Top 10 Worst Rock/Metal SubgenresRogerWatersfan1999 This list shows the Rock Subgenres which I personally/ and other rock fans find the worst.
The Top Ten
I don't know why it was called metal because the typical nu "metal" songs are punk-based (they have punk riffs and not metal riffs), have rapping on them (rap has nothing to do with metal), often have no guitar solos (again a punk characteristic) and instead of guitar solos they offer breakdowns (another punk characteristic). Not to mention there are too many elements from other popular music genres - electronic, dance and hip hop elements (turntable isn't a metal instrument ya know). And last but not least, many vocal melodies are just pop or pop punk or pop rock (at least on some sections).
A combination of punk, hip hop and pop, played loud and aggressive, doesn't equal metal. - Metal_Treasure
It's kinda weird that I hate this genre so much, because I was born in a prime Nu-Metal year (1999). I find the genre nothing, but whiney, and the sound of Nu-Metal music drives me crazy. The only Nu-Metal band I like is System of a Down. - RogerWatersfan1999
Has a lot of the same problems as Nu-Metal, but a little better. - RogerWatersfan1999
Far worse than Nu-Metal.
I can describe my thoughts on this genre in one word, annoying. - RogerWatersfan1999
Currently I understand most of the lyrics but I never tried to understand each and every word. It comes naturally with experience. However, even at this point I don't focus on lyrics while listening to music - I always knew that I would miss the point if I do this. Some death metal vocalists aren't too hard to understand though. But if I wanna know details about the lyrics, I read the lyrics. Opera fans do the same. Moreover, opera lyrics are in Italian and they must be translated. - Metal_Treasure
Can anyone really hear what death metal bands are singing about, because to me it sounds like, rawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawrawraw! - RogerWatersfan1999
I'm already not a fan of Punk music in general, but Pop Punk, strips away all of what's good about Punk music, like the clever lyrics, and much more. Instead of good lyrics, we get stupid crap, about having a crush on your friend's mom, partying, guys being guys, etc. I really can't stand this genre, although I do enjoy some Green Day, even though I'm sometimes angry at them for creating this truly awful, subgenre. - RogerWatersfan1999
This genre tries to fuse Heavy Metal with 8-bit video game music. Do I really need to say it? That's a truly bad Idea! Sometimes some genres are just not meant to mix, Heavy Metal, and Video Game music are one example of that. - RogerWatersfan1999
Agreed, although "core" genres are basically punk genres and not metal genres. "Core" genres are developments of hardcore punk. - Metal_Treasure
Just like Nintendocore, Metalstep tries to fuse Metal with electronic music. Only instead of videogame music, this genre tries to fuse metal with dubstep, no thanks! Also another thing I want to say is that Korn, did Metalstep back around 2012, possibly making my hatred of Nu-Metal even stronger. - RogerWatersfan1999
Pornogrind is awful but it isn't a music genre - it's just grindcore / goregrind with specific lyrics. And before you ask - the subgenres with "core" and "grind" in the name are more punk than metal. - Metal_Treasure
I think this one explains it's self. - RogerWatersfan1999
I find this genre annoying, Just like what I said about Nintendocore, and Metalstep, some genres just don't mix. - RogerWatersfan1999
Somethings things are just meant to die, Grunge maybe one of them, because I can't name a good Post-Grunge band. Nickelback, Creed, and Breaking Benjamin are all bands I can't stand. - RogerWatersfan1999
