Worst United States State Flags

The Top Ten
1 Mississippi Mississippi is a southern U.S. state with the Mississippi River to its west, the state of Alabama to its east, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south.

Ok I’m from Minnesota the most northerner you can get and can I just say why does it matter that the confederate flag is on here you people get offended by the tiniest of things the war is long gone the flag is apart of the states history and there is nothing they should be ashamed of

It's a historic flag of a piece in American history that is dark and offensive. Mississippi's flag reminds us all about it.

This flag is not racist the confederate flag is what you are confusing it with. by the way flags are not racist people are lol

It's just a little bit much. I can feel America radiating off of the screen. And that's just the colors!

2 Maryland Maryland is a state located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.

Wouldn't say "the worst" but 100% overrated. Tell me something more overrated than this eyesore of a flag. You can't.

Why is Maryland #2? I think their flag looks awesome.

Hold up this was ranked #1 on the Best Flags

3 Alabama Alabama is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west.

bad people but a good flag

Really welcoming flag.

4 Ohio Ohio is a state in the midwestern region of the United States. Ohio is the 34th largest by area, the 7th most populous, and the 10th most densely populated of the 50 United States.

If you think that the Ohio flag is worse than the Maryland flag, you better pray that I don't end up 5 km away from your location.

5 Florida

Its overdesigned

6 Massachusetts Massachusetts, officially the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is the most populous state in the New England part of the northeastern region of the United States.

Massachusetts has the worst flag! And it's the worst state!
By the way, the best US state flag is Maryland. So unique and distinctive.

I like this, I personally think Maryland has the worst flag in the history of the world.

That Native American just looks bored to be honest

I love here and I hate it. It looks too broad.

7 Indiana
8 Kansas Kansas is a U.S. state located in the Midwestern United States. It is named after the Kansa Native American tribe, which inhabited the area.
9 Kentucky Kentucky, officially the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is a state located in the east south-central region of the United States.

The Contenders
11 Louisiana

12 Virginia Virginia, officially the Commonwealth of Virginia, is a state located in the South Atlantic region of the United States.

The emblem shows someone standing of a dead body.

17 New Jersey New Jersey is a state in the northeastern and mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. It is bordered on the north and east by New York, on the southeast and south by the Atlantic Ocean, on the west by Pennsylvania, and on the southwest by Delaware.

This flag disturbs me. It looks like a horse was beheaded and its head was placed in a chalice filled with horse blood sting on top of beheading devices while two disappointed Roman goddesses are forced to stand next to the gruesome horse decapitation.

As a New Jerseyite, even I think the flag sucks. I can imagine the Founding Fathers looking at it and saying, "This is so messed up. Are you sure you want this as the official flag of the third state?" I mean, I can't describe what's going on. It looks like a paganistic ritual with false goddesses and animal heads.

Those two romans looks so bored

18 Colorado Colorado is a state in the United States encompassing most of the Southern Rocky Mountains as well as the northeastern portion of the Colorado Plateau and the western edge of the Great Plains.
19 Hawaii Hawaii is the 50th and most recent state of the United States of America, receiving statehood on August 21, 1959.

What is Great Britain's Flag doing here? Hawaii was once a colony of the Philippines.

Hawaiis flag is a mix of america, russias and britains because back when hawaii was independent they were afraid of theeir shipe being mistaken as hostiles so they deviesd a flag that would ensure that it woulndt happen

Why is the Union Jack on the flag even though they’ve never been controlled by Great Britain at any point in history?

20 Pennsylvania Pennsylvania, officially the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is a state located in the northern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.

24 Oklahoma
25 South Dakota

Okay I understand how Mississippi is first but South Dakota should definitely be second. The circle in the middle of the blue background is so unoriginal, there is writing everywhere, and the picture in the middle is so complex it’s hard to even make out what it is.

Generic seal-on-blue-bedsheet, like pretty much half of the state flags. Plus, that repetition of the state name is unforgivable.
