Worst Spongebob Squarepants Episodes

The Top Ten
1 A Pal for Gary

I just loathe this episode. Spongebob Ignorantpants ignores the lady's warning about Puffy Fluffy. The instant he ignores, you just want to make Spongebob absorb corrosives. He was blaming Gary for everything harmful thing Puffy Fluffy did. He scolded Gary for protecting himself?!? He also doesn't care about Gary when Puffy Fluffy was about to eat him saying " Gary! Put Puffy Fluffy down right now! " instead of "Puffy Fluffy! Put Gary down right now! ". Gosh, did I want to smash the T.V. because of that yellow, porous jerk.

Well, One Coarse Meal, I don't believe that it's too bad to compare with THIS (but it's still at the 10 ten list for me). Oh, yes... THIS episode is too bad, that even I didn't remember very well the episode, when I saw many people complaining about it. And I will say ONE thing... Why the hell did you believe that was funny the same time that doesn't make any SENSE? Really, how can SpongeBob feel sad about letting Gary in the home, the SAME TIME you ignore everything that Gary that Puppy Fluffy is a bad guy. I tried to laugh, because this recipe of laugh (in that show with Puppy and Gary) always manages to entertain people and make them laugh, but I couldn't laugh, as SpongeBob seemed earlier to feel very, very, VERY bad about what I said earlier (it doesn't make sense). Puppy Fluffy transforms into a monster that tries to kill Gary. The house gets on fire and SpongeBob comes to see what happened. Which was its fault about the fire on the house! "Gary! Put Puffy Fluffy down right now! ". I'M DONE.

2 One Coarse Meal

Even Plankton at his worst was nowhere near as bad as Mr. Krabs here. This is even worse than "Ren Seeks Help" in my opinion, which is saying a lot. At least Ren in "Ren Seeks Help" was PORTRAYED as a villain.

Ah... SpongeBob SquarePants... when you think of a great family friendly children's show, this is probably one of the things that comes to mind, right? Well, if you've never seen this episode, please watch. It will change your mind COMPLETELY. No joke. What makes this episode so bad? What makes it worse than the episode A Pal For Gary, an episode FILLED with abuse of Gary? Let's get into it. Plankton is trying to (once again) steal the Krabby Patty formula. Pearl shows up, (just to ask for money) and Plankton is terrified because he has heard that whales eat plankton. Mr. Krabs uses this fear to create a master plan to stop Plankton once and for all. Mr. Krabs creates a costume that looks exactly like Pearl, and begins to scare Plankton, even when he's not doing anything that endangers the Krusty Krab. Great message for children, right? Don't worry, it gets worse. Plankton is starting to go insane. Literally insane. He doesn't cut his hair, his toenails, he wears tissue boxes for shoes, and Karen (his wife, in case you didn't know) does nothing to help, because she doesn't believe him when he tells her that there is a whale after him. Plankton decides to end it all. You read correctly. "Well, they probably don't go too far into that detail, right? " Wrong. Plankton goes right in the middle of the road, and lies down on his back. "Well, children probably don't know what's happening, right? " Eh... normally, yes. But then when SpongeBob sees Plankton, he goes outside and talks to Plankton, to which Plankton says this: "Can't you see I'm trying to get run over?! " and "In fact why don't you just step on me? ". So now children know that Plankton wants to die. "Well, Mr. Krabs and Plankton work together sometimes, so if Krabs found out, he would help him, right? " Oh I wish. Because that would make sense. But instead, the writers go to a new low. SpongeBob goes into Krabs' office, and tells him that Plankton is lying in the road. What does Krabs do? Does he rush out... more

3 Stuck in the Wringer

This episode is monstrously evil and the absolute worst cartoon episode I have seen in my entire life. I could rant for pages on why I hate this episode, so let me just say that it is worse the Ren Seeks Help, One Course Meal, Rainbow Falls, bad Family Guy, and even the last 8 (especially the last one) episodes of Death Note. This is toxic for the mind and portrays true cruelty, ignorance, suffering, depression, victim blaming, and so much more in a frighteningly realistic way so SpongeBob can be miserable for laughs. Don't even get me started on the ending. I was 8 years old when I first watched this episode and stayed angry and depressed from the episode for 2 1/2 DAYS! I even like modern SpongeBob humor and creepy factor, but this was cruelty and evil.

My oleder brother said the people were right to accuse SpongeBob and saying he did something evil. I beg to completely oppose. What did he do wrong to Patrick? Nothing. He can't even work, eat, or do fun activities for Patrick put forever glue in the wringer SpongeBob was stuck in. I know getting angry is a bad thing. But wrongly accusing a person for something he doesn't deserve is even worse. The people didn't even know what SpongeBob went through. And people say Patrick is the victim. He's actually the culprit. And yet to some, stupidity is their excuse for Patrick. Stupidity is not an excuse to cause someone getting tortured!

