Worst Pop Punk Bands

Theirs the greats such as blink-182 and my chemical romance but then theirs the failures!

The Top Ten

1 5 Seconds of Summer 5 Seconds of Summer 5 Seconds of Summer are an Australian pop-rock band from Sydney that formed in 2011. The group were originally YouTube celebrities, posting videos of themselves covering songs from various artists during 2011 and early 2012. They rose to international fame while touring with One Direction on the Take ...read more.

OK the band classifies itself as pop punk but they just don't know what's its about. Their lyrics are generic I mean it's a band made up of "attractive" young males, who sing about girls and whose lyrics have no greater meaning so why aren't they number one. Little kids like them and this style of music isn't even for little kids its for teenagers. The little kids think there oh so emo and alternative but people who are teenagers not understanding the difference between alternative and pop punk and 5sos. Those people who don't understand the difference should go listen to Fall out boy, Green Day, Paramore, Blink 182, my chemical romance and panic at the disco aka real pop punk/ alternate bands who unlike 5sos don't use auto tune and shouldn't be on this list. Don't compare them to those bands unless your pointing out the obvious difference between them and although they say they are influenced by bands like Green Day they are nothing like Green Day.

Yay. A boy band. So original. Their music is TOTALLY original. Ah, screw it. Five Seconds of Summer SUCKS. Don't even get me started on their fanbase. Their fanbase makes it harder to like them. They also waste the best singer in the band having him ONLY play an instrument and sing a couple lines every once in a while. Everyone says they're punk rock, but they aren't. I've even heard someone compare them to Green Day. Where their brain went, I have no idea. I could keep going on and on but I'm going to stop here.

Their songs aren't original at all. I just listened to their new song though, and their new sounds shows that they have matured. But still, they need to stop copying other people's work. And their fanbase is annoying, no one it entitled to their own opinion and if you happen to have a disagreement, they'll tell you to kill yourself. That's what I learned from being in the fandom myself, and what I see on a daily basis. I can't stand them.

This shouldn't be here, yes it's really bad but it's NOT punk

2 Paramore Paramore Paramore is an American rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Hayley Williams and guitarist Taylor York.

Why are Green Day, Blink-182, Sex Pistols, The Offspring, and The Ramones are in this list? They are true punk bands. Unlike them, Paramore is the worst pop punk bands of all time. Their music generic, their fans only care about the lead singer, this is band should not be called a band at all. There are bands way better than them. - gothictomboy66

Because besides the pistols and Ramones all those bands are CRAP - Brobusky

... What is Blink-182 doing on this list? They are pop punk. Read the description of the list. "there's the greats such as blink-182". This list needs to get fixed.

Paramore at first place really? They're badass, they come on strong which is why most people either love or hate them. But unlike most other pop punk bands they're not so generic and actually have creativity.

I have nothing but respect for this amazing band. But none ever pays attention to any of the other band people!

3 Good Charlotte Good Charlotte Good Charlotte is an American rock band from Waldorf, Maryland that formed in 1996. Since 1998, the band's constant members have been lead vocalist Joel Madden, lead guitarist and vocalist Benji Madden, bassist Paul Thomas, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Billy Martin and drummer Dean Butterworth, ...read more.

Not only one of the worst pop-punk bands, one of the worst bands period. This is the musical equivalent of belly button lint, you know it exists but you're not sure why.

I can't even believe they are compared to Blink-182. That is like comparing The Beatles and One Direction. This band should not be compared to a masterpiece band like Blink-182, they are obviously better than Good Charlotte. - AnimeDrawer

More pop than punk.

My god these guys are bad - christangrant

4 Simple Plan Simple Plan Simple Plan is a French-Canadian rock band from Montreal, Quebec. The band has released five studio albums.

I notice that a lot of the comments against this band are getting tons of dislikes. Honestly, they're just like Good Charlotte and other mediocre pop punk bands of the early 2000s. Still don't agree with me? Go on YouTube and watch Rocked's Regretting The Past on Simple Plan and you'll understand what I mean.

Simple Plan isn't anything special or unique, and a little too whiny. On a higher note Paramore shouldn't be in first place, Fall Out Boy deserves a lower rank, blink-182 shouldn't be on here and We Are The In Crowd is a little too pop not sure if they're pop punk

They can never grow up, even though they're in their late 30s. - djpenquin999

Let'a not forget, they were on Scooby Doo. So punk!

5 Fall Out Boy Fall Out Boy Fall Out Boy is an American pop band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley.

