Worst Types of Characters
The Top Ten
It was one of these kinds of characters that ruined Fairly Odd Parents - Spongehouse
Lol rey from star wars
Yes, so true. They never make mistakes and are always perfect. Many people like them, they look attractive, they always do things right, and they have no flaws. Real humans are not like that, not only are those characters unrealistic, but you cannot relate to them. People want characters to be relatable and realsitic.
I HATE THEM SO MUCH
They piss me off! - Spongehouse
In my story I have one equivalent to popular girl, but she has her own character development where she turns out to be really nice. - AnonymousChick
Usually a spoiled rich brat.
Especially when they're also secretly 'smart' or whatever.
Again, Kimba copied Babar so accusing the Lion King is hypocritical.
Why didn't Babar's creator sue Tezuka for copying the story and making it about a certain white lion but adding a bad ending to it?
Pinky maklinky is Gumball but stupid and instead of being a cat his an hotdog
May I remind you people that Kimba The White Lion stole a lot of it's plot from Babar King Of The Elephants? Too Bad for you Kimba fans, your precious white lion is not original!
No one likes these - Spongehouse
The whiny, cute tsundere
ew - Aquastar_of_DewClan
Zuri from The Lion Guard is one character I hate because of this. She whines and complains about even the most harmless things.
I am recently bullied at school
My story has a bully who was really evil but then I made her change into a better person. - AnonymousChick
I really hate these guys. I want to shove them down a hole so bad. - TwilightKitsune
I despise bullies! Aren't they ashamed of their actions? They ruined people's lives! - Goku02
GOD I hate these, though, in my story, I actually wrote one of these with a lot of depth. She's got her own sense of will and is extremely kind despite being extremely weak and moderately stupid. She tries to be helpful to the other characters and even falls into a crisis when she realizes how useless she really is. She's actually a lot more motivated and stronger than the male protagonist who keeps on saving her but just happens to be really helpless because of her "a stranger is a friend you haven't made yet" philosophy and how cruel I am to her.
So insulting - blackflower
Personally, I think that if they at least had a non annoying personality, they could be intersting. But that's my opinion and I'm an idiot.
Every female character in The Lion King/Guard that isn't an antagonist is this, at least once or more. Nala, Kiara, Zuri, Fuli and even Jasiri to name a few. Goes to show how horrible and anti-feminist the series really is.
Oh, like Kimba forcing the carnivores to go vegan even though that would kill them in real life, he should have gotten a worse fate in the magna and anime JUST FOR THAT ALONE!
I had so send one of my characters to jail after he killd someone. Story is getting boring without him, but, like, dude, you killed someone so you need to go to jail or else it would be unfair. - AnonymousChick
These annoy me a lot. - Oliveleaf
Blame Twilight for this. Ugh.
And now they SPARKLE because of stupid Twilight - Lunala
Ugh..I hate this so much
The are usually perverts whose only purpose in the story is to bite the girl for fanservice
The only vampire I'll ever like in a story is a story about My chemical romance. haha I hate vampires that are romantic and all that. - AnonymousChick
Like Jar Jar Binks.
That's Mr. Poe from A Series Of Unfortunate Events
*cough* Bunga from The Lion Guard *cough*
So agree on this one cause characters like these just SUCK.
Mr. Poe all the way. WHY HELLO BAIDELAIRES
But I like Romeo Juliet. - Ilovestephanie
It's not that bad really. My favourite anime couple - Jellal Fernandes x Erza Scarlet ( Fairy Tail ) - is an example of forbidden lovers and they're awesome! Furthermore, the most popular fictional couple in the world is arguably Romeo and Juliet, who are a pair of forbidden lovers. - Goku02
Yeah, I'm not a fan of most of them. - Oliveleaf
Forbidden lovers are interestings if they have more things going on in their lives and their relationship is not shallow - uoi
It is even worse if the character with no development is a huge fan favorite; It's like if they want every character to be that, regardless of what some view otherwise.
These characters are often kind of boring. I mean, they do not change throughout the whole series. They just stay the same. That makes a character flat out and plain boring.
It's worse when this is one o the main characters. - AnonymousChick
I don’t agree with this one. I do understand that most characters have to have some character development to work, characters without development can be very funny at times. Sure, they can’t have a big role, but just seeing them maybe once per episode or once per two episodes can be really funny. One great example of this is Creed Bratton from the office. I often find that it messes things up when they get a character who doesn’t need development and gives it to them. A great example of this would be The Earl of Lemongrab who was a really funny character, and starting the episode Too Old they gave them too much development to the point where it wasn’t funny anymore.
Hermione Granger is a know it all written greatly. But most of the times those characters are really annoying - uoi
Even the know it all has to mess up once in their life. It's boring when they never do. - AnonymousChick
Pretty much modern Lisa Simpson sums up everything wrong with the Know-It-All. She's controlling, arrogant, condescending and have a really uncomfortable obsession with being the best at everything
I always found Gabby from Gulliver's Travels to be ridiculously annoying, his voice sounded like if Alvin and the Chipmunks tried to rap, and can easily get into your nerves quickly. I hate both Pico the Woodworm from The Magic Voyage and Timon & Pumbaa from The Lion King with a burning passion, because both characters have inherited traits that made Gabby annoying and they turned them up to eleven. And don't get me started on Scrappy Doo...
