Worst Romance Anime

If you've ever sat through a bad romance anime, you know that feeling you get. A dark blackhole in your stomach and leaves you angry for years. Now I'm not talking about couples I'm talking about the actual animes. The 'romance' animes that fails so hard that you question everything the writer was going through. I will add in some other genres that border along anime like harem, hentai, ecchi etc. Like for example a romantic moment would be when Ayato saves Yui from drowning in a pool. The scene is supposed to be romantic but he's the reason she almost drowned in the first place. So it's not romantic. I'll put in some suggestions. the rest is up to you.
The Top Ten
1 Boku No Pico Boku no Pico is an anime series of three OVA episodes created by Katsuhiko Takayama. It was released to DVD on September 17, 2006.

This is a hentai but by the first episode, you'll wonder how this came to be at all. Even after the first episode I was ready to hurl up my lunch. Sometimes it tries to be 'romantic' like when the characters are concerned for each other but it comes off as disturbing. Even this disgusting anime tries to be romantic and it's horrible that it even tries. If there's one anime I recommend not watching, it's this.

What the hell is this? All you have to do is see a tiny bit of it, and you will never look at anime the same way again... I hate it.

Basically a creepy animator's gay pedophilia fetish.

This isn't a romance anime, it's a horror anime

2 Diabolik Lovers Diabolik Lovers is a Japanese visual novel franchise by Rejet. The first game was released on October 11, 2012 for the PlayStation Portable. Three more games have been released since them with the first two games having been ported for the PlayStation Vita with the subtitle "Limited V Edition". The franchise has brought forth two 12-episode television anime adaptations by Zexcs, the first of which aired from September 16, 2013 to December 9, 2013 and the second from September 23, 2015 to December 9, 2015. The first series was followed by a single OVA bundled with the Diabolik Lovers DARK FATE game on February 26th, 2015. A well received stage play also ran in August 2015.

The first time I saw this 'anime' (which, it is technically just a preview for a video game) I liked it and thought it was pretty cool.

A few years later, the sequel came out and I realized quickly how stupid it really is. There is no plot, poor character development and cliché/little to no personality in this show. The way they treat the protagonist is unnecessarily sexist even though she deserves to be treated with disrespect considering how stupid she is. There is no story at all, I have no idea why I liked the first season so much. The one good thing I can say about this series, however, is that the character designs are very nice and unique. The animation and coloring is very pretty and polished. I only with they put at much effort into the plot as they put into designing and animating.

This is about as romantic as Fifty Shades of Grey and I hate that 'book'. Characters are either worthless or are creepy perverts. From Cordelia to the boys she raised. Even after the anime was over, I was seriously flabbergasted by how this could be any good. The characters refer to Yui as a bitch constantly, drink her blood by force, destroy her cellphone and treat her with about as much decency as a broken bottle.

3 School Days An anime series was developed by TNK with joint production by Avex Entertainment, Lantis, Marvelous Entertainment, Pony Canyon and Jinnan Studio. The twelve television episodes of the anime aired in Japan between July 3, 2007 and September 27, 2007 on TV Kanagawa. On July 4, 2007 Chiba TV and TV Aichi also began to air the show with TV Saitama, TV Osaka and AT-X respectively picking it up a day after each other. The series has since been released in six limited and regular edition DVD volumes.

This gets turned into an anime? Out of all the choices you wanted to make this an anime? You just made a gigantic failure instead. With a character I wanted gone from episode 5, a female character that turned into a yandere suddenly at the end, another female character who went insane after Makoto dumped her and tons of other females that wanted him for no reason. There's not a likable character in this and this is about as romantic as two dead rats. This tries to be romantic like when Makoto takes Kotonoha out on dates but by the end of the episode he thought dating was too tiring. Oh boo hoo!

Well... There really isn't much to say. I am actually surprised I got through the entire series! This is probably the worst anime in the romance genre! Well... then there is Yosuga no Sora

4 Wolf Girl and Black Prince

What is with terrible anime male leads comparing women to dogs? I just mentioned it in Diabolik Lovers. This 'romance' is about a girl who wants to have friends. So she tries to befriend two of them but they're mostly concerned about their boyfriends. So in order to get them to notice her, she takes a quick picture of a hot male. Then it turns out that male goes to the same school as her. So if he's going to go through her facade, she has to become his dog. This premise already sounds awful and it goes all downhill from here. From him breaking her cellphone, calling her a dog, telling her fetch like an animal and just be a cold jerk the entire time. Then the female just goes with it. Instead of having some dignity and dumping the guy while apologizing to her 'friends' she just does what he says. Just because she wants a boyfriend. This is sad.

I loved this anime it shows that you should never give up no matter how hard the challenge.

This anime treats girls like stereotypes. They only care about boys and nothing else!

5 Eiken Eiken is a fanservice-themed manga and anime series created by Seiji Matsuyama. The story depicts the life of schoolboy Densuke Mifune after he is forced into the mysterious Eiken Club.

It's hard to watch an anime when you can't really watch it. All I see on screen is some of the most grotesque human features I've ever seen. The breasts of the women in this show are bigger than their heads! How can I focus on the lackluster romance when I feel uncomfortable watching this?

6 The Familiar of Zero The Familiar of Zero is a Japanese light novel series written by Noboru Yamaguchi and illustrated by Eiji Usatsuka. It was adapted into various forms of media, including anime, manga, and visual novels. The story revolves around a young magician named Louise and her human familiar, Saito, exploring themes of romance, adventure, and magic. The series has garnered a dedicated fan base and has been influential within the "isekai" genre, where characters are transported to another world.