Evening out with your girlfriend, Take this to your grave and From under the cork tree was the band at it's best

Infinity on high and Folie a deux weren't as good but still kept Fall Out Boy's greatest strength: Their tongue in cheek lyrics that were witty with a dash of melancholy

Save rock and roll had plenty of artificial effects that paled in comparison, but it was still better than what was playing on the radio

but their latest album, American Beauty/American Psycho is absolutely artificial with lyrics that made no sense like "The stench, the stench of summer sex

And CK eternity, oh, hell, yes" from one of the singles

but most importantly, most of the music was made in the studio by machines, not the INSTRUMENTS that they apparently play. I've been a fan since 2003, and I'll admit that they we're atrocious live, but the music they played was still amazing. Now they're better live, but I'd rather listen to the horrible live playing of ...more

Hey, why is Fall Out Boy on this list? They're awesome and talented! There's more to them than just a couple songs you heard on the radio, like "Centuries" or "Uma Thurman". In fact, most of their fans don't even like those songs! For the true FOB, listen to songs like "Sugar, We're Going Down", "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race", "Save Rock and Roll", "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark", and a lot more. Also, I hate it when people call them posers! They're not even emo, morons. Leave them alone!

Why are they on here? They don't belong here at all! I love them so much and I hate the fact that people call them sellouts and unoriginal... Not. True. Leave them alone and don't say anything about my muffin babies!

6 All Time Low All Time Low ...read more.

Well, they can't be Paramore rip-offs if they formed first, just saying. Paramore formed in 2005, All Time Low formed in 2003. They sound nothing like Fall Out Boy, or any others. They're unique. They don't write the same song over and over and over. I Feel Like Dancin' and Time-Bomb. Same? Not at all. Very different. A Love Like War and Remembering Sunday. Same? No. Not at all. Every song is about partying, growing up, girls? SO what? They're young. That's what they think about. Make you feel low? Just because they're name is All Time LOW doesn't mean they make sad music. Most of it is very upbeat and happy. ATL actually has quite a large male following, too. Simple Plan sucks. They're very unique and brilliant. No sense of experimentation? I Feel Like Dancin'. Have fun proving that it's just the same as all their other songs. I think they're one of the greatest bands of all time. - Number

All Time Low makes amazing music and it means a lot to many people

All time low just keep writing the same song over and over again, they have no sense of experimentation. Just three chords and every song is about girls, partying, or growing up.

7 All American Rejects

More pop than anythinhg. Some songs are fairly catchy but can be seen to be very annoying. They are probably decent guys but how they are in any way punk I'll never know.

They improved with their new album kids in the street but are not punk in anyway.

They are decent. I only like a few songs by them but hey shouldn't be on this list - emilycondon7

8 Zebrahead

Are you kidding me? Zebrahead are quality, and are a million times more original than ALL of the bands on this list. They can play play anything from funk, to hip-hop, to straight up punk and hard rock. Their progression on each record is astounding, and their sound is completely original. No way do they deserve to be higher up on the list than Panic, or even on the list at all.

What Zebrahead? They are perfect!

Why would anyone even THINK to put Zebrahead anywhere on here? Seriously! Zebrahead is personally one of my favorite bands of all time. Plus, they aren't even a pop punk band. They are Rap-Rock and Punk Rock.

Zebrahead may not be the best, but some of their songs are pretty good. If you don't believe me, hear these songs:
With Legs Like That
Rated U For Ugly
Rescue Me
Wake Me Up - Wolf92xd

How put this band on here? Idiots...

Ok Ramones and sex pistols and not even pop punk they do not deserve to be on this list.

Little known Biblical fact: In order to pay for the sins of the world, God let Jesus choose between crucifixion and listening to Blink-182's entire discography. The rest is history.

Blink 182 is famous pop punk band but they have terrible songs! is the worst pop punk band ever! I hear it only to laugh!

10 Panic! at the Disco Panic! at the Disco Panic! at the Disco is an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004 and featuring the current lineup of vocalist Brendon Urie, accompanied on tour by bassist Dallon Weekes, guitarist Kenneth Harris, and drummer Dan Pawlovich.

Panic! at one point actually had good background music, but now all they care about is vocals so all of their new stuff is awful. I seriously cannot name any of the instruments in the background just by hearing one of their songs.

I don't like emo. I'm sorry, but I thought this was pop-punk.

They're amazing. They're pop punk. They change their sound with every album. If you want an example, listen to A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.

Panic! at the disco are amazing! their old stuff and new stuff sound great and most songs have a meaning behind them

WHAT they don't even deserve to be on this list they are so non pop punk!