4 The Splinter

This episode is more horrible than horrible. So, SpongeBob gets a splinter stuck in his thumb, and Patrick tries to get it out. This already doesn't sound like a great plot, but add grotesque and repulsive imagery and you have the worst episode in SpongeBob history. Why is it worse than One Coarse Meal, where Mr. Krabs drives Plankton to suicide? Because at least I can sit through it. Sure, A Pal For Gary has SpongeBob being a dumb, ignorant character who lets the new pet abuse Gary, but at least I can sit through it. I can't even watch this without looking away from the T.V. every five seconds. Patrick is super dumb in this episode, but it's not like he's being mean to SpongeBob. But if you can't even look at the episode, it deserves to be the absolute worst one.

At least with other gross-out episodes of the show, such as Ink Lemonade, it was only just one episode and didn't really start a second dark age for the show, despite all the disturbing imagery that made you feel they got the post-movie writers back. This, however, is just straight-up gross-out, without the humor, for a few minutes. The beginning itself is alright, but when SpongeBob gets the splinter, it all goes downhill. First off, the splinter is really deep inside his thumb, and the fact that it swells up throughout with pus and veins for additional graphic detail just makes you want to get a bowl and throw up repeatedly. Patrick is also a jerk in this one, as he impersonates a doctor, despite Sandy's warning in Suds that impersonating a doctor is a crime. And when the splinter goes away, you want to censor that scene as soon as possible, it's that disgusting.

5 Demolition Doofus

First of all, Spongebob Scars her for life, then says this: "I guess for now on we're gonna have to call yo Mrs. Pop! " (Laughs). Then, Mrs. Puff thinks it's right to kill someone to make themselves happy and tries to kill Spongebob. Then, she enters Spongebob in a demolition derby, and lies to him saying it's extra credit! Then during the demolition derby, she says these two lines that I just hate. "I can't watch, wait, I can! ' and " Why are you sill ALIVE! " Then, after the others can't kill Spongebob, she thinks it's right to murder him! Then the ending makes no sense whatsoever! After they crash into her school, she puffs up again, how! Nothing patched up the hole she had! She just blew up. I think everybody knows whats wrong with this episode.

An some people say Luna and Sam's relationship doesn't belong in a kids show, you know what doesn't belong in a kids show a teacher trying to have her student murdered for crippling her for life seriously how in the world was the episode made for children SpongeBob recklessness gets Mrs. Puff in an accident that cripples her for life not only that but continues to add insult to injury by making fun of her condition this drives Mrs. Puff to want to have SpongeBob killed by entering him in a demolition derby when that fails she shouts loudly enough that anyone can hear "WHY ARE YOU STILL ALIVE! " and then tries to kill him herself, bottom line I hate this episode.

I just loathe this episode. SpongeBob acts like an insensitive jerk towards Mrs. puff after deflating her in a car accident. Then she snaps and tries to get SpongeBob killed in a demolition derby. Of course SpongeBob survives. So she drives a big truck into the stadium and tries to flat out run the guy over. I don't know who to root for. SpongeBob was being mean to mrs. puff. And mrs. puff tries to kill him. Also, there is no justification, so this episode just PISSES ME OFF! How is Atlantis squarepantis worse than this jumbled up mess of a plot?! How?

This episode is one of the few times I think Ms.Puff DESERVES to go to jail. If this aired in the 3rd season, she probably would have just expelled SpongeBob from her school and he would try to convince her to get back in. Sadly, it's not the 3rd season anymore. Instead she wants SpongeBob DEAD! Even to the point of flat out trying to brutally crush him to death under a monster truck. It just so seems like it's completely out of character. It's like you propose to your incredibly kind girlfriend of 10 years and she stabs you in the chest and walks away.

6 Pet Sitter Pat

This episode is Patrick at his worst. He keeps on torturing Gary while SpongeBob is away. The episode also makes SpongeBob worry about Gary unlike in A Pal For Gary, but the episode uses this as an excuse to torture Gary. The worst part is when Patrick tries to give Gary a bath. He uses a flamethrower and thinks "It looks like fun" and also thinks about using salt to dry him. Salt kills snails, is he crazy! Patrick is so stupid and terrible that he should die because he is the worst character on the show. Yes, even worse than Mr. Krabs. This episode is like a sequel to A Pal For Gary or a terrible rip off that needs to be killed now!

