Top 10 Worst Disney Musical MoviesSomeone’s gonna add Frozen to this list. I just know it. Anyway, Disney has come out with a lot of movies that happen to be musicals. Unfortunately, not all of them are good. Which goes without saying.
The Top Ten
Teen Beach Movie, more like Teen Cringe Vomit
This movie makes NO sense! How did they end up in a fictional beach musical while surfing? They kinda show that the surf board is magic, but I just don’t understand how that’s possible. The characters are beyond unlikeable. I get that their actions are supposed to be exaggerated to show that they’re not people of the real world and are characters in a musical, but I just wanted to slap them whenever they broke into song and dance. Also, after the two main characters got back to the real world, they still ended this movie with a musical number even though they established that that is not normal or possible in the real world! The only thing I like about this movie is that they point out how no one’s hair gets wet in fictional movies. That’s always something I found weird. Like in the Little Mermaid. Teen Beach Movie is honestly worse than High School Musical. I feel like people will disagree with me on that because bandwagon. Either way, every musical DCOM is terrible. - MegaSoulhero
I hated both Descendants one and two. I didn’t see the big deal in these movies, it was cheesy and the songs were trash. Definitely not one of Disney’s best movies. - NightJinx
I watched this movie a while ago and is anyone else confused. Since Jay is the son of Jafar why does he steal? Wasn’t that Aladdin’s thing not jafar’s. Also this is the one thing I hate about this movie it is that they took the best disney villains and made them look stupid sorry about that and the sequel is horrible. - Dinglehopper
This got a sequel. But no one likes this movie. Why would it get a sequel? In fact, it’s getting a third movie. So I guess Descendants is the new High School Musical. It’s just as annoying anyway. This movie manages to take great and memorable Disney villains and completely ruin them. They look more like cosplayers than villains. They even got Galinda to play Maleficent. She makes the 2014 Maleficent seem more faithful. The soundtrack really doesn’t fit. Originally, this wasn’t supposed to be a musical, but Kenny Ortega came in and decided to make it one. It relies too heavily on hip hop. They even ruined Be Our Guest. One of the greatest Disney songs of all time. Terrible. Just terrible. - MegaSoulhero
I know this movie has fans, even though I haven’t met any of those fans, but I personally found this movie to be very annoying. First of all, none of the songs are good or even memorable. The characters aren’t great either. They all act like cartoon characters. It’s hard to take anyone seriously. Like the villain for example. I just feel like he’s way too over the top. It’s ironic that the dragon that is the only cartoon character in the movie feels more like a character than any of the humans. Also, let me talk about the dragon. Elliott is fine as a character, but I find it hard to believe that Pete was able to hide him given that people could easily hear the dragon coming even when he’s invisible. Also, if I wanted to see a cartoon dragon turn invisible, I would just watch Dragon Tales. The only good thing to come from this movie was the Main Street Electrical Parade float. This movie really sucks. - MegaSoulhero
The characters were kind of annoying - NightJinx
Teen Beach 2 is such a bad movie. Which isn’t surprising since an actual good DCOM is very rare. How did Teen Beach Movie ever get a sequel? I doubt anyone actually liked that movie. However, I will say that this one is actually better than the first one. This one at least tries to tell a story and it has some pretty touching moments. Unfortunately, most of the characters are still very irritating. Also, it doesn’t follow the rules that the first movie set up. As the dumb as that movie was, this is a sequel and it should stay faithful. This movie actually takes place in the real world, yet there are still musical numbers even though they pointed out in the first movie how ridiculous that is! It’s bad enough Teen Beach Movie got a sequel, but the sequel can’t even stay consistent. - MegaSoulhero
This, of all Disney movies, above Teen Beach 2 and High School Musical 2? Pfft... HAHA! - Mcgillacuddy
No. Just no.
There are only a few good things to say about this movie. Hades is a pretty entertaining villain, even though he can be pretty incompetent at times, and the I really love the song Go the Distance. Those are literally the only good things about this movie. Everything else is garbage. It has a large use of gospel music which feels very out of place in this type of movie. I would forgive, but there are other songs included that aren’t gospel numbers and the mixture just isn’t right. The jokes are very unfunny. None of them get a laugh. The characters are unbearable. They’re either jerks or just straight up annoying. This is not a good movie. It honestly gets worse each time I watch it. - MegaSoulhero
I hated this movie as well!
