Top 10 Worst Things About Family Guy and American Dad!

Family Guy and American Dad! both sucked from the start, even during their early seasons.

The Top Ten

1 They were what made Seth MacFarlane lose his talent

They made me lose faith in him. He actually used to do awesome at Cartoon Network, but now he sucks.

In fact, BOTH shows are perfect for a one-hour crossover. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

Yea I heard he used to do Johnny Bravo, which is more funnier. Johnny is better than Quagmire.

Your opinion, but try to respect other people's opinions too. - KalloFox34

2 Family Guy got a revival, yet Mission Hill didn't

Animation was such a respected art form until Family Guy premiered and ruined it! There was never a reason for Family Guy to exist. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

I agree more with SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy on EVERYTHING wrong with Family Guy and American Dad! I mean, I understand Home Movies getting a revival on [adult swim]. I understand Futurama getting a revival, even though I don't think it needs to be on Comedy Central. I understand Samurai Jack getting a revival. But here's the thing: Those three adult animated shows WERE good! Family Guy WAS NOT! Neither was American Dad! I for one NEVER liked either show. EVEN THE EARLY SEASONS OF FAMILY GUY WERE UTTER GARBAGE! Mission Hill isn't even the ONLY adult cartoon that should've had a revival! So should the Oblongs...! I felt so ashamed that those two shows never got a revival (even though Angus Oblong has plans to revive the Oblongs...). AND YET FAMILY GUY DID?! Home Movies, Futurama, and Samurai Jack, I understand. Family Guy? No. Family Guy is just what happens when you take the Simpsons, and just neuter it. Seth MacFarlane actually DID used to have talent, until he made this pile of garbage. ...more

3 American Dad! is just Family Guy with political lessons instead of cutaway gags

Even without the cutaway gags and random pop culture references, I can't stand American Dad! - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

4 The early episodes of both shows aged horribly

NO THEY DIDN'T! Yes, American Dad! DID begin to suck, but that's because it moved over to TBS. The Fox era still aged good. The TBS era is where the show began to suck. I still enjoy the Fox era better than Family Guy, which actually DID used to be good, unlike South Park. I seriously don't get how people enjoy the first SIXTEEN seasons of South Park compared to Family Guy's FIRST FEW seasons! How is Family Guy back then the same show that it is now?! Even your explanation makes no sense. - Grojfan100

Family Guy's first few seasons LITERALLY is the same that Family Guy is now. The only differences are they it was slightly tamer, and it only had ONE PERCENT of heart. It still had annoying characters, random cutaway gags, and pop culture references that came out of nowhere!

American Dad! is just the same from start to finish, EVEN BEFORE AMERICAN FUNG PREMIERED! - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

5 Their animation is the exact same

No surprise they share the same universe. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

So what if they have the same artstyle? - KalloFox34

6 Meg, Steve, Klaus, Toshi, Barry, Snot, Esther, Patty, Ruth get too much abuse

Meg gets the worst of the abuse

In Family Guy, Meg, Esther, Patti, and Ruth are the only GOOD characters.
In American Dad!, Steve, Toshi, Barry, Snot, and Klaus are the only GOOD characters.

THEY ALL get abused for the same reason, except Klaus: They are "ugly and nerdy", which makes no sense!,

Klaus was just a German man trapped in a fish's body, and everybody even abuses him, even I feel sorry for the poor dude.

Steve Smith is just a male version of Meg Griffin. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

I don't sympathize with Meg, because she's a teenage girl and not a cute boy like Timmy. - kcianciulli

You hate Timmy, but like Meg?! Meg isn't cute like Timmy. - kcianciulli

I feel very sorry for these characters, though it's just a cartoon, but still.

7 Brian Griffin is a hypocritical bully

He's just Patrick Star, but as a dog voiced by Seth MacFarlane. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

What does Brian have in common with Patrick at all? Honestly, they'd have a WHOLE lot more in common if Brian was conservative. - KalloFox34

8 Roger Smith and Stewie Griffin are both gay stereotypes

A gay baby lol.

They both are offensive to gay people! - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

9 Stan Smith and Peter Griffin are annoying and selfish fathers

They both annoy me for no reason, other than just for laughs. They even abuse their own children! Stan Smith abused his own son Steve the same way Peter Griffin abused his own daughter Meg. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

Well, you are right about one thing, they are selfish fathers. Not to just Steve and Meg but to all their children. - kcianciulli

But that doesn't make Hayley, Chris, OR Stewie any likable, because they're just as bad. THEY TOO abused Steve and Meg. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

10 Francine Smith and Lois Griffin are just sex symbols

They're the same character! - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

But Francine is just so damn hot. - kcianciulli

The Contenders

11 They make fun of our favorite cartoon characters in the most traumatizing way

For example: Elmer Fudd shooting Bugs Bunny to death. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

12 Both are pathetic copycats of The Simpsons

I can understand Family Guy, but American Dad is nothing like the Simpsons. - 445956

I can understand where you're coming from. - kcianciulli

13 They treat women like objects

They are the most sexist cartoons alone! Superjail! just contributed to that as well! - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

14 9/11 Jokes

Some of them aren't jokes. - kcianciulli

Because why not? - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

15 They ruin animation as a respected art form

Uh No, Allen Gregory did. - kcianciulli

16 Hayley Smith is a mixture of Brian Griffin and Chris Griffin

An abusive older sibling crossed with a hypocrite. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy

17 Pop culture references that make no sense

I don't even understand any pop culture references in any of Seth MacFarlane's works. - SpaceGoofsGeekerBoy
