Worst Countries to Live In

The Top Ten
1 North Korea The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, also known as North Korea, is a country in Eastern Asia. Its capital is Pyongyang. It is currently ruled by the Juche leader Kim Jong-Un, after inheriting the title from his father, Kim Jong-Il, who in turn inherited it from his father, Kim Il-Sung.

North Korea's population as of February 18th, 2017 is 25,360,273.

North Korea is 100% the worst country ever!
Let's start with Kim Un Jong. Bro Kim doesn't care about anything or anyone except nuclear bombs and his military. He looks like a nice guy but don't let that trick you to go to North Korea. Doing even the smallest bad things can get you sent to a camp to be tortured, and maybe even execution! Also if you are a North Korean, you have to stay in North Korea for your WHOLE LIFE. Man, I feel so bad for the North Koreans.
Now I'll tell you one more time,, DO NOT GO TO NORTH KOREA.

Yes, unquestionably and without a doubt, North Korea is the absolute worst country on this earth.I.. I don't even know where to start; oh yah, the leadership. The North Korean Kim dynasty is a chain of brutal, tyrannical, belligerent, barbaric, idiotic, imbecilic fools who clearly care nothing for they're people and only about themselves, money, sex and nuclear missiles. The North Korean economy is a disaster, and would be nonexistent if not for they're illegal exports of fake Viagra, heroine, sexual slavery and weapons, which are present throughout other dictatorships around the world. They basically force young "volunteers" to go work unpaid in mines and other industries in third world dictatorships, as a corrupt method of getting other countries to to they're good side. Kim Jong Un and his thugs own like 99.9% of the wealth while his people starve. Almost the entire population of the country are hordes up into collectivized farms and or prison camps while those 100 or so lucky enough to be born into the families of a North Korean official live in the almost completely empty city of Pyongyang. There are absolutely no civil rights. The police can arrest and kill you for doing anything and there is nothing you or anyone you know can do about it. You can only eat, drink, ware, say and think what the government wants you to. You can't even have your own hairstyle. There is no welfare whatsoever and everyone basically are forced to work from birth to death. If you are caught conspiring to over through the government (AKA reading a banned book or something) you are thrown into what can only be described as concentration camps where you are regularly tortured in some of the cruelest and most savage ways imaginable. And if that wasn't bad enough, your family, your friends, everyone you know and love is arrested and brought into the camp just because of something you did or didn't do. And even after you die, your kids will remain in the same concentration camp, and so... more

2 Somalia Somalia, officially the Federal Republic of Somalia, is a country in the Horn of Africa. The country is bordered by Ethiopia to the west, Djibouti to the northwest, the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Indian Ocean to the east, and Kenya to the southwest. Somalia has the longest coastline on Africa's mainland. Its terrain consists mainly of plateaus, plains, and highlands. Hot conditions prevail year-round,... read more

Which Country has better living conditions, Somalia? Or Somaliland? Ah yes Somaliland, a country that has gained independence from Somalia since 1991 and is slowly developing economically (with funding from its own people), socially and politically, in democratic terms (without international governing law, status and financial subsidies). It is also safer than Somalia

Somalia is a recognized country by law, The United Nations and has received foreign aid and subsidies since its existence. However the country remains a Failed State and the number of refugees continues to increase.

Somalia is rated the most corrupt country in the world according to the 2018 Corruption Percentage Index. In 2007, there was a Belarusian cargo plane that crashed in Mogadishu's airport. A civilian witnessed this and said that a missile was fired from a boat close to the shore. The Somalian government later said that it was no missile and that it was just an accident. That is proof of corruption. I have never been here before but I'm sure its hell on earth from what I've heard. It is pirate infested, people are starving, and people are getting murdered for no reason.

3 Afghanistan Afghanistan, officially the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central and South Asia. Referred to as the Heart of Asia, it is bordered by Pakistan to the east and south, Iran to the west, Turkmenistan to the northwest, Uzbekistan to the north, Tajikistan to the northeast, and China to the northeast and east. Occupying 652,864 square kilometers (252,072... read more

I strongly pity all the women in Afghanistan who have to live in such cruel, inhuman ways. What happened to basic human rights? What happened to equality? It's completely disgusting. Never in any culture or country should women be discriminated in such horrific ways. I am not disrespecting the culture, purely just the way women are treated. Females and males are equal to one another and never should be any different. Both genders NEED eachother, so why be treated so differently? Domestic violence isn't okay either. The religion in Afghanistan has caused to much fighting and conflict. Religion is a deeply personal choice, don't judge or kill others for not following...equality means choice and the right to life.

Afghanistan is my birth country and believe me you don't want to live here. This deserves to be the 2nd worst country to live in after Syria.
Here are the reasons:

1) Extremely sexist country. Women are abused by their husbands and can't get help from the Government since in Afghanistan men have the right to beat up their wives.
2) Have a lot of extremist groups like Taliban, ISIS, Al Mujahiden. Working any job in government is a death sentence for them e.g. being a teacher, police, solider, firefighter etc...
3) No freedom when it comes to religion. As an afghan you have to Muslim. Denying that God exits could get you killed on the road. No time for police to come and execute you in prison.