12 New Found Glory

No, this should take Paramore's position

13 Pierce the Veil Pierce the Veil Pierce the Veil is an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2006, the band was founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after the disbandment of the group Before Today, which was formed out of the San Diego punk rock scene.

This is post hardcore not pop punk! They ain't Evan pop. Why are they in the list?

Why is Green Day and Blink-182 on the list? They're the main creators if the pop-punk genre.

That's why they are on the list. For creating this terrible genre

Haters gonna hate but Green Day is the best pop punk and punk rock band ever!

Green Day is the reason pop punk exists!

Y'know, I actually like Green Day, but Green Day on this website is really annoying. You can't go on one list without Green Day being number one. People say "Green Day is the best punk band evarrr! 1! 1! " But they're not even punk. Even if they were, they wouldn't be the best. Also, Green Day didn't invent pop-punk. I'd recommend doing some research. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I like Green Day, but not their fanbase.

What!? The pistols are pioneers of punk, they are not pop punk. They weren't afraid of anyone, they even influenced Joe Strummer

Whoever put this up here is truly an idiot. Not only were the Sex Pistols not part of the ironic perversion that is pop punk, they were also one of the groups, including the Ramones and the Stooges, that pioneered punk made it great for a little while. All I have to say to the person who put this here, shut up go listen to your Blink-182 records, maybe you'll eventually have so little brain power that you won't be able to annoy anyone with your obnoxious taste in music anymore.

While they are punk, unlike the most of this list. They're not good punk. Pretty much a boy band in a sense but supported by a different group of teen girls. Want real punk? Try bad brains or black flag. If your mom knows about them they're not all that punk. (My opinion though I found them to be pretty damn annoying)

There songs are just not good

17 My Chemical Romance My Chemical Romance My Chemical Romance was an American rock band from Jersey City, New Jersey, active from 2001 to 2013. For much of their career, the band consisted of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Bob Bryar.

I don't get why they are on this list. My Chemical Romance is one of the best bands of all times. Their songs and lyrics are amazing. Whoever says they're bad is completely wrong, they've let their marks in music history. Their memory will carry on, we'll carry on. Proud killjoy.

Yeah, totally, such meaningful and emotional lyrics in there songs! Those first 100 "Na's" in Na Na Na Na were so touching! - Bboymakinwitthefrekfreak

The people who put Ramones and Sex Pistols on here must be joking. These guys aren't pop-punk, they're the greatest bands in punk history. They made punk what it is.

First of all, My Chemical Romance was actually a great band and I'm proud to listen to them. Obviously this list is a total joke because The Offspring is known as one of the BEST PUNK ROCK bands in history and so are Sex Pistols.

My Chemical Romance is awesome, nothing to do in this list. - Wolf92xd

18 You Me at Six

Absolute crap band made by Essex posh boys who got where they are due to rich parents and no talent at all.

Bunch of public school boys making the worst form of 'pop rock' drivel

Terrible boy band who are not 'punk' in any way. Spoilt brats writing terrible music for other spoilt brats, mainly 12 year old girls.

One of the crappiest bands I've ever heard, such a shame that they are often catalogued as pop punk. Maybe CraPunk would fit them better. - Wolf92xd

Someone is a hater. This band deserves more respect and shouldn't be on this dang list.

HOW DID THEY GET ON HERE? THEY ARE DO AWESOME AND MY FAVORITE POP-PUNK BAND. People who say "In Too Deep" is there only good song, have obviously not listen to the hell song, handle this, pieces, over my head, still waiting, and I can go on and on.

WHY are they here

This guys have made Pop Punk masterpieces, and another factor for their music to be even better is the metal vibe it has in a lot of their songs like The Bitter End, Mr. Amsterdam, Noots, No Reason, etc. No other pop punk band does that. Sum 41 belongs right there with the biggest bands I'm the genre like Green Day, Blink-182 and The Offspri ng. s o much love for this guys. If you hate them, then GO CHUCK YOURSELF! - Wolf92xd

I love Sum 41 too. Then again, that metal vibe in the Bitter End = Metallica's Battery. - rishal21

20 Ramones Ramones The Ramones were an American punk rock band that formed in the New York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens, in 1974. They are often cited as the first band to define the punk rock sound.

To the person who said that they have lazy basic songs, that is what punk is! It's supposed to be stripped down, no frills, raw music. Saying that the Ramones aren't punk because their songs are to basic is like saying you don't like the ocean because there's to much water

The Ramones?! They invented punk and have nothing to do with pop punk! I'm older then most of these voters on this wall and I am completely offended.

If the Ramones are pop punk then I guess TheTopTens is a gaming site. - ryanrimmel

Quite good quality
