Monthly analysis: Worst Things That Happened in 2020: January

NuMetalManiak It's hard to say it, but I may not bother with a FFLA for this list at all. Probably because last year's list was so egregious on so many minor tragedies that weren't as tragic as they seem. So instead I'll opt for a monthly analysis of the worst things that happened in 2020 that may be more tragic or not, depending on how things go.

What deserves to be at the top 10?

1. Australian Bushfires Continue
2. Coronavirus Outbreak
3. The Assassination of Soleimani
4. Death of Kobe Bryant
5. Taal Volcano eruption
6. YouTube COPPA Update Released
7. Support for Windows 7 Ended
8. Non-Stop Donald Trump Impeachment Talk
9. Warehouse of Relief Supplies from 2017 Found in Puerto Rico
10. Ukrainian Boeing 737 Plane Crash in Iran

This is an unordered hypothetical remix of this list that outlines the absolute biggest events that truly can be considered "worst" worldwide, or at least the ones you are likely to see on national news by any chance. A few miss the top 10 mark, such as Jakarta Flooding, and such. Deaths of Rocky Johnson, Neil Peart, and David Stern also miss the mark, they are well-known in their niche communities but most people will probably only remember them once or twice. The rest of the deaths, listed below, are much less well-known.

Lexii Alijai: Rising hip-hop star who unexpectedly passed away at 21
Serikbolsyn Abdildin: Kazakhstan politician, ACTUALLY DOESN'T BELONG ON THIS LIST because he died on December 31st 2019.
Monica Echeverria: Chilean journalist, 99
David Olney: Folk performer, died suddenly while onstage, 71
Don Larsen: "Perfect pitch" but not a surprising age to die at 90.
Infant: While the name is likely redacted this little incident where an infant was beaten to date was savage and awful.
Richard Maponya: South African businessman, 99
Elizabeth Wurtzel: Prozac nation author, 52
John Baldessari: Conceptual artist, 88
Buck Henry: SNL host, actor, director, screenwriter, 89. Somewhat of a high profile.
Edd Byrnes: Grease host, Kookie, 87.
Harry Hains: No wikipedia page but this guy apparently was an actor with only minor roles, 27 which is sudden
Maxie: While I have no good opinions on Youtubers it sucks that this was among those who died on the Ukrainian plane. Also he is NOT THE FIRST DEATH OF 2020.
Ahmed Ali: Bangladesh politician, 87.
Chilli M: Radio broadcaster, alcohol poisoning, 42.
M. Chidananda Murthy: Indian historian, 88
Hilarion Vendégou: French politician, 78
La Park II: AAA wrestler, died from an accident surprisingly, 56
Samantha Jaelle: Youtuber, 49
Nadila: I can't find one single ounce of info on this one.
Stan Kirsch: Friends actor, committed suicide which sucks, 51

So do you recognize any of these names? I only really could find one name I recognized. These particular deaths need to remain near the bottom of the list, they are not well known and news never talks about them much anyways. Sorry if this sounds jerkish, but it has to be said, no one knows much about them and even though we can be informed of who they are, they will quickly be forgotten.

Now onto the other "tragedies" in order of severity

Magnitude 6.7 Eastern Turkey Earthquake: 41 dead
Tarragona Chemical Factory Explosion: 6 injured, 3 killed
Torreón School Shooting: 2 dead, suspect was 11 years old
Orange County FL Club Shooting: 2 dead
Southwest Houston TX Apartment Shooting: 1 dead
Indiana Subway Shooting: 1 in critical condition
Puerto Rico Earthquake (no specific info was given here)

So the Turkey earthquake was the big one that probably deserves its spot among the Top 10 or closer.

Things that don't belong here and my reasons why:

YouTube Terminated Calon Sarjana’s Channel: According to another commenter here this guy plagiarized content so he deserved it.
X1 Disbands: WHO CARES. GOD. I hate K-pop fans. And besides they can reform whenever.
Jeffree Star & Nathan Schwandt Broke Up: They can always find better partners.
Astros Cheating Scandal: I really wish minor scandals would just stop showing up.
