room 101: mental illnesses

This blog post is about mental illnesses. I'm not talking about the serious one that make people have lives that are not stable, but those who fake mental illnesses to make up for things that happened in their lives or an excuse. Write in the comments if you agree or disagree and explain why.

First, I'll talk about real mental illnesses. Schizophrenia is the worst mental illness. Everyone who has it cannot fake it or control it. Other mental illnesses that make people do things like murder or rape are also real and not able to be faked.

Now let's talk about the fake and over diagnosed mental illnesses. I have 2 friends who have autism. One has a life controlled by the illness and it is quite sad. The other one, however, gets angry a lot. Every time this happens, he blames it on the autism. He is just an angry person who says it is autism.

This next one is a very serious issue and we should not joke about this. It is depression. A depressed person is someone who is sad all the time unconditionally. But some just say it was triggered by an experience. This is just those with a bad life. Some even claim benefits for it.

Another illness that can be faked but is still real is OCD. People with OCD have to have everything in the correct place, I can imagine this to be very, very annoying. But yet again, some people are just used to having things like this, so they then think they have OCD, this just encourages them.

Finally, I have a friend who said that he has ADHD and dyslexia. OCD and autism are just easily faked and over diagnosed, but these are just false. Dyslexia is basically a way of telling someone they are very dumb and you can't say that because it may be wrong to say this, so they just call it dyslexia. And then we have ADHD, the excuse for messed up kids to do messed up things.

So I'm not saying that they are all false (except ADHD and dyslexia) just over diagnosed and excuses. So, tell me your opinion in the comments if you agree or disagree. Next time on room 101: my generation.

I have autism myself, but I don't blame every bad thing on it. We are all human. If I can control it, he can. Or anyone, basically.

And, some peope also use ADHD as an excuse, I can tell. - Turkeyasylum

I have High Functioning Autism, ADHD, and possibly severe anxiety issues. But do I get upset about it? Heavens no, I actually treat them as a positive thing! Also, I'm not faking it. This is really faking it: some kids in my school act like they are ret*rds, but they are actually quite normal. That's very brave of you handling a touchy issue very well without having all those stereotypes and assumptions. - MusicalPony