I am very happy to have left Afghanistan and I feel very sorry for the people who lives there.

4 Syria Syria, officially the Syrian Arab Republic, is a Western Asian country located in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Levant. It is a unitary republic that consists of 14 governorates (subdivisions), and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the west, Turkey to the north, Iraq to the east and southeast, Jordan to the south, and Israel and Lebanon to the southwest. Cyprus lies to the west across the... read more

Syria is going through a brutal civil war, and no matter who wins Syria will suffer. The current official government is a dictatorship under Assad, who uses chemical weapons to harm children (allegedly). The rebels of the FSA aren't much better and only cause chaos and fighting. Then you have terrorists like Al Nusra mixed into the rebels. And worse of all, ISIS is based out of here. ISIS goes around destroying cities, historical sites, and tortures people.

And when the civil war ends and Bashar Al Assad prevails, (which is the most likely outcome), Syria will be poor and unable to rebuild without major investment. You know your country is the worst when there are thousands of people desperately trying to leave.

I had a Friend who was born is Syria and he said that is a wasteland from the battles and the wars, this made him a refugee and now lives in Australia. If his own country was so hard to live in that is made him to flee then it must be in the top 3.

5 Iraq Iraq, officially the Republic of Iraq, is a country in Western Asia. Iraq is currently led by President Fuad Masum and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. It is currently ranked 160th in the Institute for Economics & Peace's Global Peace Index, making it one of the most dangerous countries in the world (behind only South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Syria).

I am from Iraq. I was born in Basra in 1985 but I spent my life in Najaf. I thought that USA was going to make Iraq one of the best places in the world to live! But I was wrong. Simply, they destroy everything. Here you can not find work, clean water, electricity, heath care, education and so on. There is no freedom. You can get killed if you participate in demonstration. For me, I can't get married because I can rent a house because they are so expensive. Everything is so expensive even food.

My country should be among the top 3, this place is ruined by crazy religious Muslims, you are not safe wherever you go and everyone is a target, psycho sunni Muslims they kill the shia Muslims thinking this will take take them to heaven, and the shia Muslims are the same they kill the sunni believing this will take them to heaven. I don't believe this fight will end this will remain for eternity. All in the name of something called religion. Messed up place.

I am surprised America does not exist in the top ten. I wish people realize honor comes from good deads and this is an example of a nation of true inequality and terrible suffering. The western powers should not even have placed their soldiers or diplomats here, it should be a place of remembrance. Sadly, it's mostly seen as a nation of true hypocrisy in the face of oppression and violence.

Iraq has mostly cons holding it back. First of all, 75% of it is a desert. Second, you're not gonna get anywhere with no political involvement if you're any other race. Finally, there are many terrorists out there that hate everybody. The only real good part of it is that Islam is a peaceful religion.

6 Pakistan Pakistan was established in 1947 and is located in South Asia. Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan. Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar are other major cities of Pakistan. Urdu and English are official languages of Pakistan. World's second highest peak (K-2) and ninth highest peak (Nanga Parbat) are located in Pakistan.

I was born and raised in Canada, and my background country is Pakistan. I've been to Pakistan 4 years ago, and I'm coming back to Pakistan in about a day. I currently live in Canada. But I have to say that Pakistan is the worst country ever. The food there sucks, it's so hot, electricity can go out for a long time, bad wifi, the houses are so dirty, the people there are rude, ill mannered, and none of them have decency. The roads and shops look old and dirty, too much bugs, the clothes they sell for both women and men are just ridiculous, the people's religious beliefs are taken way too seriously, and there's too much bombings on a daily basis. It's hell. I would suggest you do not go there. I'm going there for a month..

Being Pakistani myself and after visiting every few years, I admit its not the best place to live but no way is it the worst. Yes it is very corrupt, most people have no people skills and short tempers. Its how you behave and who you know that makes a difference, money buys anything you want even police protection. In a country like Pakistan if you have money then you live like a king, you need to adapt with the culture and become very street wise to ensure no one even thinks of doing you over. Every time I visit, I conduct myself in a proper manner and adapt to every situation, I am very well respected. my brain and money earns my respect. In Pakistan, money certainly helps you walk the walk.

7 Sudan Sudan, officially the Republic of the Sudan, is a country in Northeast Africa. It shares borders with the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west, Egypt to the north, Eritrea to the northeast, Ethiopia to the southeast, Libya to the northwest, South Sudan to the south and the Red Sea. It has a population of 45.70 million people as of 2022 and occupies 1,886,068 square kilometres, making it Africa's third-largest country by area, and the third-largest by area in the Arab League. It was the largest country by area in Africa and the Arab League until the secession of South Sudan in 2011, since which both titles have been held by Algeria. Its capital is Khartoum and its most ...read more.