From 'The Card': "SpongeBob, you can't expect my normal brand of stupidity every time! I like to mix it up. Keep ya on your toes! "

I would have declared 'The Card' the worst only because of that (and the following events), but at least in that episode the only thing he was destroying was SpongeBob's trust for Patrick and the most valuable Mermaid Man Trading Card. Not a living creature!

After one of Patrick's lines in'"The Card', it is revealed all the undeserved, cruel torture Patrick gives Gary is intentional. He chases Gary down with a flamethrower, eats all his food (and SpongeBob's), looks for salt to "dry" Gary, and many more horrible actions.

7 Yours Mine and Mine

Patrick is just really rude in this episode, from stealing SpongeBob's money, calling it sharing, and eating Patty Pal because SpongeBob wants a turn. Why isn't this higher? Yes, A Pal for Gary was abysmal and SpongeBob was a completely naive to what was going on, but other than that and a few other episodes (One Coarse Meal, Demolition Doofus), half of these above Yours, Mine and Mine had to do with Patrick being a complete IDIOT. He tried using salt on Gary in Pet Sitter Pat, and forever glued SpongeBob in the wringer. Patrick used to be a loveable character, and in these episodes from seasons 5-8, he is just amazingly stupid (not in a good way), rude, and just not funny whatsoever.

This was the episode I hated the most as a little kid. I still hate this episode the most. Patrick is such a bad influence. I hate that towards the end they paint Spongebob as the bad guy. I honestly don't blame Spongebob for acting the way he did towards the end. What was he supposed too do? No parents to talk to, the cops won't care, there isn't anyone to talk this out with. You know that kid who never shares anything with anyone, and there only friends are young kids. That's Patrick! Even when I was like 6 or 7 I despised this episode. The only good thing in this episode is the washing your hair joke! It made me hate Patrick's character.

8 SpongeBob, You're Fired!

You guys can say what you want about A Pal for Gary and One Coarse Meal. Those episodes at least told a story. What story does this tell? SpongeBob gets fired, 15 minutes of crappy filler, he is hired again because of mopey dopey sad talk. This was a terrible episode just for the sheer fact that it will bore you so much, you'll need to be on life support just to NOT die of boredom. And speaking of life support, SpongeBob's life support is dead. Not to mention this episode not only screws the continuity of the old awesome episodes, but even the newer bad ones. Why the hell would SpongeBob get fired over a nickel!? It's already been shown in Stanley SquarePants that SpongeBob is fully capable of keeping the Krusty Krab alive on his own. Squidward at least does nothing of value for Mr. Krabs. He doesn't even have seniority anymore. It makes no sense and feels purely like a contrivance just to serve a half-crapped plot. Sure A Pal for Gary was just evil and One Coarse Meal REALLY screwed up making fun of suicide, but THIS. This show has nothing of interest at ALL.

9 Atlantis Squarepantis

Where do I even begin. The advertisements deified it, acting like it would be the next SpongeBob SquarePants movie. Instead what we got was sheer garbage. The songs were so torturously awful that I would rather listen to "baby" than most of them. The plot had too many holes to count. 75% of the episode was pointless filler, horrible singing and boring subplots. The humor makes starring at a blank wall look entertaining. Plankton was shoved into the episode out of absolutely nowhere and does nothing to effect the main plot line. Patchy the pirate gets his own pointless subplot, and his own atrocious song. David Bowie makes an appearance as a nightmarish mutant blue burry with probably the most uncreative name comprehensible (lore royal highness). And, of course, the only reason they go to the legendary city of atlantis, which people have been searching for for millennia, is to see the world's oldest bubble, carried across the void of space on foot by one eyed elephants. This is the room of SpongeBob episodes.

10 Choir Boys

By my opinion this is the 2nd worst Squidward torture porn ever (the 1st is Squidward in Clarinetland). All Squidward wanted to do was sing at a chorus, and he didn't deserve any of his torment. He is trying to get to the chorus and SpongeBob keep doing things to "Get his attention" like digging a hole in the road. This causes him to land in Jellyfish fields and get stung by jellyfish repeatedly. He ties SpongeBob up with sea kelp. At the end right when Sqidward was going to sing at the chorus SpongeBob comes in singing, and comes out on top. All Squidward wanted to do was SING AT A CHORUS!

By my opinion this is the 2nd worst Squidward torture porn ever! (the 1st is Squidward in Clarinetland). He didn't deserve any of his torment he just wanted to sing at a chorus and SpongeBob keep making it so he can't get to the chorus place by doing things like digging holes in the road to "get his attention". Squidward also gets stung by jellyfish. At the end right when Squidward was going to come on top SpongeBob comes in starts singing and comes out on top. Remember all Squidward wanted to do was SING AT A CHORUS!

