi both make up and vow never to let another boy come between them again and of course another guy walks by them and they're at it again. - egnomac
