Top Ten Worst Singer/Songwriters

The Top Ten
1 Bret Michaels Bret Michael Sychak, professionally known as Bret Michaels, is an American singer-songwriter, musician, actor, director, screenwriter, producer, and reality television personality.

A song is like a poem that is often read musically. Songwriting is not really easy as it seems. Poor writing skills gives away a poor quality song. If there are no good songwriters then what's the point?

Bret, your songs are worse than barbie's theme song.

Yes, Bret your songs are not that good. Stop crying about it.

Terrible voice and lyrics...

2 Bono Paul David Hewson, known by his stage name Bono, is an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, venture capitalist, businessman, and philanthropist. His original nickname was Bono Vox which means "big voice".

His strained nasal sound and improvising style are an embarrasment to listen to.

Yeah I agree, the only U2 song I like is Mysterious Ways because of the guitar rift

Whats the difference between god and bono
God doesn't think he is Bono!

3 Justin Bieber Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He currently resides in Ontario, Canada and is Christian. He is the son of author Pattie Mallette. ...read more.

How could Bob Dylan be worse than this FREAK and Demon Justin Bieber! What kind of sorcery is this crappy thing in this list! This DEMON should be number 1 ONE at all times in WORST SINGER - SONGWRITERS. His SONGS can KILL a person and Especially above all things his VOICE is really bad, irritating, like in hell that SUCKS! Worse than a mosquito's sound.

He should be #1! Aside from being a complete douchebag, he music sucks! And "Baby" is the worst of them all! Seriously, all he says is "Baby, baby, baby, ooh! " over and over. It's not even a song. Justin Bieber is NOT a musician, he's a dumb wannnabe who thinks he's a musician; Beliebers are just a bunch of morons who wouldn't know REAL music if it hit them in the face! Justin Bieber is a disgrace to the music industry!

The fact that bob Dylan, Freddie mercury and Bruce Springsteen are on this list is a joke. I am not a massive fan of Bruce but I can appreciate his lyrics. Freddie was great, he was not full of himself like many others

This message is only to reply the man say Freddie mercury will not be in this list the only few be Nicki Minnaj Taylor swift Justinn Beiber lady gaga and one direction hunn the world best singers are Taylor swift justin Bieber one direction and Lady gaga and the world worst singer is Freddi mercury

4 Rob Thomas Robert Kelly "Rob" Thomas is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the primary songwriter and lead singer of the band Matchbox Twenty.
5 Michael Bolton Michael Bolotin, known professionally as Michael Bolton, is an American singer and songwriter. Bolton originally performed in the hard rock and heavy metal genres from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, both on his early solo albums and those he recorded as the frontman of the band Blackjack.

He only does cover songs that are just okay. Once he was singing The Star Spangled Banner and he read the lyrics of his HAND. You know that someone isn't a good singer when that happens.

6 Axel Rose

Haha. First learn to spell his name, then insult him. Rose was a good songwriter, November Rain, Patience and Estranged were beautifully written songs.

Sure, Bob Dylan isn't the best singer but he is one hell of a songwriter. Axel, however, is bad at both.

If I were to make a list about the worst lists on this site, this would take the top 9 spots.

You know you are not great when you haven't released anything in over 15 years.

7 Bob Dylan Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter, author, and artist who has been an influential figure in popular music and culture for more than five decades.

These lists are unbelievably stupid. To have Bob Dylan in the Top 5 is such a godawful atrocity that it makes me want to kill every idiot that voted on this list. Do you people even listen to Bob Dylan? Are you all completely brainless, dickless and hopelessly stupid? I hope everyone involved in the making of this website is massacred on Desolation Row.

Why is he even on this list? Anywhere?

Bob Dylan is amazing.

8 Bruce Springsteen Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen (born September 23, 1949) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and humanitarian. He is known for his work with the E Street Band. Nicknamed "The Boss", Springsteen is widely known for his brand of poetic lyrics, Americana, working class and sometimes political sentiments centered on his native New Jersey, his distinctive voice, and his lengthy and energetic stage performances—with concerts from the 1970s to the present decade running at up to four hours in length.

For God's sake, get Freddie Mercury and Bob Dylan out of the top ten!

Worst musician on the planet. Horrible voice!

He can't sing. At all.

9 Rebecca Black Rebecca Black is a YouTube personality and singer who's infamous for her 2011 single "Friday," which was the most disliked video on YouTube until "Baby" by Justin Bieber became the most disliked video in 2012. She has also released other songs, including "My Moment" and "Saturday".