11 Little Yellow Book

Okay, clearly Squidward was wrong here. Sure. Reading someone else's private business is a terrible thing. But there's no law that says you should get arrested or get your house taken away for reading someone else's diary. The thing that pissed me off the most was that they were all being hypocrites. They were laughing along with Squidward and they all saw SpongeBob taking off his clothes and dancing like a lunatic. And when he runs away crying and humiliated, they just THROW Squidward under the bus, like they didn't take any part of humiliating SpongeBob. Especially Patrick. He could've told Squidward to stop. Instead, he's all, "Fix me up a krabby patty, SpongeBob! With good ol' FEE-FEE! " And then later, he throws tomatoes at Squidward and Squidward tells him that he was reading it too and he said," Oh, blame everyone but YOURSELF! " As much as I like Patrick, he's has this unhealthy addiction of hypocrisy. And honestly, who even cares about diaries anyway?

I agree that what Squidward did was wrong, however what I don't like is how hypocritical everyone was. Instead of rightfully admitting that they took part in humiliating SpongeBob, they go off throwing Squidward under the bus to make themselves look innocent which makes them come off as hypocritical. I believe that your last words were, "READ MORE!" to Squidward. Sound familiar?! This is the problem with Nickelodeon nowadays. Ever since Stephen Hillenburg died, Seasons 6-10, except for Krabby Road were just plain fail. No wonder old SpongeBob fans are complaining. At least it started to look back up again in Seasons 10-13.

Gamer4Life I do have a similar opinion. What Squidward did does count as rude, although SpongeBob did deserve his emotional suffering. It wasn't satisfying to me, but it was for his own good. So Squidward was being rude, and you may say SpongeBob was being rude, but in his defense, his actions were good intentions. He didn't mean to annoy the octopus. Also the townspeople overreacted to Squidward reading SpongeBob's diary. And I don't think the townspeople laughing at SpongeBob was deserved. But anyways, I didn't really like this episode, it's both a SpongeBob and Squidward torture episode.

After all the pain, the horror, and torture Squidward has gone through, the writers make him unlike-able. On top of that, he acts out of character, sure Squidward is pretty grouchy but not CRUEL. Oh and apparently reading someone's diary is a crime in bikini bottom. Really? Just why? So Bikini Bottom is full of damn hypocrites and has awful laws. To be honest, Squidward's behavior is the least of this episode's problems. The writers could have thought of a better way of SpongeBob experiencing karma without making Squidward the villain. Oh wait, SpongeBob gone downhill.

12 Squid Baby Squid Baby is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season 9 where Squidward slams his head on a mailbox which causes his head to swell up which makes him look and act like a baby.

Oh gosh. This episode is disturbing. The content isn't as nightmare inducing as squid's visit. But this episode still belongs in the top 10 worst. The entire plot recycles Rock a bye bivalve, and at the same time makes unfunny gags where squidward gets repeatedly banged in the head. The hypocrisy showcase from little yellow book may have been irritating. But the annoyance from this episode makes you legitimately cringe all the way through. You spend the 11 minutes praying for squidward to survive. There is only one other episode with this kind of plot, the one and only, "One coarse meal", a worse episode. And episodes where the character you root for ends up losing are worthy of the top 10 worst.

Out of all the episodes of SpongeBob I've seen, this is the only one that I can call disgusting in every sense of the word. Every other bad episode I can think of at least had some sort of redeeming quality to it (except for maybe Plankton's Regular). There's none to this one. Not only it has signs of Squidward Torture Porn, it's also filled with baby humour. I hate baby humour. I think it's primitive, disgusting, and I don't find it funny. Every other-themed joke with a potential here either falls flat (the "my leg" gag wasn't even said by the right guy) or I'm not sure was even a joke to begin with (customers begging to give their money). This was not enjoyable in the slightest.

13 Boating Buddies

Out of the few post-movie episodes I've watched, this is easily the worst one I've come across. The jokes try so hard to make you laugh, but I just find them all dull. Not to mention it's one of many Squidward Torture Porns.

The episode starts with Spongebob grooming Gary until he hears what he thinks is 'a strange noise'. While investigating what it is, he decides to get Squidward into trouble once again. While trying to escape in a boat, Squidward destroys a stop sign and gets assigned to Boating School.

When asked by Mrs. Puff, Squidward tries to explain what happened while Spongebob stares him down. When Squidward sits down again, Spongebob starts breathing heavily at him in such a creepy way! You see where I'm going with this?

Also, throughout this episode, Squidward gets beaten up by some muscular fish twice. Squidward torture taken too far, am I wrong? Anyway, after being beaten up for the second time, Squidward ends up in a full body cast right before the exam. And he fails because of it.