Well, I live in Sudan... I don't want to say it is the worst place in the world, because I believe it is relevant and to be frank I didn't live anywhere else to compare, but Sudan falling economy, wars, corrupted government and race issue for sure are not positive thing, the people lost their sense of mortality with semi civilized cities for those who didn't lose it for war in Darfur and the South. Yet, knowing that Sudan is a huge country living is not the same across the country. For example those who live in Darfur are as far from the center as for people living in other countries you feel the heat of war through news and refuges. Doesn't mean living in big cities is that great either. Family and friends which used to be the main value behind living in the country now disappeared with most people seeking better income in Gulf, EU or USA. Now I have more friends in any city in Saudi Arabia than in Sudan.

I don't believe that a person would be happier changing where they live ...more

Another African country that doesn't deserve financial Aid, only more HIV/AIDs, and systemic torture of useless by their own corrupt military and government.

Sudan has a corrupt political regime with useless, uncivilized people who eventually become uncivilized in any country they seek refuge.

West Africans and Sub-Saharan Africans are the worst kind of people and can turn any first world country into a ghetto (with race-baiting, scams, fraud, drug/weapon dealing/trading worldwide, more welfare dependency, producing 5 or more poor, uncivilized children into society, sham marriages to gain citizenship, violent gang crimes etc).

I wouldn't say Sudan is one of THE worst countries. The war is over and most people can live peacefully. The main problems are that the government does not allow basic human rights (I.E freedom of speech). There are more than enough jobs but the government restricts the jobs to only those who belong to the same political party. The cities are very pretty, Khartoum, port Sudan and many more. Sudan is home to many UNESCO world heritage sites including the Nubian city of Meroe. there are many natural sites in Sudan. All in all I would say it's pretty good for an African country. But definitely comes with many problems. Most however don't stem from war (contrary to popular belief) but stems from the corrupt and dishonest government and heads of state

I live in Sudan. And I wish I didn't, I really do. Living in the capital city, Khatoum, is total hell. I can't even begin to imagine what it is like outside it. Access to Internet is the worst you could possibly ably imagine, there is a lot of corruption and economic sanctions make it even worse. There is nothing to do here other than staying at home all day, where there is no internet. It will drive you crazy, it will.

8 Yemen Yemen, officially the Republic of Yemen, is a country in Western Asia, on the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula. It borders Saudi Arabia to the north and Oman to the northeast and shares maritime borders with Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia. It is the second-largest Arab sovereign state in the peninsula, occupying 555,000 square kilometres (214,000 square miles). The coastline stretches for about 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles). Yemen's constitutionally stated capital, and largest city, is the city of Sanaa. As of 2021, the population of the country is estimated at 30,491,000.

This country is being used as a battlefield for other conflict between countries around them, and like Somalia, there's almost no water here.

I'm Yemeni myself, and I say every single comment probably did a 3 minute research. The only reason Yemen is 10th was because of the arab spring. Now, it's terrorist groups, such as 'Houthis' which are corrupting the country. Yemen is not a safe country, but it has a lot of nice people. If you're a tourist and looking for a great place to stay, it would be Yemen, but right now it's a total mess. Also, education isn't great. Those are the 2 reasons I'm not living in Yemen anymore, and I do miss it a lot. Hope things go back just like they were before 2011.

Yemen should be higher Yemen is even worse than Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan,Iraq, Syria, and Sudan it should be number 1 in the worst countries, In North Korea no one is poor or starving. But in Yemen must of the peoples are starving and poor, Yemen currently faces worst civil war. It is also Saudi Arabia and Qatar's fault, Because it is really the war between Qatar and Saudi Arabia in Yemen.

This country should be higher than Australia and China. All Muslim countries should be above Australia and China! Why you may ask? Because the religion of Islam is terrible to women! Women can't get educated and have to dress head to toe in black in the heat!

9 China China, officially the People's Republic of China, is a country in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of more than 1.4 billion. China spans five geographical time zones and borders 14 countries, the second most of any country in the world after Russia. Covering an area of approximately 9.6 million square kilometers (3,700,000 sq mi), it is the world's third or fourth... read more

Look, don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with the more sane-minded people who come from mainland China (plus fled the country, I used to live in an area in the US that has a rich Chinese/Korean immigrant heritage), what I am talking about is the government, they call themselves the Chinese Communist Party, except it has more of a neo-fascist, pseudo-capitalist feel to give the impression of branching out. Xi Jinping is just a nasty person in general, as he was the one that made the country this way nowadays, with state propaganda, unnecessary Taiwan bullying, mass surveillance, etc, etc... it's to the point where its neighbors, such as Japan and South Korea, are becoming aware of what China is doing. I just feel sorry for those people who have to live under an oppressive regime...

