Top 10 Worst Video Game Developers

htoutlaws2012

The Top Ten

1 Electronic Arts Electronic Arts Electronic Arts, Inc., also known as EA Games, is an American developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games headquartered in Redwood City, California.

They don't make bad games but they make you pay for everything.

They have great games, but they are commonly ruined by DRM, forced DLC, unfinished and broken products.

Example: SimCity: the game had a feature where you always had to be online to play it, even if you weren't playing online. The problem was, on launch day, the servers weren't ready, so literally nobody could play it.

They don't listen to gamers who are playing and notice bugs, failures etc. Patches don't work or don't fix the major problems. Patience of gamers are being tested to the max.

Origin is the worst piece of crap platform in the history. always buggy, I spend month thinking it was my video editing suit which was buggy but in fact it was Origin blanking some thin part of the screen.

Each update brings more bugs and failures, like double screen issues, notifications problems... And it litterally brokes games like FIFA which don't allow Alt-tabbing and causing you to loose a game. unplayable. and guess what? who dev FIFA? EA!

Who, in the world can stand and defend the fact that the only solution u found to prevent Hacking is to punish regular customers by preventing them to use their computer in a normal way?!

This + all others bad releases/wastes like Sim City and many others stories makes no doubt this is the worst company of the industry.

i'm not a EA hater and I spend lot of time defending them back in days. but no more, they don't deserved it.

2 LJN LJN LJN Toys, Limited was an American toy company and video game publisher in operation from 1970 to 1995. It manufactured toy lines and released battery operated water guns and video games based on licensed properties from movies, television shows, and celebrities.

Angry Video Game ranks LJN the worst game developers ever. There poop.

If you're wondering what a certain infamous Rainbow Of Doom has to do with so many horrible video games no matter who made or published or developed or designed or programmed said games, you should check out the Angry Video Game Nerd's color-by-color breakdown of the unholy rainbow stamp of death brought to you by Laughing Joking Numbnuts. Let's face it, as the worst video game company ever, LJN is so bad it belongs on this list more than once!

3 Activision Activision Activision Publishing, Inc. is an American video game publisher. It was founded on October 1, 1979 and was the world's first independent developer and distributor of video games for gaming consoles.

Make a game and ship it out. If it's popular, make the game again and release it the following year. Then repeat the process until people are sick of it. That is only half of Activision in my opinion. It's bad enough that their flagship franchises are milked endlessly, but their decision making seals the deal for me.

They don't care about you, your problems with their games, and they don't care about even the quality of the games being made. All they want is a bottom line, and they know that people buy for the name alone. Outside of Call of Duty, their games range from mediocre to overmilked, all the way down to terrible. SpongeBob Heropants is a shining example of how not to make or publish a game, even for licensed gaming standards. They even ditched the Wii u and went with publishing for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which is bull. I have a Wii u, and if I haven't already vowed never to give these penguin suited bastards my money for ditching the Wii u, the only game I ...more

The genius behind the Call of Duty games was NOT due to Activision's money-grabbing bull! They rush the games they create and put no effort into creating what the fans want! MW2 was the last good game they published, and by the way, that was one of the best video games created! But when a game gets popular, they stop trying to make something great, and instead focus on making it look good so people will give them their money. Call of Duty Ghosts is a GREAT example of that! And MW3 was terrible, not as a Call of Duty game, but as Modern Warfare game. It was alright in comparison with every other Call of Duty game they created, but it was a downgrade of everything that made its predecessors great.

While Call of Duty ghosts had arguably one of the best, if not best story in any Call of Duty campaign, the multiplayer all but ruined the game for all the Call of Duty fans out there. Now, I'm a halo guy personally, but I love the Modern Warfare series! They did all those fans of ...more

Thanks to Activision's Greed.. They ruined destiny and most of their Call of Duty games.. Now Activision is turning almost 50% of every game they publish into DLC... And Destiny... Wow... After paying 90 bucks they want me to pay another 40 bucks for the next destiny dlc which would have already been in the game knowing that the House of wolves Dlc was premade since the start.. They just had to talk about the next DLC 1 month later.. Call of Duty will always be the same..