What more can I say about this episode that hasn't already been said by EVERYONE else who hates this episode? Spongebob is extremely creepy and annoying to the point of wanting to wring him dry. Squidward gets all of his bones broken because the writers think that beating up a character is funny. I don't care how much you like Spongebob, this is one episode you should REALLY try to avoid. Believe me, you'll be thanking me later.

14 To Love a Patty

There are not enough words to describe how much I HATE this episode. The main reason (but not the only one) is that scene where SpongeBob kills clams to save a sandwich! That scene to me was blatant character assassination, the old SpongeBob would never show such disregard for innocent animals lives! Earlier episodes showed him to be kind and caring, not to mention he's a pet owner, he even raised a baby clam in one episode, what if one of the clams he killed was THAT clam! First time I saw this episode I screamed at the T.V. at the clam scene. Do the writers not watch the old episodes?

Another dreadful episode with a weak plot that relies on gross humor for laughs. The song is awful too and seriously cringeworthy. Actually the thing that bugs me most about this episode is watching SpongeBob rip apart the scallop shells! Hang on a minute! Does anyone remember the episode Rock a bye bivalve? Didn't the kind and caring SpongeBob we all know, raise and nurture a baby scallop in that episode? Yet here we see him brutally murder the very creature he loved and cared for Seems very out of character for SpongeBob to be killing things and that is just MESSED UP! Just highlights how little the new writers understanding of his character is, someone should make them sit and watch series 1-3 thouroughly!

Basically, SpongeBob, while working, makes a Krabby Patty shaped like a woman's head, so he falls in love with her. So much for liking Sandy... Or being homosexual. I dunno.

Then there's a horrible song! And we find out SpongeBob is a scallop murderer! What the heck!

All this time, we see Patty is starting to rot, making this episode even more disgusting the more we watch.

Finally, when he takes the rotting Patty to a "dinner" at the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs and the rest of the gang talk some sense into SpongeBob. So what does SpongeBob do? EATS her.

... Ok then.

"Gross-out humor" That's all you need to know about this episode. If you don't enjoy that, then don't watch. It also has a really stupid plot where SpongeBob is in love with a Krabby Patty. What the hell? What were the writers thinking? The only thing that this show was good for was the rather funny song "Oh Baby", but it still had very mixed lyrics where at one point, SpongeBob is singing normally, but then he starts making corny lines and stupid karate noises during the song.

15 Face Freeze!

This episode was a waste of your time. Ok, SpongeBob and Patrick make disgusting and disturbing faces. Then, Mr Krabs yells at them and says that of they make a face they will hold it forever. what? And then they take the challenge and then get their faces stuck. And now Sandy tries to fix it, which at one point she did, and then she kept going, and made SpongeBob and Patrick look even worse! I hate when Sandy thinks she's so advanced. And then I don't understand Squidward and Mr Krabs make faces for one second, and then they keep it forever! Again, what? And there's no solution! They just stay like that for no reason whatsoever! SpongeBob should be cancelled, NOW!

Face Freeze's mainly because of its ending symbolizes everything wrong with the episode. A bad plot and a bunch of disturbing faces lead up to Sponge Bob and Patrick perpetually stuck with different head shapes, and Mr. Crabs and Squid Ward ultimately share the same fate. The episode ends with the four shifting between grotesque, ugly faces. At least One Coarse Meal and A Pal for Gary, evil and tasteless as they are, told a story. Face Freeze uses a lame "plot" so the artists can create absolute terror to televise to the planet, and anyone hoping for it to be resolved is treated with the episode ending with a ton of them.

16 Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy

I agree that this episode was pointless and wasted. There was even too many errors and goofs. Why didn't people see that Sandy didn't have eyeballs or mouth? The charcters of the show were seen naked all episodes and technically, Sandy wasn't FULLY NAKED! For crying out loud, she was in a bikini! How come the fish were smart to know about the names of mammals when the fish themselves are naked and Sandy was only in the bikini and they were dumb enough to figure it out. The people being disgusted and throwing things at Sandy were on my last nerves. I hate this episode so much and doesn't make any sense. P.s. I also don't like seeing Sandy arrested for a crime that she isn't actually naked.

This is actually a CRAZY episode. My main problems with this is the law in Bikini Bottom. This episode is telling me that identity theft is okay, but Sandy not wearing her space suit once is a bad thing?! For real? First of all, these are a majority of people who are naked most of the time. Almost all of the Bikini Bottomites are naked, some of them in bikinis, some just in skirts and bras, others shirtless, others just wearing a shirt without any pants, Plankton is fully naked AND trying to steal the formula, and Sandy's identity, so it's a big fat one thousand against one person who wears a FREAKING space suit! And SANDY gets arrested? What the...

