Top Ten Worst Laut.de Ratings

Martin_Canine
Despite my list of the Worst AllMusic Ratings, I actually like AllMusic in most cases, they are usually fair and they like all genres equally. But laut.de, a German online music critic website, is different. They are biased, care more about public image than the actual music and openly don't like certain bands and artists. Also, they are extremely quick on the lowest rating. These are some of their worst ratings.

The Top Ten

1 Planktonweed Tape - Spongebozz (1 star)

They praise almost everything about the album: they call his multisyllabic rhyming so complex that it appears to be new rhyming record, the lyrics work in context, his doubletime is really fast,... but he's gimmicky, so the lowest rating is just fine, isn't it? - Martin_Canine

2 Humanoid - Tokio Hotel (1 star)

Tokio Hotel are a bit like Nickelback in German speaking countries: completely overhated due to their hype in the 00s, but no one actually listened to more than a song. This 1 star rating is purely the result of that hate, because as always when they write 1 star reviews, they admit that the album is not entirely bad. In their review to their most recent album "Dream Machine" they even admit they would rate the album higher if it was by another band. - Martin_Canine

3 Verschwende Deine Zeit - Silbermond (2 stars)

For whatever reason, laut.de hates German alternative rock/indie band Silbermond and panned each of their albums. Even though tje band is highly popular and is featured on almost every German user poll about the best German bands of all time by several websites. - Martin_Canine

4 Born This Way - Lady Gaga (2 stars)

Lady Gaga can sing, write songs and produce, her music actually has a meaning, she has some kind of dark aesthetic and this album is her at her most creative. But nah, laut.de doesn't like what's popular. - Martin_Canine

5 Fallen - Evanescence (2 stars)

Does it need any explaining why this album full of great lyrics and amazing vocals should be rated more than 2 stars? - Martin_Canine

6 Good Girl Gone Bad - Rihanna (1 star)

Rihanna's ratings on laut.de are very different, ranging from 1 to 4 stars, but this is widely considered her best album yet is the one with the worst review. This is pop pleasure at its best. - Martin_Canine

7 Bionic - Christina Aguilera (1 star)

It's not Aguilera's best album as her voice does not fit electronic music pretty well, but this is ridiculously low. But yeah, laut.de never holds back on the 1 star ratings. By the way the headline of the review would translate to: "Who would like to bang a robot? " Great. - Martin_Canine

8 J.G.U.D.Z.S. - Kay One (1 star)

Again, they absolutely praise his raps (and this is a personal album aiming at his personal problems with fellow rapper, former friend now enemy, Bushido). But yeah, the beats ain't that great so... let's give it the lowest rating. - Martin_Canine

9 Goodbye Lullaby - Avril Lavigne (1 star)

Avril Lavigne is one of the better pop rock singers. She has a cool attitude and a unique personality, and writes pretty good lyrics. "Goodbye Lullaby" may not be her best record, but ranking this among the worst is insane. - Martin_Canine

10 Exile in Guyville - Liz Phair (3 stars)

3 stars are not bad and laut.de is so harsh when it comes to rating that often 3 stars is positive all the way. But this review is written retrospectively and this album is widely considered a masterpiece and ranks among several "Best Albums of All Time" lists. This is better than 3 stars, this should be on their Milestones list. - Martin_Canine

The Contenders

11 Master of Chant Chapter VII - Gregorian
12 Masters of Chant Chapter II - Gregorian (1 star)

All Gregorian releases that were reviewed hhave received 1 star. They hate the premise in general. - Martin_Canine

13 Masters of Chant Chapter III - Gregorian (1 star)
14 Masters of Chant Chapter 8 - Gregorian (1 star)
