Worst Metal Singers

The Top Ten

1 Andy Biersack Andy Biersack

Andy Biersack? More like Andy Ballsack!

Most of the singers on this list aren't metal singers - their bands aren't on Encyclopaedia Metallum, i.e. they aren't metal (but I agree they are bad):
Andy Biersack, Seth Putnam, Oli Sykes, Fred Durst, Marilyn Manson, Mitch Lucker, Eric Azure, Danny Worsnop, Jacoby Shaddix, Denis Stoff, Eddie Hermida.
Corey Taylor - not metal but not bad.
Daron Malakian - not metal and not a lead singer, so why discuss him.
(For details, check out the list: Top 10 Bands that Aren't Metal According to Encyclopaedia Metallum).
Dio, Phil Anselmo and Tom Araya are metal but they are very good and shouldn't be on this list.
Alexi Laiho and George Fisher are good growlers. - Metal_Treasure

2 Seth Putnam

I know he is dead, but he still deserves number 1. - 445956

3 Oli Sykes Oli Sykes Oliver Scott "Oli" Sykes is a British musician, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Bring Me the Horizon. He also founded the apparel company Drop Dead Clothing.

Playback Bitch...

4 Fred Durst Fred Durst William Frederick "Fred" Durst is an American musician and film director. Durst is best known as the vocalist of the nu metal band Limp Bizkit, formed in 1994, with whom he has released six studio albums.

One of the guys who gave metal singers a bad name. Moreover, his singing style isn't metal - he's a rapper. Same for the rap metal / nu metal he sings - gave metal a bad name. For me this band isn't even metal - they play rap songs with some metal arrangements from time to time. Their songs sound like metal covers of rap songs but they are still rap. A more correct name of this subgenre would be metal rap (and not rap metal because it's not metal). Conclusion: Fred Durst isn't a metal singer. - Metal_Treasure

The most white rapper of all time

5 Marilyn Manson Marilyn Manson Brian Hugh Warner, better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American musician, songwriter, actor, painter, multimedia artist, author, and former music journalist.

I never considered him metal and he never claimed that but regarding his singing ability - I'm not impressed. - Metal_Treasure

He puts on a good show, but the guy just can't sing in my opinion. - ryanrimmel

6 Eric Azure
7 Jacoby Shaddix

Garbage singer with possibly the most whiny voice I've ever heard. - SteelCity99

8 Denis Stoff
9 Danny Worsnop
10 Dani Filth Dani Filth

16 Ronnie James Dio Ronnie James Dio Ronnie James Dio (born Ronald James Padavona; July 10, 1942 – May 16, 2010) was an American heavy metal singer, songwriter and musician. He fronted and/or founded numerous groups including Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven & Hell. He is credited with popularizing the "metal horns" hand gesture ...read more.

Ronnie James Dio is a great singer. Please do not vote for him on this list as he really doesn't even deserve to be on this list whatsoever to begin with, he's one of the greatest singers ever in my opinion. - Element119

Definitely doesn't deserve to be at 9th place right now whatsoever. Please disregard his placement here and listen to him yourself and see what an amazingly talented singer he really is. - Element119

The guy who probably added him is known for his hatred to metal, he thinks Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison and Robert Plant are better singers than him. - somekindofaguy

Robert Plant is arguable (I don't think Robert is better than Dio) But Jim Morrison can't be compared to Dio and Dylan's can be called bad. - SoldierOfFortune

At least he's not as bad as Don Henley 😎 - SoldierOfFortune

His voice fits his songs better than others. On the Live Evil album dio's voice is just to much for Ozzy songs. And also his voice is unique, even though he may not be properly trained like others and his octave range is only around 2.5-3 - SoldierOfFortune

His voice is pretty weak to be called metal. I don't like his voice. But I like some of his songs. I mean the singing style. - zxm

Not good, compared to Ronnie. - Lucretia

His singing abilities and tone don't impresse me - just bad singing with tight throat so there's no air flow through his vocal folds, and as a result - no power and resonance. No command of vocal technique.
The most overrated metal singer and musician - he isn't the best metal singer ever and he didn't invent metal.
And no, I am not obsessed with death growls and I'm not comparing him with growlers. I compare him with singers with clean vocals - Dio, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Hansi Kursch, Michael Kiske, Ian Gillan, and many more. - Metal_Treasure

He WAS good back in the day. Compare his vocals on Rust in Peace to Super Collider or Dystopia. He's not the same singer he once was, but he can still shred better than anyone in the game - ryanrimmel

19 Corey Taylor Corey Taylor Corey Todd Taylor was born in December 8, 1973. He is an American musician, author, and actor best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the Nu-metal band Slipknot and hard rock/alternative metal band Stone Sour.

He's good though - wrests
