Top Ten Worst Things About Pokemon Light Platinum

If you guys don't know, Pokemon Light Platinum is a very popular rom hack for Ruby. And it does quite a lot of things. But does it do them well? I beg to differ on popular opinion on this particular rom hack, so I made a list.
The Top Ten
1 Save Game Glitches

This is probably the biggest issue and the weird thing is it has something to do with in-game saving. Basically some events seem to not happen or worse, completely reset which forces you to redo them. It makes stuff like finding the sixth gym leader annoying (he's in a power plant supposedly but sometimes he's not inside). This in itself makes the rom hack seem broken, despite supposedly being finished.

2 Repetitive NPC Dialogue

One of the things that rom hackers should do is make things seem different. Other rom hacks I've played managed to do that well, by giving different dialogue as it pertains to whichever place I'm at. Not the case in Pokemon Light Platinum, because unfortunately a lot of NPC dialogue tends to be recycled. In fact, there are at least FOUR Pokemon Centers with the EXACT SAME PEOPLE WHO SAY THE EXACT SAME THINGS.

3 Repetitive Trainer Battles

What I mean by this, I'll give an example: the evil Team Steam. Their grunts are bad enough because of their repetitive dialogue, but their Pokemon teams are often reused.

On Mt. Winter there are six grunts that have two level 40 Kadabras, a level 40 Gardevoir, and a level 38 Lopunny. SIX.
And at Steam HQ there are nine grunts with a team of a level 41 Glameow and two level 43 Puruglys. And seven of them you fight in a row!

This means you can just reuse a strategy to totally win these battles and it actually isn't fun.

4 The Legendary Pokemon Cutscenes are Long and Boring

This item speaks for itself.

5 Too Many Rivals

A lot of rom hacks seem to employ this, so Light Platinum isn't alone, but the weird thing about the rivals is that they somehow get WEAKER as you progress, which doesn't make a lot of sense. And the rivals are really fanservice because they are all familiar characters from anime/manga.

6 Emboar Evolves Into Scoliopede

This is by far and away the DUMBEST thing in this rom hack. Emboar is a Fire starter, the final form of Tepig, but if you level it to at least 37 the rom hack thinks it should evolve into Scoliopede.

7 No Running Shoes Until After the First Gym

Before you say anything, yes FR/LG does give the Running Shoes after the first gym too. But the difference between that and others basically dictates to how much time it takes just to GET to the town with the first gym, and then beat the leader. For Light Platinum, you've actually got quite a long way to go. Other hacks have this issue too with the Running Shoes not being available until later, like Pokemon Victory Fire, but at least the town with the first gym is close by in comparison to the long haul to reach the first gym town in Light Platinum.

8 The Safari Zone is Useless

The Safari Zone is supposed to be a place where you can catch mons you can't find in regular areas. But not only is it accessible way too early, every single mon you can find in the individual areas can be found elsewhere, so it's useless.

9 Too Many Freebies and Endgame Items Early

When I play a rom hack I look for both fun and challenge. The challenge part can make or break things, but Light Platinum decides the best way to get some mons is to just give them away. This applies to a number of them like the starters, Eevee, and a few rare ones like Axew, Deino, Larvesta, Riolu, bottom line is honestly why so many. Even more, you can get endgame items like Max Potion and Full Restore in earlier locations than they should be, and it doesn't make sense. Even the early PokeMarts give you endgame items, and then when you get midway the wares get worse.

10 Escape Rope Can Only Be Bought at the Department Store

I think this is a huge issue, and it pertains to the PokeMarts I mentioned in the other item. Escape Ropes help with those big and annoying cave areas, but not being able to buy them until you reach the town with the department store (very far into the game, it's the town with the eighth gym) is ridiculous. I'd have to get a mon with Dig just to be able to quickly exit places, and it's tedious.