10 Taylor Swift Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift is best known for writing personal songs and has won 13 Grammy Awards... read more

Taylor is gorgeous, but after seeing all those breakup songs, I came to the conclusion she must have a terrible personality. Especially when, according to all her songs, it's always her exes' fault. All her exes should get together and make a song called "Maybe Your a Problem". by the way, whoever added Jon Bon Jovi in this list is an idiot and gives humans a bad name.

She is just awful. All of her songs have one meaning: YOU'RE A DICK, IT DEFINITELY ISN'T MY FAULT THAT MY RELATIONSHIPS NEVER WORK, I'VE HAD SO MANY BOYFRIENDS IT CAN'T BE MY FAULT! She is talentless, overrated, rinse and repeat, pop trash.

The Contenders

Who do you think you are? Miley Cyrus is my ROLE MODEL! Get a life whoever put her on this list!

Who's sold well over 300 million albums, currently on a 3 year world tour, more than 50 years in the music business & aged 72 - Sir Elton John, that's who - and he's still so much better than many of the artists around these days. If he hadn't collaborated with Bernie Taupin, no doubt he would've collaborated with another lyricist.

Agree with poster below, take away the lyrics & what have you got, sorry can't understand his elevation to some kind of legend. A guy like Pete ham of badfinger wrote songs from the heart & for me did more in his short lifetime than Elton John has done in 40 years.

Worst list ever! Elton John was one of the best musicians. Also bob Dylan and Bruce springsteen what the heck? Elton John has not a single bad song.

Well screw this list, Elton John is in my top 3 for best musicians ever with the other two being Imagine Dragons and AC/DC!

Jon was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on March 2, 1962.

Lyrics that you'd swear an irritating, overly melodramatic 6th grade girl who eats paste wrote. Let's see how many words, "Danger Kitty" can rhyme with "loaded gun". His lyrics are copy and pasted from a cliche Thesaurus! Apparently slobbering all over Hillary Clinton's sensible shoes and every other liberal politician still won't make you an "artist". Who knew?

Are you kidding jovi and abba and reo speedwagon and Michael jackson and the bee here all should be at no one you know why and the Beatles and I could name names all day try and get any of there songs out of your head you can't it's impossible it's like my songwriting we are to catchy my name is derham Paul I am a singer songwriter and public performer and entertainer

He's far from the worst but his whole band is so overrated on these websites it's not even funny.

Jon Bon Jovi is an amazing songwriter and singer.

17 Freddie Mercury Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara, 5th September 1946 - 24th November 1991) was a Zanzibari-born British singer of Indian descent, songwriter and record producer, known as the lead vocalist and songwriter of the British rock band Queen. He died on November 24, 1991 from bronchopneumonia as a result from HIV/AIDS

Although a lot of his songs were absolutely amazing. Some of his song such as bohemian rhapsody are, when assessed in reality, are songs with poorly held focuses and less than tolerable lyric structure. Please do the world a favour and get off the hype train people.

18 Prince Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 - April 21st, 2016) was an American musician, best known for being one of the most popular and influential artists from the 80s, with songs such as "Purple Rain", "Little Red Corvette", "1999", and "When Doves Cry" .

Wasn't he suppose to have written like thousands of songs and what I heard I don't care for. What do the rest sound like? I am scared.

19 Joni Mitchell Roberta Joan Mitchell, professionally known as Joni Mitchell, is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Drawing from folk, pop, rock, and jazz, Mitchell's songs often reflect social and environmental ideals as well as her feelings about romance, confusion, disillusionment, and joy.

Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Plant, Mayer, Taylor, Duritz, Diamond, Judy Collins, Carole King, Feliciano, Vanessa Carlton, and countless others would disagree with you.

Her songs are amazing but a lot of them sound the same but maybe it's just the way she sings.

Super overrated and not that big on that high pitched voice either.

She is one of the BEST! Laura Nyro is a little better though but dead.

20 Carly Simons
21 Nicki Minaj Onika Tanya Maraj, known professionally as Nicki Minaj (born December 8, 1982) is a Trinidadian/American rapper / pop music artist. Minaj is most known for her songs such as "Anaconda", "Super Bass", "Starships" and her feature on "Bang Bang". Despite her controversial songs, Brent Staples from "The New York Times" claimed her to be 'the most influential female rapper of all time', presumably distinctive for her fast flow and her use of alter egos with Cockney accent. She has endorsed Adidas, MAC Cosmetics and Pepsi. Minaj has received ten Grammy-nominations throughout her career, and has won multiple awards including the Billboard's Women in Music 2011 Rising Star award.