Activision. At one point Call of Duty was The greatest franchise ever. (Yes, better than Mario). But because we asked for a future game, we complained, but before we were complaining, they were already making bo3. We played it and said, Ok activision give us another one. Infinite Warfare. Bad Game, no. What we wanted, yes, but we didn't like it, so no. And apparently we're getting a WW2 game this year so Call of Duty will be the greatest again, I guess...

5 Zynga Zynga Zynga is an American provider of social video game services founded in July 2007 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States.

Seriously, are they even a gaming company? They steal games from other people, specially indie devs! Ugh, they are literally leaking with money, yet they need ideas from other people. Most of the time their games are usually littered with micro-transactions the literal bane of gaming. literally EA's little brother.

Worst ever gaming developer! They were the ones who introduced time-sync in their games and introduced trade between real cash and in-game currency as a way to earn money because they made their games slow as Hell.

I have been a fan of their games back in 2011, but their micro-transactions and game requesting system are the worst business practices on Earth!

They are the worst gaming company I have ever seen. I do not recomment their games to anybody

How the heck is Sega...SEGA higher than this abomination of a company? This should be in the top ten! Their games are awful, they're pointless, and they're cash cows. They don't care about you, they care about money. Candy Crush has 12,000,000 different types of micro transactions and aggravating business practices. They also tried to trademark the words "Candy" and "Saga" instead of trademarking the combo "Candy Crush". Instead, they got AWAY with trademarking the word candy and every game on the App Store with that word got TAKEN DOWN. - DCfnaf

Their games are pointless. There's nothing wrong with that. There's always time for a distraction. The problem is that they try to cash with the games by addicting people and then forcing them to buy. I had luck escaping...

They are a ver arrogant company, trying to play big fish, little fish with indy companies that are making games or made games that have nothing to do or were made before candy crush.

How is candy crush so popular? Somebody tell me how many levels there are because I need to know. People are in the THOUSANDS! - JMaster90x

7 Phoenix Phoenix

Terrible rip-offs that not even an Elementary School student would think of. I don't think even they know their own source material.

These people are probably the last people on earth that care about the gaming industry. People are just easily tricked into seeing otherwise.

Barry Hatter and the Sorcerer's Broomstick. Snow White and the Seven Clever Boys. Dalmatians 3. Must I say anymore?

Yet another poorly-disguised subsidiary of LJN...

9 Ubisoft Ubisoft Ubisoft Entertainment SA is a French multinational video game developer and publisher, headquartered in Rennes, France.

Ubisoft is without a doubt the worst company in the gaming business. They do all sorts of bull business practices like season passes, overpriced DLC, microtransactions, etc.. Also, remember Uplay? The online service that's trying its hardest to not compete with Steam and Origin. Ubisoft is also a master of milking franchises. They annually release Assassin's Creed games, and they all look the same. I'm willing to bet $500 dollars that Ubisoft will milk the Far Cry franchise as well. Far Cry 4 was basically Far Cry 3. Far Cry Primal also looks like another Far Cry 3. Remember when the Far Cry franchise had variety in every release? Far Cry 1, Far Cry 2, and Far Cry 3 looked and played completely different from each other. Well, now it has lost all its charm. Not only is Ubisoft doing bull business practices, they are also an incredibly lazy developer, as is evident with the annual releases that are basically the same thing different year. Ubisoft started those bull business practices ...more - TheMusicNerd

Have put out numerous games on Steam that just plain don't work (conflicts between Steam and Uplay) and they refuse to do anything about it. The one time I tried to do something about it I went to their forums and found thousands of other people with the same issue and the official response on the forums was always the same 'we can't help you on the forums, you need to open a support ticket.' So I did, and support responded about 2 weeks later saying that they could not help and for those issues I needed to post on the forums. I opened another support ticket explain that it was the forums that had told me I needed to go through them and they simply never responded. Upon reading up a little more I discovered that this was very normal for Ubisoft and at that point I decided to never buy their games again.

