An Honest Review of Ride

For those who don't know, Ride is a brand new Nickelodeon drama series that premiered on January 30, 2017.
The series is about a girl named Kit who is new at this fancy horse riding school called Covington Academy. She has to overcome her fear of horses, and she bonds with this misunderstood horse named TK.
For those who don't know me, I'm not a fan of most of Nick/Disney's teen drama series. They're cliché, predictable, and extremely cheesy. But for some reason, a lot of little girls watch these series, when shows like these aren't for their age group.

When I first saw the trailer for this, I thought it was gonna suck because 1) It's a drama series, and none of Nick/Disney's recent drama series haven't been any good, and 2) It's made by Nickelodeon, who has a worse reputation than Disney Channel and Cartoon Network combined. Plus, Nickelodeon has been doing tons of crap lately, like making cringey memes and shoving the bad shows in our faces

But this show looked different. I like horses a lot, so I decided to give it a try. Another reason why I wanted to give it a try is because a bad habit I have is judging shows by the trailer. I decided to give it a try first to see if it was bad or good. And from what I've seen, it's way different from stuff like Make It Pop and The Lodge.

Pros:
Decent acting
Kit is a good role model for kids (sort of)
Some good morals
Racial diversity
Breaking several teen drama stereotypes
Amazing scenery
It has horses
Kit's friends: Anya, Will, Josh and Nav actually have personalities and inner struggles, and aren't just there to be Kit's friends
Elaine is kind of more of a perfectionist than a bully
No laugh track

Cons:
Some bad morals
The show still has some stereotypes (New girl at school, mean popular girl, etc.)
It uses the new episode per day format like all of the other Nickelodeon dramas

My rating: 6.5/10. I recommend it, but not too much. It's better than all the other live action shows that are currently running on the channel
