Worst Thrash Metal Bands

Someone had to make the list. Basically, everything but Megadeth and Slayer sucks.
The Top Ten
1 Vio-Lence Vio-lence was an American thrash metal band formed in 1985 in the San Francisco Bay Area. They released demo tapes, one EP and 3 LPs between 1985 and 1993. Their most stable line-up was Phil Demmel and Robb Flynn on guitars, Deen Dell on bass, Perry Strickland on drums and Sean Killian on vocals.

Yes! They deserve #1. They'd be much better if they didn't have a lead singer that sounds like he put too much chilli in his mouth.

2 Metallica Metallica is an American Heavy/Thrash Metal band formed in 1981. The original lineup was James Hetfield (Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney (Bassist). The group came into mainstream from their Self-Titled album and the hit single "Enter Sandman".

With their first two albums, Kill 'Em All and Ride The Lightning reaching underground success, their third effort, Master of Puppets has since become one of the most important heavy metal albums ever, as it became the first thrash metal album to be certified platinum. The title track has since become the band's most played song live. ...read more.

Metallica is the best example of a band that wasted it's career. KEA and RTL were amazing while MOP and AJFA were decent. The Black Album started their streak of inconsistent albums ranging from hard rock to punk to traditional metal. Even when they converted back to Thrash, their vocals were horrible and unbearable to hear.

What?! Metallica doesn't deserve to be here! They literally invented this subgenre of metal so if they suck then all of thrash metal sucks! -Avery

First album was made under the influence of Mustaine, the others are power metal, then all their productions go down... every time is worst!

Hell no! They don't deserve to be here, shouldn't even touch this list. They are the greatest.

3 Defiance
4 Thrash Queen
5 Anthrax Anthrax is an American thrash metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker.

This list is a joke. Anthrax is amazing, Among the Living, Worship Music, Persistence of Time, and State of Euphoria are all great albums.

Why are Metallica, Kreator, Overkill, Exodus, Testament, and Sepultura here? All of them are great and very influential. Pantera and Exciter aren't even thrash

Are you serious? Anthrax is amazing! Not to mention that they never abandoned thrash metal

6 Deliverance
7 Uncle Sam
8 GWAR Gwar, often styled as GWAR, is an American heavy metal band formed in Richmond, Virginia, United States, in 1984, composed of and operated by a frequently rotating line-up of musicians, artists and filmmakers collectively known as Slave Pit Inc.
9 Hatchet
10 Nuclear Assault Nuclear Assault is an American thrash metal band from New York City, formed after bassist Dan Lilker left Anthrax in 1984. After releasing five full-length albums and touring relentlessly throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Nuclear Assault split up in 1995. They briefly reunited in 1997 and again in 2002, and split up for good in 2022.
The Contenders
11 Exodus Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. Spanning a career of 37 years, Exodus has gone through numerous lineup changes, two extended hiatuses, and the deaths of two former band members.

Why are they on this list? They are one of the greats! Way better than Megadeth.

12 Sepultura Sepultura is a Brazilian heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte. Their first album, Morbid Visions presented a proto-black metal sound with Wagner Lamounier of Sarcófago. Sepultura's sound varies by the album, from thrash metal, groove metal, and even death metal.

Sepultura is great.

13 Tourniquet

This list should not exist. I don't think there is a bad thrash metal band

These guys are great!

14 Pantera Pantera was an American heavy metal band formed in 1981 by guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul. The band started out as a glam metal act in the 1980s with little success. After discarding their original lead vocalist and enlisting Phil Anselmo, the band signed a major record deal with Warner Music Group via Atco Records. Around this time, Pantera underwent a major change in their musical... read more

It takes a really retarded stupid dumbass to put Pantera on here. what!

Groove Metal and Glam Metal.

15 Suicidal Tendencies Suicidal Tendencies is an American crossover thrash band founded in 1980 in Venice, California by vocalist Mike Muir, who is the only remaining original member of the band. The band is often credited as one of "the fathers of crossover thrash".

Yes they are. Learn the difference between real punk and crossover thrash

Aren't even metal

16 Kreator Kreator is a German thrash metal band from Essen. Their style of music is similar to that of their compatriots Destruction, Sodom and Tankard; along with those three bands, Kreator has been referred to as one of the "big four" of Teutonic thrash metal, and they are often credited with helping pioneer death metal and black metal by containing several elements of what was to become those genres.

You have to be really ignorant to put Kreator on this list.

Only real bad thrash band with Tankard in my opinion.

17 Testament Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band consists of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve DiGiorgio and drummer Gene Hoglan.
18 Lich King

The only band on here that actually sucks

19 D.R.I. D.R.I. is an American crossover thrash band that formed in Houston, Texas in 1982. As of 2015, the band comprises two of its founding members, vocalist Kurt Brecht and guitarist Spike Cassidy, as well as drummer Walter "Monsta" Ryan and bassist Harald Oimoen.

The only band that actually deserves to be on here. A prime example of how NOT to do Crossover Thrash

20 Exciter Exciter is a Canadian speed metal band from Ottawa, Ontario, formed in 1978 as Hell Razor. In 1980 they changed the name Exciter. They are widely considered to be one of the first speed metal bands and a seminal influence of the thrash metal genre.
21 Sodom Sodom is a German thrash metal band from Gelsenkirchen, formed in 1981. They have gone through many line-up changes, leaving bassist vocalist Tom Angelripper as the only constant member.
22 Venom Venom are an English extreme metal band formed in 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Coming to prominence towards the end of the new wave of British heavy metal, Venom's first two albums—Welcome to Hell and Black Metal—are considered a major influence on thrash metal and extreme metal in general.

Venom is Speed Metal. Like Exciter, they influenced Thrash with faster tempos and harsher vocals.

The worst musicians in metal hands down...

23 Tankard Tankard is a thrash metal band from Frankfurt am Main, Germany, founded in 1982. Along with the bands Kreator, Destruction and Sodom, Tankard is often considered one of the "The Big Teutonic Four" of Teutonic thrash metal.
24 Municipal Waste Municipal Waste is a crossover thrash band from Richmond, Virginia. They performed at the UK's Download Festival on June 15, 2008. They also joined At the Gates on their "Suicidal Final Tour" along with Darkest Hour, Toxic Holocaust and Repulsion.
25 Overkill Overkill is an American thrash metal band, formed in 1980 in New Jersey. They have gone through many line-up changes, with singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and bassist D.D.

What?! These guys are great! Literally the only Thrash Metal band that's still kicking ass today ever since it formed.