Yes, the Chinese government does have multiple flaws. Yes, the government is corrupt. But some of the comments here are so rude and offensive, and it's upsetting to read something that generalizes a group of people. First of all, I bet that half of these people here haven't been to China before. You really can't judge something until you've learned about it, visited it, gotten diverse views on it, or etc. Also, I'd just like to point out that the women's rights in China are much better than the United States's. There's also no "baby killing" policy. Yes, there's a strict One Child policy but there have been some reforms. Having one child is a comfortable option but certainly isn't a mandatory choice. Also, saying that "All Chinese people are rude" is an awful generalization. First of all, how can you tell if a random stranger is Chinese? Many people from neighboring countries look similarly to people from China. Also, a small group of people from China may be rude, but not EVERYONE from that particular country is loud-mouthed and arrogant. When you say that a whole ethnic group is racist, you're basically being racist yourself. I'm not saying that I support the flawed government and its corruptness. But please read more into a topic and educate yourself on a subject before you start to criticize and judge. Don't make an offensive comment targeting a certain group of almost arbitrary people before you start to learn about them. Every group of people has bad people and good people. We're not all that bad, we promise.

10 Zimbabwe Zimbabwe, officially the Republic of Zimbabwe, is a landlocked sovereign state located in southern Africa, between the Zambezi and Limpopo Rivers.

Zimbabwe WILL BE A FAILED STATE if their is no change in governance in 2016. Economic collapse, unemployment and disease is prevalent in this heart of darkness. The worst thing about Zimbabwe is that no matter the lack of civil liberty, injustices and crimes against humanity, Zimbabwe is so insignificant to to the rest of the world thus major powers will do nothing. The people are suffering at the hands of this authoritarian regime.

Zimbabwe is the worst country to live. I was born there bit when it comes to facts Zimbabwe is the worst country to live in.

1: The Government sucks
2: People behave like barbarians
3:There is litter everywhere
...
I can go on and on about why Zimbabwe is the worst.

I lived in ZImbabwe my whole life and I've lived in the United States, so I have something to compare it to. In many ways it's actually better. It's free, safe, and easy to live if you understand how the country works

This country is full of sexually assaulted things happened in Zimbabwe. I think the girl who organized and won the Heroes of the Month on CNN has a dark past. I will know feminism got triggered now.

11 Democratic Republic of the Congo The Democratic Republic of the Congo, also known as DR Congo, DRC, DROC, Congo-Kinshasa, or simply the Congo is a country located in Central Africa.

Another African country that doesn't deserve financial Aid, only more AIDs, just like Sudan and any West African country (e.G. Nigeria, Ghana etc).

Congo has a corrupt political regime with useless, uncivilized people who eventually become uncivilized in any country they seek refuge.

Rape capital if the world, economic failure, warlords and a government so powerless it might as well not exist. Why is this hole not at least in the top 10.

I am very sad of hearing Congoese cobalt miners. They are paid very low. Phone batteries are made from cobalt. The phone industries are shocked to knew that. But the gov didn't care. And I think they are struggle to increase their income

Child labor is the worst here. I saw a documentary and the documenters were told to leave by the "police" in the area. Very corrupt and unstable.

12 Central African Republic The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Chad to the north, Sudan to the northeast, South Sudan to the southeast, the DR Congo to the south, the Republic of the Congo to the southwest, and Cameroon to the west. Lots of the people on here have no idea what they are talking about. Australia? Really? It has a very untouched eco-system and is beautiful with little violence. I live in Africa. The CAR is a very bad place, but it doesn't deserve to be nuked. The poverty can be stopped. So people who sit on their butts in America living in the "hood," come see what real violence is like.

Don't nuke the country because
A. It's a waste of weapons
B. They didn't harm our financial or other interests
C. They have plenty of problems without the threat of an attack.

Central African Republic already has problems with water and malaria disease, and the fact that it is basically halfway in the Sahara Desert, it is very bad.

13 Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia, officially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), is a country on the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. It has a land area of about 2,150,000 km2 (830,000 sq mi), making it the fifth-largest country in Asia, the second-largest in the Arab world, and the largest in Western Asia. It is bordered by the Red Sea to the west; Jordan, Iraq, and Kuwait to the north; the Persian Gulf, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to the east; Oman to the southeast; and Yemen to the south. Foreigners in Saudi Arabia from different countries around the world find this country very boring and strict to do such normal things they do in their countries. They say everything is old, the new technology and devices are only available in few shops. Most of shops are restaurants and super malls. No theaters or video game centers or even technology manufacturers. Latest mobile phones aren't sold in local stores in different cities around the countries. It takes a long time to get those new devices imported to this country and they become old. Most people order stuff from the internet outside of Saudi Arabia. Do you think it's the people or the government? freedom of speech is prohibited. Women can't remove the hijab or black cover (anti-male dress), but men can be naked or wearing only underwear (women can stare whenever they love! ). They hate the truth.

