The Angry Outlaw #57 The Red and Black Colored Menace

Let me ask you something. Ever since Virtual Reality was introduced gamers are hooked to a new dimension in gaming, but is it exactly for everybody its to travel back in time when gamers were not ready for that new landscape that was tested out by Nintendo.

He is the meanest outlaw in all of america, he does not hold back on anything or anyone, he'd rather stick it up there's and go screw a limp wang, then talk about the most dreaded terror of furious strength in full power of rage. He is the angry outlaw, he is the angry! angry! Outlaw!

Background: Back in the golden era of Nintendo was soaring, and saving all of gaming as we play them today. After the success of both the console systems, and handheld’s early success. The next big thing in the mid 90’s would come in the form of a hybrid like console in the Virtual Boy. Codenamed the VR-32 was the next new innovative brand by the Nintendo company. Well… not so much. Its a very odd transition for one to go from a traditional route to a much more different and unusual route especially for the idea of having this implanted on the gamers head. So in that summer of 1995 the Virtual Boy was released to the public.

The Gist, and General Feel: I mean just look at this thing its got a red and black color tandem cool right? It gets old afterwards though, and the controls are weirdly placed how that can be able to hold onto will make things pretty slippery especially in the toughest climates (if you dare try to you are a brave soul). What makes this console so bad in design is the legs on it stick out like a sore thumb. In the very short lived run the Virtual Boy had a total of a whopping 22 games. Which might be the lowest for any console library. I will not look at all of the games, but the notable titles that stand out.

Games: First up is Wario Land, it might be the best game on the whole system. Its a fun platform game where Wario can dash towards the screen is a nice tough. You just get past each level. Its a game I would recommend if you're looking for games that are considered the best. Well this one is just that unfortunately it had to be on this piece of contraption.

Next game is kinda similar in a way, but goes on infinity rounds and that is Mario Clash. Its based around the old arcade game style which if you player Super Mario Bros. 3 they pay homage to it when you fight each other to lose a turn. Here they take it where you can also pick the spiked shells and throw them on top as well. This one really destroyed the minds of gamers, and is impossible to keep on going and playing as if the Virtual Boy was taken over your face. Even if you have the durability of playing this for hours of time you must be a masochist of some sort to go the distance to this degree.

Waterworld is a tie in license game I recommend you turn away to. If you didn't like the movie that makes it easier to avoid the game itself right? The vehicle you control is Red, and the sea is Black. Imagine those two things being the opposite way around. Slow moving gameplay, poor textures, and a perfect way to sum up Waterworld as the worst thing Kevin Costner has ever done. Slap the license title to Ocean and that recipe is at even.

Red Alarm, Ha Red is right as implied. You just shoot things outta the sky take them down the stage is clear its boring, but decent at best. After playing the first five minutes though be prepared to take breaks in between playing something like this in one stage nevertheless. Now if we're talking about incoming alarms I got a better one... ''(Incoming) behind!'' That sounds way more epic and engaging now doesn't it? The draw distance is very weird the way everything is all undertone feel of seeing squiggly lines looping over and over. This one will really drain the brain fast.

Teleroboxer is a 3D boxing game right into your face and is actually the only one to showcase what it could have pulled off the VR perspective. Gameplay is very responsive and has that Punch Out Feel. Its a very good game, but unfortunately it son Virtual Boy.

The Virtual Boy was a massive failure from a commercial standpoint, and as a general idea that nobody actually really wanted yet in the mid 90’s. We were already fine with cartridges, and CD based running systems. Eventually though in the 8th gen consoles Sony wanted to revive this failed experiment idea to life by importing some existing games to showcase what it could do. While its not as big of a life sucking headache as the Virtual Boy. It still has that limitations I still feel… did that things just started hissing at me? (Virtual Boy latches onto Outlaw) Get off me you vile machine you, UGH! Narrator: Eventually he finds a weapon of good size nearby to beat the Virtual Boy without mercy. Gee technology can sometimes be scary when you least expect it play possum like it has for me. Virtual Boy is a cult failure where some companies dd it their own weird way, and this is something Nintendo will never touch again, and now I shall bury this to the graveyard until we meet again.