This ugly walking plastic barbie doll can't make a song with lyrics that's actually make sense for a rat's ass. Nobody give's a crap about you being a stupid hoe ( based on her song " stupid hoe") even if you are one. And this song is suppose to be a diss to Lil Kim. Like any other Nicki Minaj wanna be, she goes on the stage, show's off half her plastic a$$ waving it back and forth singing " you a stupid hoe " over and over again. And when she get's off the stage she has her fan's saying " that was the best song and performance ever". If I was in the crowed I'd throw a water bottle at her and be like : THAT WAS THE WORST PERFORMANCE EVER, PLEASE EXIST ON THE RIGHT AND NEVER COME BACK. If we have wack rapper's like this than the hip hop industry could be in big trouble.

Ahahaaha I'm laughing my ass off. Nicki Minaj, in #21, and you have Bob Dylan in #4 and FREDDIE MERCURY in #10 and Elton John in #11 and Bon Jovi in #12... Okay... Calm down... Bob Dylan... is an exceptional songwriter. FREDDIE MERCURY IS A LEGENDARY SINGER/SONGWRITER. Dude, we're talking about Freddie Mercury here, who singlehandedly wrote one of the greatest songs ever, Bohemian Rhapsody, and one of the greatest anthems We Are The Champions, along with many many other great songs. His song writing skills are original, and produces music like no other. He is in the #10 spot in the Greatest Singer/Songwriter list (which I think he deserves higher), HOW IN THE WORLD CAN HE BE IN #10 HERE?!

Nicki Minaj, lower in the list... This is crazy. She raps, right, but she raps nonsense. She brings shame to rap music. Seriously, I used to like rap, until the existence of people like Nicki Minaj and Soulja Boy.

STILL, FREDDIE MERCURY?!

Don't get me wrong I would definitely sleep with her. But she'd have to be gagged the entire time, because if she opened her mouth once at any point during sex, I'd have to strangle her in self preservation. Her songs are >that< bad.

She cannot rap and her lyrics are trash.

22 Ann Wilson Ann Dustin Wilson (born June 19, 1950) is an American musician, best known as the lead singer and songwriter of the hard rock band Heart. Ann is in the Rock Hall of Fame with Heart, and is listed as one of the best metal singers of all time by Hit Parader. She is widely viewed as one of, if not the greatest female hard rock singer of all time.

When I'm wrong, I'll admit it. Heart did not write either of their songs that hit number one on Billboard magazine. But since they are not songwriters, that would disqualify them from this list anyway.

Your first point is actually more of a compliment considering what "pop" music sounds like these days and your second point is just a flat out lie.

According to Billboard magazine, your first point is actually false. Both Alone and These Dreams (sung by Nancy) are number one hits.

No song she has ever written has hit #1 on the Pop Charts and she not that good of a singer either.

23 David Bowie David Robert Jones, known professionally as David Bowie (January 8, 1947 - January 10, 2016) was an English singer born in London, the son of a fundraiser and a waitress. He is credited for his experimental and creative musical discography which has won praise and accolades for many critics and fans. The man who the world knew as David Bowie was an actor, a painter, a philosopher, and many other things. But first and foremost, and what he was known for most, he was a rock star, covering every genre from psychedelic folk to industrial. His influence on fashion, music, and pop culture in general remains as his legacy--along, of course, with his unforgettable music.
24 Katy Perry Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, professionally known by her stage name Katy Perry, was born on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California. She is a singer, songwriter, actress and an ambassador on one of the most popular companies of now, UNICEF.

You need to have music taste about this Freddie, Elvis, Bruce, MJ, Queen, Prince, Katy Perry, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Pink and other singer unlike Miley (a bit) Kesha (a very bit) Bieber, Gaga and Nicki can you hear their song

Saying that she wouldn't make it on American Idol sounds more like a compliment to me.

Just terrible, even in this stage of fame I don't think she would make it on a mercian idol, or even the voice, heck! Not even all the T.V. shows!

Katy Perry doesn't write MOST of her songs. So why is she here?

25 John Lennon John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (9 October 1940 - 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music.