17 Truth or Square SpongeBob's Truth or Square is a 2009 made-for-television comedy special and an hour-long episode of the American animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants

I was disappointed about this episode they were saying in the commercials that they were revealing the secret formula. I was so excited to see it, but it ended up to be boring, pointless and they didn't even reveal the secret formula. It also shows that Mr. Krabs stalks squidward and SpongeBob which is weird. This was one of the worst specials of SpongeBob ever other than alantis squarepantis. This had lots of build up and they gave us crap.

This episode slash Special was a poor excuse of animation which is nothing more than a complete waste of air time they should call this episode "Lie or Square" because its all this thing really is LIES,LIES,LIES,LIES, and the Patchy the Pirate segments are nothing but pointless filler that literally does nothing for the special Triumph The Insult Comic Dog said it best "Maybe you should consider wearing two eye patches that way you wouldn't be able to see what's become of your life! " which I'm pretty sure is not only directed towards Tom Kenny himself but to the show as a whole, and later as Patchy kidnaps Robin Williams he states "Wait a minute I know this place, this is where careers come to die! ".

I actually think this episode is okay. There are some parts that I liked like when Patchy is in the whales stomach and shows the Spongebob theme song but with Squidward, Patrick and Mr. Krabs and the song at the beginning of the episode. This episode is mostly really hated just because it is way too long and is full of some unnecessary Patchy segments.

Hello, my opinion on this episode is that I call it unique. It has a retarded plot but it is different not only because it is the 10th anniversary, but it intends to keep an intriguing background throughout. So it is stupidly unique. So don't get me wrong, it is a very stupid episode, but is an outcast than the others.

18 Squid's Visit

This is a nightmarish acid trip of a SpongeBob episode, and not for a good reason. Honestly, the episode itself reminds me of the Song of Healing or the flashbacks set in a dark background in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, but without the writing that makes them work. SpongeBob himself is barely in this episode, which is good, but he devolves into being borderline psychotic when he makes his own rooms in his own house to be exact replicas of Squidward's house. Even Squidward seems to be freaked out at this, and he goes into a phase of insanity, and we're treated to some creepy imagery. And the ending is not a good way to end this horror show off. At least with other creepy episodes, they had good writing, but nope. The writers were probably on crack or acid when making this.

Not my least favorite, but I voted for it because it NEEDS to be somewhere at the top. Spongebob's most notable trait is that he is really annoying (watch Funny Pants if you want an example), but his second most notable trait is that he is really creepy and always likes to get under people's skin, including mine. This episode is the epitome of Spongebob's creepiness. Basically, Spongebob wants Squidward to visit his house so badly that he remodels his house to look EXACTLY like Squidward's house, and I mean EXACTLY. Every single detail is exact. Heck, Spongebob's not even in the episode a whole lot, but you can still feel his presence. You can almost hear his sinister laugh echoing down the halls. Also, the ending sucks, too; a notable trope for newer Spongebob episodes.

I didn't realize it when I was a kid, but this episode has always been incredibly freaky. Other episodes like One Coarse Meal may have been disheartening, but it never could make your skin crawl like this one does. Other than being the classic Squidward Torture, it gets topped off by downright mental obsessiveness. Its episodes like these that make you wonder why SpongeBob is even liked as a character anymore. I always skipped this episode when I was younger and continue to do so. But unlike other creepy episodes like Graveyard Shift and Rock Bottom which finally got resolved after the episode, this episode is ended with Squidward dating his vacuum cleaner and the casserole scene. It leaves a bitter after taste which is why this episode is so hated.

Squid's visit is very debatably worthy of falling into the bottom 10 episodes. The main problem with the episode isn't the uncanny replica of squidward's house. It's the fact that this episode alone acknowledges that SpongeBob is a creepy person. There was no reason for SpongeBob to invite squidward over; it's almost like his invitation was nothing short of a contrived kidnapping. This kind of stuff is stated in earnest, meaning that the writers here wanted to showcase the character of season 6 SpongeBob. Season 6 SpongeBob is not naïve or charming. He is demented and creepy. Also, the episodic structure is very flimsy. The idea here is SpongeBob getting squidward to come to his house. Nothing here is funny. Boating buddies may be very annoying. But this episode is excessively creepy. The plot was very aware of the problem that it refused to fix. It also showcases the worst problems with SpongeBob's new character. This episode belongs in the top 10 worst because of its intent to go ...more

19 Dear Vikings

This was the first SpongeBob episode I actually hated. The show was already pretty weak for me for a while before this episode came out, but I was mostly in denial and just thought that I was "outgrowing" it. But then this episode happened and it just hit me that this show really was going downhill.