Disgusting how such a gloomy country as this one is funded by western countries, aiming to get as much cheap petrol as possible, and sell the weapons they manufacture so that Saudi Arabia's government can shell Yemen and send terrorists to ISIS. I don't want to beat about the bush any longer, so I have to say that a deeply religious and bigotic country like this makes it is a sort of hell on Earth. Citizens' rights are countinuously being violated, daily life is utterly controlled by the government, women have barely any right, people are stoned and flogged for doing simple things that in occidental cultures would be regarded as something normal and unpunishable, and a countless number of stuff. Stern punishments if you step beyond what sharia laws say, which are taken too strictly. For me, it's exactly the same as ISIS. But there's a huge difference, while ISIS doesn't count on other states' recognition, Saudi Arabia does due tu countries economic interests, and that's why we'll ...more

This is by far the worst country to live in. It's a racist country from the people to their laws against foreigners. Few years ago it was an empty desert and today the foreign workers built everything. Saudis in general are lazy, the don't like to work as they have grown up when the country discovered oil.

Everything is controlled by the elite class, there is no freedom of speech and no freedom to move. Never think of coming here, it's like living in a hell.

I am a girl from saudi. I read almost all your comments and realized that how closed minded people can be.

1. saudis don't support ISIS did you get that from your head? LOL

2. All saudis are well educated and open minded unlike you guys staring at your computers talking about my country.

3. Our religion is what makes us special and one of a kind, and if you have been living under a rock and don't know what Islam is, it is a religion about forgiveness, love, respect and mo re. s o instead of talking about Saudi and come up with stupid things, go do something that will ACTUALLY help you losers.

14 Burma Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups, bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand. Yangon (formerly Rangoon), the country's largest city, is home to bustling markets, numerous parks and lakes, and the towering, gilded Shwedagon Pagoda, which contains Buddhist relics and dates to the 6th century.

Maybe it shouldn't be on the top, but it should be in like the top 5. My parents were born there, but I was born in the U.S. People in this stupid country give so much respect to white people (I'm not being racist). I mean you can't even cross the road in this country if your not white. And the traffic is just horrible. It 's caused by stupid impatient bus and taxi drivers. I couldn't eat outside food because I always got food poisoning. And the worst thing is the way they treat Muslims. My Muslim friend was a soccer coach at an international school. One day one of the parents came to enroll her child at the soccer training and she asked whether he was Muslim or Christian. He said that religion doesn't have anything to do with football. Then she said that she was just asking, so he admitted he was Muslim. The next day the coach asked the kids to bring some balls from home. That woman's kid lost his ball at training and she blamed the coach and called him a Muslim criminal. After that ...more

I came back from Australia for 5 years and when I came back, lots of things has changed but not enough change. Australia I had so much fun there the memories, my friends, good holiday destination. But just when I went back to Burma, oh man it was hard getting a school it was just insane because I can speak Burmese but my parents think I won't be able to do well in public schools. Beside, back in 2009 public schools were strict like teacher were beating the out of kids if they don't listen well and do good. I got hit too, but that's changed after 2014 or 13. The good side is I got to meet my cousins again and old friends and they have kind service most of them man powered and they are happy to do their job. More bad side is importantly the political side. Yes the political side is really crap at their job. Studies shows that Burma only visits the UN rarely, I was like what the hell, Burmese government are so antisocial plus they never helped enough for the people in the 2008 Cyclone ...more

Everybody may love their country. But they will really (really) hate their government. It's true for us. Our country is ruled by stupid guys (Army generals). Laws are stupid. Our government has fully permission to take of our home, food, money even our lives. If you don't believe you can check : How our governments kill their citizens.

Funny because I'm spending the summer here. The drivers are rude and there are a lot of flies. It's also really hot here, but we manage. The thing is, the governments so damn lazy. With all those natural recources you could try to do something. No one is stepping up to try and improve this country.

And they are proud of it.
They way so many of them speak is way too loud, threatening, and aggressive.
They have mafia mentality in even in "professional" work environment.
Studied and worked there for 5 years and had so many horrible experiences. And I am not even a poor dark skinned immigrant (what shamefully they hate). I am just a white girt who went there to study arts. I can't even imagine what other immigrants may go through.
I am not saying there are not good people here, but it is still a terrible place to leave. Yes, they have good food. So what? you can find or good food everywhere.

Very trashy and dumb country. The TV is filled with reality TV shows and degrading stuff. The people are backward, violent, racist, loud and incredibly uneducated. The politics is toxic and so is the poor government. The schools have dumbed down and most of them are falling down producing a completely dumb society. Litter is everywhere the cities/towns are so dirty. You see Italian people littering everywhere. They are so loud too. Take away the museums and food and there is no culture but tower blocks, greyness, litter and horrible loud stupid people who believe it's okay to be stupid.