I wanted to vote for many of these anime cause there all terrible BUT I'm going to pick on the familiar of zero, the characters and character development was garbage I'm not really a fan of ecchi animes my self but Louise was a terrible character and person to begin with poor saito deserved a lot better than this prick that is Louise she's a rich brat, abusive, jealous, and all around annoying. She constantly beats Saito like it's no tomorrow and we're supposed to route for this girl I think not!

This is apparently a 'romance comedy'. If by romance you mean a over controlling, aggressive tsundere keeps a boy as her familiar by force then yeah you're right. She kidnaps him from his home, takes away his meal tickets, punches him, kicks him and beats him with a riding crop. I don't call that cute, Saito is being held against his will by a violent girl. All the others treat their familiars with kindness but Louise doesn't. This anime is the furthest thing in the universe from a romantic comedy.

7 Yosuga no Sora

Incest. Annoying incest too. Haruka and Sora were just not interesting individuals to watch. Sora manages to seduce her brother but as soon he's caught by Nao and Kozue, he tries to end it. Then later realizes that it doesn't matter and runs away with his sister. This isn't a very watchable series for me and has some problems. Like how Nao is supposedly the childhood friend of Haruka but actually having raped him on one occasion. *spits out water*

8 Peach Girl Peach Girl (Japanese: ピーチガール Hepburn: Pīchi Gāru) is a Japanese shōjo manga series by Miwa Ueda. A high school drama centered on character Momo Adachi, her love life, friendships and rivalries, it was published in Japan by Kodansha in Bessatsu Friend from 1998 to 2003 and collected in 18 volumes. ...read more.

My God, this anime was completely irritating to watch. The main character, Momo, has been in love with this guy named Touji since middle school, but apparently, he disliked "tanned skin", so Momo could never be straight forward with her feelings. Then we have Kairi, a guy that promises to "help" Momo win Touji's heart, all while being manipulated by her evil, boyfriend-stealing "friend", Sae. She literally ruins everything and even breaks up with a celebrity so she could get her hands on Touji, and makes Momo's life a living hell.

9 Love Hina Love Hina is a Japanese manga series created by Ken Akamatsu that was adapted into an anime, among other formats. The story revolves around Keitaro Urashima, a young man who moves into an all-girls dormitory in his quest to get into Tokyo University. Filled with comedic misunderstandings and romantic entanglements, Love Hina explores themes of love and ambition. The series received multiple awards and has been cited as one of the works that popularized the "harem" genre in the West.

If you consider abusive girls beating and harassing a guy for no reason then sure have at it.

10 Vampire Knight Vampire Knight is a Japanese shōjo manga series written by Matsuri Hino. The series premiered in the January 2005 issue of LaLa magazine and officially ended in May of 2013. Chapters were collected and published in collected volumes by Hakusensha, concluding with nineteen volumes released in Japan.

Had so much going for it and then it started getting boring. The female lead was a Mary Sue who couldn't get out of a situation without Kaname or Zero trying to help. I can't really understand why they like Yuki. She's a pretty girl and that's about it. She doesn't have much going for her in the way of a personality. Yet in the end she has a child with both of them...I'm serious.

The Contenders
11 Rail Wars

Bland and dull harem series with a cookie cutter tool of a character. Naoto is a look alike of Inaho and the girls are stereotyped as well. Aoi develops feelings for him despite saying she was going to kill him. She has a hatred for men and almost shot him if the bullet didn't miss. How can they still be romance bloom between them when she literally hates men and tries to kill the main lead?

12 Itazura na Kiss
13 Kiss x Sis

For all who don't know, it's about two twin sisters attempting incest on their brother. And the parents are super retarded or something, they don't give a damn what's happening the entire time!

Not gonna lie, I forgot about this anime entirely. Yup, it's bad and gross. Don't watch it.

Horrible, horrible anime.

14 Oreimo

I like this anime and all but the incest thing bothers me

A guy and his little sister fell in love. Pfft.

15 The Irregular at Magic High School Originally a light novel series by Tsutomu Satō, this anime adaptation aired in 2014. It delves into a world where magic is recognized as a technology and follows siblings attending a magical high school. The series is noted for its exploration of social hierarchies and technical aspects of magic.

I couldn't stand the romance/harem because of two characters. Tatsuya Shiba and Miyuki were a nuisance to sit through. More than the love hate relationship with Usagi and Mamoru at the beginning. These two are siblings but what really got to me was when they hogged the spot light. Whether they took it from the story, other characters and everything else.

16 Myself; Yourself
17 To Love-Ru To Love Ru is an anime series based on the manga of the same title written by Saki Hasemi and illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki.
18 Arakawa Under the Bridge
19 Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun
20 Aki Sora

If an incest anime can make an African American YouTube reviewer go nuts to the point of breaking his own laptop (and even his own computer chair), I'm pretty sure the best thing to do is to avoid this anime like the plague. I may be a guy that's easy to impress, but I still have my own standards as to what's good or bad. Aki Sora just so happens to be the latter for me.

21 Canvas 2: Niji Iro No Sketch
22 Nisekoi Debuting in 2014, this anime series is based on a manga by Naoshi Komi. The plot centers around two high school students who pretend to be in a romantic relationship to maintain peace between their feuding families. Noted for its romantic comedy elements, the show enjoys a large fan base.

This anime is full of cliche tropes, overreacting tsunderes, and boring as hell.

23 School Rumble
24 Kanokon Kanokon is a Japanese light novel series written by Katsumi Nishino and illustrated by Koin. The series was adapted into an anime and a manga, telling the story of a shy high-school boy who gets involved with a flirtatious fox spirit. With themes of romance, fantasy, and supernatural elements, Kanokon explores the complexities of relationships in a world where humans and spirits coexist. The series gained attention for its ecchi content and its blend of comedy and romance.