Seriously, there are better sidekicks and comic-relief characters than these abominations.
Bunga from The Lion Guard is also very annoying and irritating.
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think that Happy ( Fairy Tail ) is the most annoying blue cat ever! - Goku02
Bratty teenager daughters are like little girls
Aleu from Balto II and (bleh) Kiara from The Lion King II are this. At least not all daughters are like that, thankfully.
Read this and the first one came to my mind is Sasuke LOL Also Zeref and Jellal ( sometimes ). But they're still my favourite characters in their respective shows : P - Goku02
Why even have them? - blackflower
Yeah, these kinds of characters are bland as heck. They're as bad as the ones with no development.
Actually, I was thinking that the hyenas in The Lion King are the top worst characters of this type, honestly. They are a defamation of their whole species and aren't funny at all.
The Jiggle Butt Gang! They are not funny at all, they are completely disgusting! - Goku02
Overdone - blackflower
Mufasa is this to Simba early in The Lion King when he forbid him from going to the place he wanted to go, and later Simba is this to his daughter Kiara. This is not how parents should treat their kids; Instead of forbidding them and sheltering them all the time, they should educate them the ways of life and how everything works, and help them understand. Not be like Simba/Mufasa by keeping them away from everything in sight.
Like Patrick from Gumball
Why so? They are not bad... - Goku02
Gamer kids aren't that bad, actually. You often don't see fictional characters playing video games as opposed to watching T.V. or reading a book. I still would love to see more gamers in fiction, but that maybe just me.
You mean Clue Club? Except for Dotty, of course.
Yeah, idiots tend to suck.
Timon and Pumbaa are probably one of my most hated comic reliefs in fiction next to the villainous hyena trio from the same film and Bunga from that film's spinoff, The Lion Guard.
First, Timon is very similar to Gabby from Gulliver's Travels (1939), such as being annoying, has anger issues at times, and even shares the same red-ish hair color. Heck, one would say that Timon has inherited all the traits that made Gabby annoying and turned them up to eleven. And man, I thought Gabby was pretty awful. Pumbaa, on the other hand, is stated to be the first character in the Disney animated canon to provide toilet humor, notably fart jokes. What?!
FART JOKES, IN THE SUPPOSED-TO-BE-FAMILY-FRIENDLY-AND-CONSERVATIVE-WORLD-OF-DISNEY?! That can't be possible. You have got to be kidding to me.
Not to mention that The Lion King is supposed to be all "epic" since it is based on both Hamlet and the Joseph/Moses stories from the Bible. Thus, toilet humor doesn't fit too well in a ...more
*cough*Mufasa is this to the whole hyena species*cough*
I know that some of them are funny, like Jakotsu as you said before, but the ones I cannot stand are the brooding ones found in the Kingdom Hearts series, like the Organization 13 or whatcha-call-them; These are terrible characters, yet their fans drool and fawn over them.
Not that bad. I like some of them. Yeah some are disgusting ( like Master Bob in Fairy Tail. Yuck! ), but some are really funny and lovable. Jakotsu from InuYasha is actually one of my favourite characters from that series, he's absolutly hilarious! - Goku02
I know, they can get annoying at times. Juvia is, but most of the time she's really funny and kind, and I love her! Sakura Haruno is total disaster though. - Goku02
Why blonde? Blonde girls aren't aclways dumb! Android #18 is actually one of the best anime girls, whilst Luna Lovegood is one of the smartest, kindest and loveliest characters in Harry Potter! The only dumb blonde I can think of for now is probably Misa Amane. - Goku02
Personally, I hate villains who share similarities with Karel from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. (i.e. being bloodthirsty, seeking worthy opponents, has a younger sister) Because of this trope, some fans mistaken Karel as a villain (when he isn't. The truth was that he was only an anti-hero when he was known as the Sword Demon before becoming the Sword Saint) and even put him in crossovers (such as Death Battles or even shipping) with villains from other series who share similarities. what?! It wouldn't be such a big deal if Karel wasn't so exaggerated by most of the fandom and they realize that he is an anti-hero, not a villain. If they realized, then all those awful fan crossovers that spam the Internet would never exist.
That annoying love interest that the main character and half of the cast dream all the story for no reason. - uoi
I get that complexity can be confusing and all, but this is just lazy and bland. If you're planning on creating any character of any kind, I personally think that the first thing you should think of is a personality. The character will be downright forgetable without an interesting personality, since all you'll see is the stuff I listed above. I personally reccomend starting with a minimum of six traits, half good, half flaws.
Ugh, if you can't write a mental disorder realistically, just don't it's not artistic vision, it's you being dumb.
Harry Potter, Goosebumps 2, Son of Bigfoot, Karate Kid, Spiderman, and It. Face it, all our superheroes these days used to be bullied kids in school. It would e nice to have a hero that didn't have to be bullied to be a hero.
You know, a character which we've forgotten about
because it doesn't get screen-time or doesn't even talk!
