Worst Indie Bands of All Time

Counting down the absolute worst indie bands that dare to even call themselves "indie". The kings and queens of rubbish beats, rubbish lyrics and retarded fans. Mostly all wannabe pop failures that had no choice but to label themselves as indie.
The Top Ten
1 The Neighbourhood

A tween pop band that had to label themselves indie to get limelight. They're American but use British spelling for their name. The have only one real person in their band, their lead singer. With lyrics like "one love, one house, no shirt, no blouse", you wonder if One Direction would wanna have a collaboration with them.

2 Sigur Ros Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band from Reykjavík, who have been active since 1994. Known for their ethereal sound, frontman Jónsi Birgisson's falsetto vocals, and the use of bowed guitar, the band's music is also noticeable for its incorporation of classical and minimalist aesthetic elements. The band is named after Jónsi's sister Sigurrós Elín.

I would love a song that was under 5 mins and wasn't in a made up language

Shouldn't be on this list.

3 The Kooks The Kooks are an English rock band formed in 2004 in Brighton. The band currently consists of Luke Pritchard, Hugh Harris, Alexis Nunez, and Peter Denton. The original bassist was Max Rafferty, and the founding drummer was Paul Garred.

The Kooks are an absolutely fantastic band and if you have actually listened to them, they have a lot of depth in their songs and make fantastic music. Their band members are so talented, especially the bassist.

Their songs do lack depth and most of the people that like them are generic indie fangirls, or guys that wanna bang generic indie fangirls.

4 Bloc Party
5 Violet Femmes

I admit there are times that they don't feel that bad. But they are.

6 The 1975 The 1975 are an English pop-rock band originating from Manchester. The group consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matthew "Matty" Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer George Daniel.

They are awful musically and extremely commercial. One Direction of "indie" world.

7 Kaiser Chiefs Kaiser Chiefs are an English indie rock band from Leeds who formed in 2000 as Parva, releasing one studio album, 22, in 2003, before renaming and establishing themselves in their current name that same year.
8 Death Cab for Cutie Death Cab for Cutie is an American alternative rock band, formed in Bellingham, Washington, in 1997. The band is composed of Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr.

Crap name for a band

9 Starsailor Starsailor is a British rock band formed in 2000 in Wigan, Greater Manchester. Their music is characterized by a blend of indie rock and post-Britpop elements, featuring emotive lyrics and rich instrumental arrangements. They gained commercial success with their debut album "Love Is Here," which was certified Platinum in the UK. Throughout their career, Starsailor has been nominated for several awards and continues to maintain a loyal fan following.
10 Gomez

They should never have formed.

11 Missio
12 The Enemy

15 Alt-J Alt-J is an English indie rock band formed in 2007 in Leeds, by Joe Newman, Thom Sonny Green, Gus Unger-Hamilton and Gwil Sainsbury.
16 Milky Chance

A prime example of finding a specific sound and being unwilling to diverge from said sound. Stolen Dance, Flash Junked Mind, Down By the River, and Fairytale are musically uninteresting and all hold the same shallow beat and rhythm. Listening one after another, they are blend into the same noise. Their newer songs like Cocoon and Firebird add small twists but the formulaic structure is evident. Beyond the empty sounds, lyrically, MC is unremarkable with a voice that is equally uninteresting.

A band that I like a handful of songs but samples the worst of the indie industry: weak lyrics and instrumentals baroque noises and vocals to imitate deviation from the standard pop.

17 Blossoms

A disgrace to the world of music. Their songs are all similar, bland and repetitive.

18 The Whigs
19 Counterfeit
20 Automatic Loveletter
21 The Score