This is one of the worst theatrically released live action films Disney has ever come out with. In fact, I’d probably put it in the category of so bad it’s good. There are tons of moments that are so ridiculous that they made me laugh. The acting is so terrible. These are all great actors, but the stuff they do here are so unintentionally funny. There’s this one scene with Chris Pine and Billy Magnussen that made me wonder how this movie managed to become a thing. There’s a lot of things that don’t make sense and the pacing is very rushed. Honestly, this movie is terrible, but it’s one of those movies that you have to see to see how terrible it is. - MegaSoulhero
Basically, all the High School Musical movies are terrible. The second one is easily the worst one. Why does it even have “high school” in the title if most of the film doesn’t even take place at a high school? The main setting of this movie is a beach club or something. One of my main problems with the franchise is LITERALLY ALL THREE OF THEM FOCUS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TROY AND GABRIELLA AND THERE’S ALWAYS CONFLICT INVOLVING IT! I just find that very annoying. In this one, Sharpay pretty much gets in the way of their relationship. She was already unlikeable in the first one, but she’s unbearable here. I will say a few good things about this movie. I love the song “I Don’t Dance”. It’s pretty catchy. Also, Ryan is a pretty enjoyable character. Still, this movie is very awful and I regret ever watching it. - MegaSoulhero
One of my favorite movies. - 445956
Oh come one, this is a classic. - Not_A_Weeaboo
There are only 6 songs in this movie, or 5 if you don’t count reprises, but this is still labeled as a musical. An irritating musical. I have a strong hatred for cats. But that’s not why I hate this film. I hate it because the characters are atrocious! Some of them are annoying and some of them are just bland. Also, why would their owner leave their fortune to cats? That makes no sense. The songs are so forgettable. Except for that one song that’s just so repetitive. There’s not really much to say. It’s just very bad. - MegaSoulhero
The owner leaves the story to the cats simply because it is just that - a make-believe cartoon story. That is a actually a very common theme in some stories. - clusium
I DO NOT WANT A SHOT FOR SHOT REMAKE
WITH BAD ACTING
AND LOOKS WORSE
WHO ASKED FOR THIS
I have had enough with classics getting remade.
Remake Black Cauldron or Pocahontas, not this.
Those could be done better, this would have been amazing to have beat the original.
DO NOT SEE THIS.
I cannot believe this made money.
I cannot believe Cinderella (2015) made money.
Make it like Jungle Book (2016)-better than the original and improved upon. That director had an idea and it really worked. This did not.
This sucked. - iliekpiez
Wait a minute, this movie was great had great IMDB and truly beautiful however I prefer the classic but this is till good
@MegaSoulhero the Christopher Robin premiere is on July 30th and you have to get there at 6. - Trollsfan536
Disney has been coming out with a lot of live action reboots lately. Most of the time they’re not good. The only good one so far was Jungle Book. The Christopher Robin movie, however, looks like it might be good. Also, I managed to get a ticket to attend the red carpet premiere for that movie via D23. So I’ll probably get to see it early. And I say “probably” because despite being the one to buy the ticket and despite the ticket having MY name on it, my mom’s the D23 member in the family and apparently the actual D23 member has to show up. Which doesn’t make sense at all. I’m hoping that I can still get in. Anyway, as far as remakes go, Beauty and the Beast was very pointless. It tried too hard to be exactly like the original while not realizing what made it so impactful. They added new elements, but they mostly feel like filler. This movie is a waste of time. I don’t know why so many people like it. - MegaSoulhero
I'm sorry but I just don't know why they need a third Cinderella movie. I think they should have just kept the first one because that was amazing.
This is not a movie but rather a pop-culture sensation with the most overrated songs in musical history:
The opening song is the best song in this entire movie.
Do You Want to Build A Snowman is annoying and over the top
For the First Time in Forever is powerful but then Elsa ruins it
Love is an Open Door is catchy but makes the movie predicable
Let it Go is unnecessary and all over the place
In Summer is fine
The reprises are decent
As for my thoughts on the movie itself, I had mixed feelings about it. The first half is dull and it’s just all singing while the second half is pretty good with a fantastic climax. I give this a 5/10.
The Frozen hate needs to stop.
Oh stop it.
This movie was terrible and the songs weren’t very good at all. - NightJinx
I will say that in this version, Baloo was a better character - iliekpiez
This isn’t a horrible movie by any means, but looking back, it’s just not that great. The characters are very uninteresting, the pacing can be slow at times, and some of the songs, with a few exceptions, aren’t very memorable. Overall, it’s kind of a boring film. This is why I prefer the live action remake. It actually managed to improve the story and make it more exciting. That’s how you do a remake. I still don’t know why they’re doing a Lion King remake when there’s not really anything to improve. - MegaSoulhero
Not disney and not a musical - Trollsfan536
I have a feeling someone meant to add The Little Mermaid but clicked this by mistake. - MegaSoulhero
Screw this remake. Everything about this is awful. Just wait for the Lion King remake instead of this.