16 South Sudan South Sudan, officially the Republic of South Sudan, is a landlocked country in northeastern Africa that gained its independence from Sudan in 2011. Its current capital is Juba, which is also its largest city. It is bordered to the east by Ethiopia, to the north by Sudan, to the west by the Central African Republic, to the southwest by Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south by Uganda and to the southeast by Kenya.

This country may be the newest country in the world but that is the only thing South Sudan has going for it. This country is basically a war battlefield. Plain and simple.

South Sudan is the least developed country in the world. The government could care less about its citizens and the leader of the country got into some useless dispute with the deputy prime minister making the situation worse. If you go to this country you will literally see nothing destroyed from the war. Why? Because there was literally nothing to destroy. There is hardly any infrastructure. Crime rates are sky high and people are so desperately poor and hungry they will eat dirt. If you go out at night you can't see anything because there are no city lights for miles around. Even if there was lights you still couldn't see any people because the people there are so black that any African American would be jealous.

Do not give any money or reject providing assistance to either North or South Sudan. Both Countries are corrupt with too many needy people. They are rude, aggressive, liars, racists, uncivilized and barbaric. They export terror, violence, too many children (whom they neglect), and bring down the standard of living of any first world nation into a third world state.

The same applies to Congo, Nigeria, Somalia, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Kenya, and Uganda.

Should be number 1. It's the newest country in the world but that's the only good thing about it. You know the stereotype that most African countries are super poor and everyone lives in mud huts while starving and being chased by animals? That stereotype is true there.

Every other person in India wants put blame on an politician/government for its issues like corruption, poverty, lack-of-quality in education etc. , but no one wants to elect a right candidate nor they are interested in having the election policies changed.

Most of the population is literally unproductive to ever-developing nation. There is no one who wants to talk about reducing the population (there by getting 80% of the issues resolved) but many speak of changing constitution.

It has become an dead-easy game for politicians to classify citizens by Religion and exploit Caste System (which 90% of the world's population doesn't understand).

Despite an lead in IT, but & many other sectors, hardly 3% of population pays income tax and rest-of-so-called-citizens expect politicians and government to respond to just about all their needs.

If India has any issues, its not because of its law makers/constitution/law but only because of its citizens. It should be at 1 (Its been 66 years since not-so-independence and God knows when will it be developed).

18 Venezuela Venezuela, officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, is a federal republic located on the northern coast of South America.

Venezuela right now is very messed up. I'm Venezuelan and at a very young age, I moved to the US, and boy, am I glad. My dad has to work there and sometimes he doesn't even get to return home! The protests are crazy, but if it is what it has to do then let it do it. Venezuela is thought to be a very rich country because it has the most oil, but trust me, they only sell THAT. If I were the Venezuelan President, I would have changed things a little bit so I could also get money on three other things that Venezuela should be flourishing with: tourism, food production and fishing. The beaches and natural landmarks should really attract people, a whole bunch of forest really helps it to produce food, and it borders so much water, it should MASTER at fishing! I hope Nicolas Maduro is reading this, because Maduro in Spanish is mature, and he is really not living up to his last name.

I am from Venezuela, moved to the U.S. and it has been so hard to change my skin and get rid of all the garbage and mediocracy I learned there. Venezuelans are good for two things, smiling, pretentious and useless. They talk too much and never achieve anything. I was told that by a foreigner and I started to concentrate in changing that about myself because I realized it was true!. No goal oriented because the money of the oil had us spoiled. Our parents never applied discipline on us. I have been quitting all my friends because they never grew up. The surfer in high school still the surfer today at age 42 and asking his mom for money. That is why the government still working like that because the population is equally immature, mediocre, useless, and when they fail they treat is as a victory. And yes, you family will betray you! Trust no one, they will ask you for money and never give it back. I had friend visiting me and coming up with business ideas, asking me for $15K and then I realized they never met the partners they mentioned, they made up the entire thing regarding the business they told me about. Venezuela has what it deserves.

19 Israel Israel, officially the State of Israel, is a country in Western Asia. It is situated on the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and the northern shore of the Red Sea, and shares borders with Lebanon to the north, Syria to the northeast, Jordan to the east, and Egypt to the southwest; it is also bordered by the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to the east and west,... read more

I live there and this country is not as good as it seems by the Americans. Now the reasons:

-everything is expensive
-horrible people, think themselves they are the best
-if you tell somebody you are a Christian you get wrecked immediately
-the education system forces the teachers to tell horrible lies about Christians and Muslims, and pretty much about everyone who isn't an Israeli
-they kill, curse and kill each other. By my experience of being a teenager in Israel-you can have no friends even if you are good with them, they will call you an ass anyway.
-they treat Russian and Arabs as they were pigs
-horrible music
-they call themselves a democratic nation but believe me they are not.

Even though I'm 14 years old I can promise you and even swear those words aren't a lie.

