Magikarp is only bad because he learns tackle at level 15. 5 LEVELS before he evolves. He can't even learn flail in the early generations. He is a massive joke and is just annoying to have to wait for, because since he can't attack until level 15 he's stuck having to fight the Pokemon with only harden, which gets hardly any experience. It gets even harder to level up as you go on as well. You might as well just get a better water type (any other water type basically) because the wait for Gyarados isn't worth it.

HA HA HA HA HA HA magikarp so funny and useless.
"Oh no! It's magikarp! What incredibly powerful and utterly irresponsibly wild and violent move will he unleash on me with all his fury and firepower? "
"Oh. Splash. Right. Don't worry, in about 35 more levels of using splash and gaining about 2 xp every battle, including dying loads of times because it's pathetic, it'll turn into something HALF DECENT! "
So worth a master ball to catch.
L O L!

There is a Magikarp in Pokemon Emeralds 'Battle Dome' that destroyed me, actually. It had three successful focus bands leaving it with 1 HP and then flailed my Latios and Blaziken to death. It was funny and humiliating.

Aside from that, not all Pokemon are supposed to be good. You have the competitively terrible Pokemon that make the good ones look amazing.

What the freak guys Magikarp can't only know splash it gets tackle at level 15 since generation 1 at level 30 he gets flail as MAGIKARP only since Generation 2 he learns bounce at the move tour to kill bug fighting and GRASS TYPES in a Japanese event that expired he gets Hydro pump To Kill FIRE ground and rock types and in the tcg only he gets rage don't you guys know that magikarp evolves into GYARADOS GYARADOS is better than Regigigas and so is Blissey GET A MAGIKARP

What The crap is this Pokemon? It can only learn three MOVES, and they all suck. Hey Magikarp use splash until you reach level ten and can finally use tackle, also scare your enemy Pokemon away using your amazing NOOB POWERS! Nintendo commit mass genocide to this horrible Pokemon and make gyarados a baby Pokemon. DIE MAGIKARP!

I don't care about Magikarp evolving into Gyarados because I don't even understand how can you train a Pokemon that only flops around! The only reason why some people like Magikarp is that they like EVERYTHING that is in Generation I and the only reason why Magikarp was made is for the human characters to have some fish to eat! Everything on it lame!

Magikarp isn't horrible. I know, I know, this may sound cliche' or whatever. But this Pokemon teaches a good lesson of patience. It starts out really weak, but when you train it it turns into the beast known as Gyarados. It only needs to get to level 20 to evolve. That's not bad at all. Plus, GYARADOS HAS A MEGA!

Honestly, this reminds me of the ruby game where there was this one trainer that had a magikarp. Every time you would come to challenge him he would have a magikarp of a higher level. I don't think he ever evolved it into a gyarados and that made me feel sort of bad.

This Pokemon was meant to be a joke, only knowing splash< the most useless Pokemon move as a fact. But aside from that, Magikarp learns Tackle at level 15, but it's still not good because of it's poor attack stat, then at level 30 it learns Flail, even at 1 HP it doesn't do squat. And if that's not enough, at the beginning of Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, there's a Magikarp that fisherman has that takes way too long to kill.

The only thing that might equal Magikarp's crappiness is Feebas, but both turning into the monster of the ocean and the beauty of the sea, Feebas evolves into Milotic, and Magikarp evolving into Gyarados. And that's my opinion on Magikarp and a little of Feebas.

I hate this Pokemon. Not because of it's move pool, just because of its lazy design. Its in lack of a cool design and its design is just a fish. I always try to run away when I am fishing and this thing appears. I hate Magikarp...

Magikarp is over hated. He doesn't have any moves until he evolves, but when he does, oh boy, you get a monster, definitely worth the wait. However, the road is long and windy, so for now, Magikarp is just a fish.

It's not a big deal when you have experience share, and it will become a Gyarados if you are a patient trainer. Not too hard to raise one and it's still better than Unown or Luvdisc. - malamJONES

Hey guys! Magikarp really isn't so bad I mean compare it to one of those bug Pokemon that evolve to a Pokemon that only knows harden, magikarp is OP.

Look let me just say that magikarp sucks but honestly it does teach you patience and really that is all that matters because once it evolves it is on badass Pokemon.

I don't know a lot about Pokemon but my friend and I always tell our friends about magikarp, one of the 7 Pokemon I knew about before I got on this website because we are magikarp BELIEVERS!

Magikarp, the fish Pokemon. A Magikarp can leap a mountain using Splash. The move remains useless, though. Not only the move, but the Pokemon is too. If you catch a lv. 15 (or more) you are lucky. Hopefully it has learned Tackle. Flail? More like Fail. Bounce? How do fish bounce? They do flop and wiggle without water, but not really bounce.

Magikarp is really hard to catch. I mean almost every move makes it faint! But it really pays off at level 20. Plus it can learn a flying type move (Bounce).

He sucks his best move is flail (bad) and he is too hard to level up I had to use all of my rare candies the I collected all over the game (only 6) and then it took me days to get it to level 20 SUCKIEST POKEMON EVER

Seriously. The only reason why people like it is because it evolves into a good Pokemon. Though I would give them credit for Magikarp representing patience.

Magikarp is completely and UTTERLY useless, but remember: for every Magikarp that exists, that's one more Gyarados that exists.

Magikarp are great unown is far worse at least magikarp isn't stupid and only knows ONE move that every pokemon can learn! - Puppytart

"Magikarp use splash... Does nothing 20 levels later Garados use dragon rage on geodude... Does nothing geodude us rock throw... Garados fainted"

The fact that magikarp can defeat a charizard isn't impressive. Charizard should be on this list it is extremely overrated and stupid.

MAGIKARP LV 100 BEAT UP A LUGIA WITH FLAIL! THIS IS LEGIT! Okay okay lugia used ancient power and made magikarp on 1 health (it had the enduring item) but FLAIL TOOK DOWN LUGIA come on THIS SHOULD BE ON THE TOP 1 Pokemon!

Magikarp is useless and pathetic at first but when it evolves to a gyarados, it becomes very useful in pokemon battles! And it can of course, evolve to a Mega Gyarados that does even better at battles. You don't have to make it a big deal if you have the EXP share around your inventory - Unharmless