This episode was just unbelievable. Every character is so horribly oversimplified, the jokes were bad, the plot was uninteresting. In fact the whole thing felt like a bad preschool show. SpongeBob SquarePants is supposed to be a smart kids show, that anyone of any age could enjoy. This episode is so bad it could insult a 4 year old's intelligence. Then you have the poor excuse of an ending, "now that's what I call, a viking sized adventure".

On a personal level it rubs off me bad because before this I would try to make the case that SpongeBob isn't just for little kids, then they pull this episode as a stab to the back.

It has one of the worst and rushed endings in the entire series. Just to save you the torture of seeing the episode, I'm gonna spoil it: SpongeBob wanted to know all about Vikings, so he sends a letter to them explaining his request. The Vikings, for no other good reason, kidnap SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward just to make them a part of their crew. The Vikings then crash into an iceberg and get a leak into their ship. SpongeBob patches up the leak with his body and... the motherfreaking end. That's it. SpongeBob learned absolutely nothing about Vikings, which was the whole point of the episode, except on throwing shields or whatever the hell it was. SpongeBob asked them a series of questions and the Vikings didn't even have answers, which was so stupid. This episode would've been better off being 30 minutes just to make the episode more fleshed out, but it was so bad that even doing that wouldn't have been able to save it.

Horrendous but not the worst. The two main reasons why this is a (In PieGuyRulz words) a Scumbob Episode: Spongebob doesn't know what a Viking is. Someone who celebrates Leaf Erickson day doesn't know what a Viking is, someone who wears a Viking hat in their theme song doesn't know what a Viking is. The description of this episode is "Spongebob and Squidward get shanghaied by Vikings" Really, writers, you're DESCRIPTION says the episode you're ripping off, "SHANGHIED" one of the best spongebob episodes of all time

Information came from PieGuyRulz (I'm not PieGuyRulz, just a fan of his that's all)

The lack of jokes in this is sad and you can see that the writers are trying SO HARD to get a laugh with the jokes RIGHT UP IN YOUR FACE but they're all dull. I will admit that the "all the vikings on the ship are named Olaf" joke got me the first time, but after that it was just stupid. Not to mention the HORRIBLE ENDING! The main conflict was thrown in so late that no one could have expected it. When it DID come however, it was so late in the episode that it ended after about 30 seconds. PATHETIC!

20 Are You Happy Now?

"I can't seem to get happy... maybe this would help."
Just like Squid's Visit and One Coarse Meal, this is another controversial episode that just falls flat on its face. It focuses on Squidward spiralling into a deep depression, which, I'll give them credit, it's good for them to tackle a serious subject like that, I was once depressed in my life (never had any suicidal thoughts, I just felt really bad about myself and was in need of support, high school counselor meetings helped... almost), but what they do instead is handle a topic like this poorly and had some distasteful suicide jokes, such as the old "giving himself carbon monoxide poisoning" or "hanging himself" gags, similar to Moe from The Simpsons. I literally thought they would make fun of rape, terrorist attacks or domestic violence in the future after watching this episode, however modern Family Guy tried all those and failed...

21 Good Neighbors

Squidward has every EXCUSE to hate Spongebob and Patrick. I'm not saying that I hate Spongebob, but they went too far in this episode. Okay, sure Squidward can be extremely shady at times, but for good reasons and he has every right to. Because it's as if everyone keeps ganging up on Squidward for no reason whatsoever. Squidward did nothing to deserve this kind of torture and for some reason, if he tries to relax for like a few seconds, he'll get tortured for the rest of his life.
Okay as much as I like Spongebob, he has no personality beyond being a nice person. He's not really mature, he acts like a 2 year old and he's too much of a butt kisser to that cheapo Mr. Krabs, and he cries way too much and he has this annoying laugh that makes your ears bleed. So what did Squidward do to deserve this? Nothing. This makes me hate Spongebob at times.

Last year (in October 2018), I was on a Persian site where they had several SpongeBob episodes, whether it was good episodes like Pizza Delivery or bad episodes like Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy, or even newer episodes like Lame and Fortune. Out of all of them, they all had dubbings in the Persian language, even though the Persian dubs of SpongeBob aren't professional and don't use the original score. But this episode, however, was on the site, but not in Persian, but in English. So, this is the ONLY SpongeBob episode I know of that doesn't have a Persian dub. Does that say something here? Because I think it does, and what it says, is that this episode is AWFUL! SO awful, that it wasn't dubbed in Persian, even though the other episodes on that site had Persian dubbings, even A Pal for Gary.