From my life experience in that country it's very hard to live there and almost impossible to Finnish the month with the poor salaries there, the taxes are incredibly expensive and I think it's the nation with the most taxes in the world... Not to mention everything is super expensive there (food, real estate, cars etc.. ) only if you are very rich or your dad is Steve Jobs you can live there normally..

20 Iran Iran, also known as Persia, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a sovereign state in Western Asia. The capital city is Teheran and the major city is also Tehran. The country's official language is Persian.

Iran is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations, beginning with the formation of the Elamite kingdoms in the fourth millennium BC. The country's rich cultural legacy is reflected in part by its 22 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the third-largest number in Asia and eleventh-largest in the world. Iran is a multicultural country comprising numerous ethnic and linguistic groups. ...read more.

Great country, low poverty rate, and very safe. The only really bad thing is that their government is on par with Russia in terms of oppression. However, they are very much fighting against terrorism and are very active in getting rid of ISIS and other terrorist groups. Their military is strong, and I don't know personally, but from personal communication with Wolfychu herself, who happens to be Iranian, the people are pretty nice. Plus, they do a lot of industrial and scientific work in house instead of relying on outside sources.

Now, the only bad thing about the country, as I said before, is the horrific government, which, although not as bad as Russia in terms of oppression, is still very close to Russia in oppression. Although it is not as severe as that of Russia, Internet Censorship is still active in blocking sites that they see as a threat to the country. It is only a Monarchy with a semi-democratic constitution in place instead of a full democracy, although really, ...more

Iran is a horrific country for a foreigner to live but it might not be as bad as you think for Iranians themselves.
Strict Islamic rules are hard to tolerate by Westerners. Here everything begins "in the name of God"! Tourists who visit Iran should put a scarf on their head just after landing. Under no circumstance you can find alcohol. People drive like the Formula 1 championship. Having said all these, Iran is a much safer country than its neighbors. Its economy is gradually growing and unemployment rate is gradually decreasing. I have to say that Iran has always been unlucky. First Arabs invaded Iran and razed it to the ground 14 centuries ago. Then Mongols invaded Iran and half the population died 7 centuries ago. And finally at the moment, US and other major powers of the world are at an indirect war with Iran due to it is nuclear program.

The major determinant to judge if country is good or bad is to look at the security in all aspects (social, national, etc), lifestyle and comfort. Iran is currently is securest country in both Middle East and in the whole Euroasian region. If you look closely at the lifestyle of Iranian you will notice a very modern lifestyle far ahead the other countries and the comfort level is considerably good. It is unquestionable that poverty is an inevitable social phenomenon that exists all over the worlds. It also exist here, but thankfully Iran has a lot less homeless people than in Europe or the USA. The only reason why Iran is judged to be a bad country is due the its independence on the west and the nuclear program. For you to be able to judge Iran properly, you either have to make enough research, or simply pay it a visit

Iran is the worst place on earth, not regarding North Korea. I am from Iran and I honestly tell you this is not the place you want to be in. wearing hejab is compulsory (even for foreigners), drinking, throwing a party that involves girls, keeping a pet dog, expressing your ideas about religion,... are all forbidden. If the police catch you with a dog, it will take the dog away from you. The economy is bad, corruption is rampant and all the stupid leader cares about is intervening with other countries affairs.
Iranians are very strange people. They have the mentality of middle ages. They are very hostile towards each other, making the society a real hell for themselves.

21 Chad Chad, officially the Republic of Chad, is a landlocked country in northern Central Africa. It is bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon to the south-west, Nigeria to the southwest (at Lake Chad), and Niger to the west. It has a population of 16 million, of which 1.6 million live in the capital and largest city N'djamena.

Chad is in shambles. So much crisis and displacement which explains why you see so many people from Chad in western African countries. They're trying to flee from corruption.

Almost died laughin when I saw chad as number 34...seriously. How do you guys choose these numbers? Randomly pull them? I know my own country. Chad should be at least number two if not number one.

Japan at top ten? Japan is an awesome place to live except for eathquakes... But the life in Chad is so much harder...

Lowest life expectancy on the planet. Enough' said

22 Niger Niger or the Niger, officially the Republic of the Niger, is a landlocked country in West Africa. It is a unitary state bordered by Libya to the northeast, Chad to the east, Nigeria to the south, Benin and Burkina Faso to the southwest, Mali to the west, and Algeria to the northwest. It covers a land area of almost 1,270,000 km2 (490,000 sq mi), making it the second-largest landlocked country in West... read more

Do not give any money, and avoid providing assistance to Niger. They begin helpless and needy, and later become ruthless, lying pigs. They are imported support and aid, but they export terrorism, violence, neglected children, and anger. They have the lowest HDI; make it stay that way.

The same applies to Congo, Nigeria, Somalia, Jamaica, Haiti, South Sudan, and Kenya.