Makes a lot of buggy games that require a lot of computer power for graphics that aren't that impressive. Do I even have to tell about they making the same game over and over and just giving it different names? They're the most greedy company in this list, not to mention all its lies.

I've bought a fair share of Ubisoft games in the past couple years, but I believe I'm actually 100% done with buying anything they launch. I had such high hopes for For Honor, until I realized how poorly it was supported by the developers. There's still P2P connection on this game that is purely focused on fighting and button inputs in relation to another player, which is hard to do when the host migrates every other game and causes the game to crash. Not to mention all the microtransactions that Ubisoft tries implementing in everything. It's a shame.

10 Konami Konami

I used to love this company, until there is nothing else to love about it. They don't have the slightest respect for their developers. Once they outlive their usefulness they get reassigned to be a part of security guards, cleanup crew, factory workers. Lately, they realized that gamers care about the people who create their favorite games. So, they decided not to give people credit when it's earned. They want to keep the gifted ones at Kojima's level enslaved rather than watch them grow and gain fame. It's one thing to play with your fans emotions by turning their favorite games into an embarrassment like what happened with Castlevania which ended up being an erratic violence pachinko game. But to turn on the people who helped the company succeed and make their lives a living hell is just plain evil.

Arguably the most controversial at the moment, Konami's franchises have slowly been diminishing, to the point where their are petitions to give the franchise rights to over companies. Also, with the apparent mistreatment of employees, some have to call into question how long the company will last.

Aside from throwing away a game with so much potential that came from the greatest horror franchise of all time, all there needs to be said is that firing Kojima is possibly the worst business decision made by a video game company. They love digging their own grave don't they?

Konami should stop milking yugioh with those stupid anime, it's getting more and more ridiculous

12 Tiger Electronics Tiger Electronics Tiger Electronics is an American toy manufacturer, best known for its handheld LCD games, the Furby, Giga Pets, and the 2-XL robot product, and audio games such as Brain Warp.

Tiger is smart when it comes to selling, but all they make is outdated games, hell the games are digital watch technology. I still don't understand how they got to be a huge hit back at the 80's and 90's though, they were even outdated THEN. Somebody please explain to me how they got to be a huge hit and I will give you a back-rub, I guess.

There's one word that describes Tiger's games perfectly: Outdated. - lite64

Do they even count as games?

I think their games sucked, such as the Mega Man 2 game where you can run out of the Mega Buster. Not only that, but you use a gun instead of an arm cannon and there is no Crash Man or Wood Man anywhere. Tiger games have absolutely NO grasp of their source material. (Except Furbies of course)

20 Capcom Capcom ...read more.

Capcom used to be badass in the eighties and nineties, but they have fallen like Sega and Atari, but EVEN WORSE. Capcom is almost bankrupt ed now and there's a good reason, Capcom treats their fanbase badly, they didn't bring Mega man back even though almost all of their fans demanded for it, they have turned Resident Evil from a horror shooter to a mindless generic shooter, and they have been just milking Street Fighter for all it has, gee, I wonder why they are going bankrupt. - PinataonSugar

Oh boy... Where do I begin?... We started from having games that could be counted as "masterpieces", now most of those franchises are either dead or being treated like dog crap! They really need to step in their A-game... A lot!

No megaman, No resident evil, No castlevania, Making Street Fighter bad, and that comes to my conclusion: CAPCOM has died. Rest in piece CAPCOM. In the 19's you were good, but you dumped some franchises. So now, you can go downhill.

HOW IS THIS PUTRID COMPANY NOT AT THE TOP OF THIS LIST AFTER YEARS OF DEBACLE UPON DEBACLE?! From https(:)//www(.)theregister(.)co(.)uk/2016/09/23/capcom_street_fighter_v/, "Capcom's Street Fighter V for PCs includes a knock-out move: a secret rootkit that gives any installed application kernel-level privileges. This means any Malicious software on the system can poke a dodgy driver installed by SFV to completely take over the Windows machine."