22 Trench Billies

This episode is ugly, disturbing and unpleasant. That's how I'd describe it. It's plot is boring and pointless, it's jokes are terrible (none of them get a laugh), it's tone is mean-spirited the character designs of the Trench Billies are disgusting and hard to look at, it relies on redneck stereotypes because the writers don't know how to write interesting characters anymore, or use the ones that are interesting (or at least used to be). Not to mention that the episode references incest.

Mau was 500 pounds and sat on a couch. Didn't one of the redneck fish appear from the inside of an outhouse and corner the two morons out of nowhere? They also could have stood to keep the spitting to a minimum considering I ate dinner the first time I saw it but I guess gross makes gross product. Money talks as Krabs says! That episode was possibly the most predictable once the plot was revealed. Put that on the list.

Very disturbing, the ugly, evil trench billies kidnap spongebob and patrick and force them to live in their isolated society forever. They manage to escape and run away to the krusty krab the trench billies find them and force mr krabs to marry their clan leader. The whole episode is just stupid and pointless the writers have run out of ideas and are now making up pathetic plots for episodes.

Being part of a ratings trap called Legends of Bikini Bottom, this was hands down, the worst of them, and here's why...
First of all, you already know it has incestuous hillbilly stereotypes, and how they act to Spongebob and Patrick in this is very disturbing, to the point of trying to kill and enslave them. And the humor, don't even ask.
It's episodes like these where I wish Hillenburg still worked on the show.

23 WhoBob WhatPants?

Another terrible SpongeBob special with a wasted celebrity cameo. This special is nothing, but mean-spirited from the jokes to the characters. SpongeBob's friends are unnecessarily cruel to him when SpongeBob ruined everything by accident. There is even a joke offending the homeless when they can't even watch the episode. Squidward is the most unlikeable character here because he is excited that SpongeBob is gone, and doesn't feel guilty about what he said. The amnesia plot is cliche and pointless to the story. In the end, nothing changed and this whole special was pointless and a waste of time. Also, who could forget the most infamous part of the episode with the worst facial expression in the entire show.

This episode has more problems than any other episode of the show. It's way too cruel to SpongeBob throughout the whole episode, and when his friends make their turnaround, it's incredibly forced. I also think that while Squidward is a jerk, Mr. Krabs is like 4 times worse because he needs SpongeBob the most, and seems to regret chasing him off the least.
You also have that face that while I find incredibly hilarious, in reality is quite possibly the worst face of the whole show. But the worst part about this episode is it's pacing. Everything is out of whack timing-wise, and is poorly placed for what kind of story this episdoe is trying to tell. And the climax while decent, comes too early and the story looses any real tension afterwards. Probably the worst episode of the show, but not my most hated.
There's also the wasted celebrity cameo, gross out where it shouldn't be, flanderization, and hypocrisy within the plot itself. Patrick is smart enough to bake a cake outside, but can't tell the difference between SpongeBob and a female fish... and Bikini Bottom can't function without SpongeBob making Krabby Patties, but the town can't have him there or else there would be chaos. You CAN'T have the good without the bad.

24 Ink Lemonade

Welcome to how to make the worst SpongeBob episode of all time. Here, I will demonstrate everything a SpongeBob episode should have in order to make your audience changing the channel:

1. Come up with a nonsense random plot to terrify your audience
2. Begin with Patrick doing stupid things or doing absolutley nothing
3. Make sure Patrick is a prick throughout the episode
4. The story should have Squid torture as the main idea, and make Squidward scream throughout the episode so that the audience can get irritated
5. Make your ending loose

This is the worst episode I have ever seen. The jokes are terrible, the main idea feels like season 6, and this is one of Patrick's worst moments. I will surely never forgive Patrick because he destroyed season 11. I surely have no idea what's gonna happen to the next episodes. Either it's gonna be bad or improved.

Much like lot's of others I dislike this episode. The part where Spongebob and Patrick put Squidward into a room where it looks like Squidward would still be a cashier 50 years into the future is easily one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. Ever.

25 Shuffleboarding

I'v always like shuffleboarding, and I've wanted to try it, so when I first heard of this episode, I thought it would've been good. Wrong.
After SpongeBob and Patrick's superheroes, MM and BB get injured, they were forced to take over their shuffleboarding tournament for them. First of all, there was no shuffleboarding in this episode. SpongeBob and Patrick just left and then they won. But that's not even the worst part. As they were coming home, they started arresting people for no reason! In fact, when they give MM and BB they trophies, the arrested people came back and chased them, even though they were innocent!

SpongeBob and Patrick pretend to be their favorite superheroes and end up arresting all those people for nothing! They even arrested an lady just because she was old! When they did this, I was so mad! Not only that, but there was no shuffleboarding at all! In the first scene, SpongeBob and Patrick are going to the tournament. In the next, they already have the trophies! Definitely the worst episode ever! How is this not number one?