Also:
1: How is Italy worse than South Sudan
2: Sure, North Korea is corrupt but Syria has a civil war.
3: Pakistan is definitely better than Sudan

Why is this only at #31. It has the lowest Human Development Index ranking of any country. Australia, the country with the 3rd highest ranking is three places above at #28. Maybe because Niger doesn't have as many tourists as Australia, I guess...

Niger is another African Country with self-hating, closet racists, that emigrate and upset (by being race/religious baiters) civilised countries around the world. The West African Countries deserve to be taken and their people wiped out by BOKO HARAM.

23 Poland Poland, officially the Republic of Poland, is a country in Central Europe, bordered by Germany to the west; the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south; Ukraine and Belarus to the east; and the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave) and Lithuania to the north. With a population of approximately 38.5 million people, Poland is the sixth most populous member state of the European Union. Poland's capital and largest metropolis is Warsaw. Other major cities include Kraków, Łódź, Wrocław, Poznań, Gdańsk and Szczecin. It is currently led by President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. ...read more.

I voted for this place to share my opinion, not because it's the worst country. Someone said that there are 13 year olds saying they're gigachads, I'm pretty sure that there are more american kids doing that. There are some dumb rules about segregation and stuff, but all of the other comments against poland are heavily racist. You can talk to hundreds of other places on earth who all have rules which discriminate far more than poland. I hate this list because it lets people share their heavily racist opinions.

Poles are some of the most miserable, complaining, arrogant, ignorant, petty, xenophobic, dishonest people you'll find anywhere. I lived there and met hundreds of them. Mist are also 'experts' on every imaginable topic - especially when they have no idea what they're talking about. With some exceptions the above is generally true, and objectively honest Polish people (a rarity) know it is. My god, they don't even like or trust each other let alone most other cultures, nations, or people.

Poland might have better circumstances of living compared to the other countries in the bottom 25, but the people here just ruin it. Poland is home to some of the most close-minded people on the entire planet that discriminate against minorities, whether it depends on race or disability, the only way to live here is be a white, hetero, neurotypical man or woman. I don't think that would make a good country, personally. Also, the amount of 13-year-olds on the internet that are from here that think they're "gigachads" is embarrassing and ruins this country beyond repair.

Poland is cancer, I hate living there, the language is a complete garbage that no one wants or is actually able to learn, the economy is so awful that people emigrate to Germany and other wealthy countries every year just to avoid getting messed by the crappy salary you get offered there. And all that thanks to Russians, they're subhumans and should be shot on sight.

24 Cuba Cuba, officially the Republic of Cuba, is a sovereign state comprising the island of Cuba as well as Isla de la Juventud and several minor archipelagos.

Cuba is not the worst place to live, but is not a great place either. Let me explain, I was born here and sure, you can't compare the hell in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, and Sierra Leone to Cuba. However, everybody has dreams, motivations, and wants to get out of the hole he's living in. Now, we do agree that the hole varies depending on your perspective on living standards. But there's a line, you need to have at least clothing, food, and a house or lodging, and a decent job that pays for that. Not possible here, the only reason Cuba does not collapse is because of our culture: people living in parent's house with grandparents, and so forth... It's normal and accepted. It is family, and what's left of it, what has sustained this; otherwise, we would have a much bigger crises than we have today, we would have famines. The other part is freedom, there's none here; you cannot speak out your mind; you see something wrong, you better don't speak about it, or denounce it. Speaking ...more

To live in Cuba is horrible. I'm so happy I left 15 years ago!
Cuba should be right at the top because of crime rate, corruption, violence, poverty, oppression and no civil rights or liberty.
The place is beautiful, a paradise if you go to visit, but hell for those who stay. Ask people who lived in Cuba and they will agree.

Hello! I'm cuban like many of you. I'm proud to be cuban, but I did expect it in this list. I mean, It is a communist country, and its also very poor :V
What mostly surprised me was that the most populated places are worst than cuba
but yes, I do agree that it is one of the worst places to live in.

You people are wrong. Cuba has no serious crime If your not looking for it. I do agree though that its hard to live there. But the people are so kind and understang. If this were based on hospitality it should be number 1.

25 Palestine Palestine (State of Palestine, is a de jure sovereign state in Western Asia. It is officially governed by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and claims the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. After the Holocaust during WW2 the Jews said "we must never forget" and "We must never let this happen again" Agree 100%. So why are they doing the exact same thing to another people? Its hypocritical. Israel reminds me of the kid who get bullied so much that they flip out and shoot the school up. I feel for them that they really have been shat upon for most of history but that's not an excuse to turn around and dish it out to others. The Jews have a choice: their history could teach them compassion or vengeance. Up to them to decide.

Just because of religion and independence, Israel and Palestine have been battling for years. There's no ceasefire. Schools have been destroyed, with innocent children being killed/injured. There's always sounds of explosions through the nights, and troops killing people. It is a sad sight to see. It is, however, human nature, and things like this have happened in the past and will continue for ages to come.
