What kind of things belong on Worst Things That Happened lists?

NuMetalManiak So here we are, new year 2020, already we are seeing people dying and worst events showing up and it has only been 5 days into 2020. So what exactly should be on this list, in terms of deaths? I'll give my opinions.

Sudden deaths: I'd say this is the big one. SamanthaRosie mentions Lexi Alijai, and while I may not know exactly who this is she apparently passed away at a young age of 21. Given that she could have possibly made it big and was a rising star, then to have that person die so suddenly, it's a good pick for a death on this kind of list. These kinds of people who suddenly die may or may not actually be famous, but their sudden passing is sudden, so it works.

Deaths of noteworthy and globally known people who have made BIG impacts: And I mean BIG IMPACTS. Not someone who was a famous author in one country but not a world-reknown author. Someone who's a noteworthy contributor to helping out people who need it (Grandpa Kitchen from 2019 was a notable example) or someone who is world famous in certain industries dying is a sad moment.

But if it is someone who is most-known only from a certain area, had made stuff in one industry but is not world-reknown, then they really don't belong here as most people really wouldn't know or care anyways. Politicians are a gray area, since they are either liked or hated. I noticed a lot of sports reporters in the last list, and this one has David Stern which for dumb reasons got a lot of media coverage. Most people like to watch sports but don't really care for sports reporters. Plus Stern has retired already, and his legacy lives on regardless of when he would have died.

What other stuff could be on this list?

Disastrous events with multiple casualties:
NOT one or none casualty as some of the list items currently have. The Orlando, Houston, and Indiana shootings on this list have 2, 1, and ZERO casualties respectively. None are mass shootings. None can be considered "horrible days" for the city or state, and none of them mean that 2020 is off to a bad start. There will be worse events, we don't want them to happen but there WILL be worse events. The Australia fires and the Jakarta flooding are good examples of disastrous events with multiple casualties. They belong here, but the other shootings that follow it are kind of like the stuff you would see on local news. Which basically amounts to yes, people are dying each day so obviously these events are sad on a local spectrum but not in a way that they should be among the top spots on a globally-available TheTopTens list.

Things that should not be on this list: How about the disbanding of certain bands or the cancelling of certain TV shows unless they aren't really well known? Like globally well known enough that more than three-quarters of the general first world population have heard of. I can probably understand if a global sensation goes away or disbands or gets cancelled, but not something that isn't of actual legendary status.

Think globally and more memorable, not locally and less memorable.

Are you assuming David Stern didn't make a big impact? I have to disagree with you on this one. He was the commissioner of the NBA not a sports reporter. He made basketball a global sport. Just because you maybe don't know about him, doesn't mean he isn't famous. - 2storm

I found it weird that the media outlet that I heard about David Stern never mentioned anything about him being an NBA commissioner, just a sports reporter. If they had actually said something about being a commissioner then maybe he was certainly famous. - NuMetalManiak

What media outlet was it? Because he was not a sports reporter. - 2storm

Anything that's terrible, though some things are much worse than others. The worst things go high on the list and the terrible things that didn't make much of a big impact go lower on the list. - SamanthaRosie

Don't forget about how Loni Love and Kartik Aryaan admitted to pedophilia and they are not arrested yet. For those who are unaware reading his Twitter post, it's been revealed that Loni Love assaulted and raped Kyle Lai-Fatt horribly when he was in South Korea promoting his album, before she would have her own show. I hope whoever created videos about her being nice to other people and her co stars takes it down on YouTube. She's like a female version of R. Kelly. I can't believe they would still have her on The Real when she was a rapist and sexual predator, for crying out loud! - KatushStella

Feel free to add it to that list (assuming these are true and not fabricated, then you get the lies about them on the list instead! ) - NuMetalManiak

Yeah, I will still pray for KLF, and yes it is true, she raped him in 2013! We all know who she is. She's a monster now! - KatushStella

Those items are added to the list. I don't know where they are at. (Kartik Aaryan's Child Pornography, Loni Love's Child Pornography, Kyle Lai-Fatt Sexually Harassed by Loni Love in 2013) - KatushStella

Yeah I agree there are a lot of not especially important things that often get added to these lists. What is your opinion on whether a drought in New Zealand could be added? It admittedly has not killed anyone but it has caused several hundred million dollars worth of losses to farmers so I would say it's kind of significant even if it does not deserve to be very high on the list. - Powell
