Top 10 Worst Video Game Developers

The Top Ten
Electronic Arts Electronic Arts, Inc., also known as EA Games, is an American developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games headquartered in Redwood City, California.

So here is my beef with big name developers. Over the last 10 or so years games keep getting easier and easier. Any console game I play I automatically have to put it on the hardest difficulty just to have somewhat of a challenge. My second point is that once an idea takes off these companies will keep pumping this stuff out and barely changing a thing (assassins creed? ) finally DLC is a thing, and the sad part is that we accept this as the norm. What happened to Expansion Packs? DLCs are the worst things to ever happen to the gaming industry, which is why I only stick to PC games and play games that are made by indie developers that still have a passion for what they do. This all stems back to EA because they were the ones that laid the foundation to single handily ruin the gaming industry.

These greedy fools are officially known as America's Worst Company of the Year, and won 'The Golden Poo' award in 2012. You'd think they would've learnt by then. Well it turns out, they haven't, as they won that award AGAIN the following year.

IGN tried to defend this company are pretty much stEAling their fans money, but that's to be expected from a reviewing site as IGNorant as them.

There's a bucket load of reasons that I could point out, but I assure you: they're easy to pick up on.

It's only a matter of time before they win it again, after all: 'Third time's the charm'.

EA had good games years ago, unfortunately, today they're selling garbage without content, their quality has gone down. They don't listen the gamers who suggest ideas. For example, I've enjoyed Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars, but finally they killed the franchise with the last game from tiberium saga and tiberium allianc es? P lease, it was the last backstab. Unfortunately, EA thinks only in the money. In my humble opinion, If they want to have a redemption and go forward, they should go back to the origin (not the platform) take that games when were good, creative and funny for gamers or at least revive the support for old games, I mean sims 1 for example or classic sim city and please don't use micro transactions, that's an offense.

Take every single BS move that other companies have tried and put it one company with the goal of doing it "better" and there you have EA. The truely sad part is that they own so many potentially great IPs that their lack of ambition to make something amazing ruins great ideas. Why take the time to improve/inovate something when updating the (pick 1) roster/maps/weapons/graphics will bring in the same money. Its almost like they don't have any pride in there work. And don't forget microtransactions. It is truely depressing when I buy an online multiplayer game and see people who are able to destroy the oppisition because the bought some $3 gun to start out. And lets not delude ourselves into thinking that we buy these games for anything other than multiplayer because their titles like dragon age are few and far between.

Stellar Stone Stellar Stone, LLC was a video game developer founded in 2000 and based in Santa Monica, California. The company developed games offshore in Russia and Ukraine, with a small staff and low budget.

Ugh don't get me started Big Rigs or that taxi game terrible.

They made big rigs over the road racing which is the crappiest game ever

They made big rigs over the road racing!

Unfinished garbage games.

Zynga Zynga is an American provider of social video game services founded in July 2007 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States.

Seriously, are they even a gaming company? They steal games from other people, specially indie devs! Ugh, they are literally leaking with money, yet they need ideas from other people. Most of the time their games are usually littered with micro-transactions the literal bane of gaming. literally EA's little brother.

Worst ever gaming developer! They were the ones who introduced time-sync in their games and introduced trade between real cash and in-game currency as a way to earn money because they made their games slow as Hell.

I have been a fan of their games back in 2011, but their micro-transactions and game requesting system are the worst business practices on Earth!

More idiots who listen to the community and side with developers trying TO GIVE YOU SOMETHING FOR SOMETHING BACK

King

How the heck is Sega...SEGA higher than this abomination of a company? This should be in the top ten! Their games are awful, they're pointless, and they're cash cows. They don't care about you, they care about money. Candy Crush has 12,000,000 different types of micro transactions and aggravating business practices. They also tried to trademark the words "Candy" and "Saga" instead of trademarking the combo "Candy Crush". Instead, they got AWAY with trademarking the word candy and every game on the App Store with that word got TAKEN DOWN.

Remake a good game from a great developer into a mediocre game and pretend it's not a rip-off, charge the game as "Freemium" and sue any developer who's game has a similar name (they sued for a game called Candy Land Saga that was written before Candy Crush Saga). Spend less then 10 million dollars developing said game and 400 million advertising it. Treat their employees bad enough that they are fed up with the industry as a whole and leave to write their own game. Yes, this is the company that drove Notch to write Mincraft. I guess we have that to thank them for.

Disgraceful company. All they do is take concepts which have already been done, clog it to hell with microtransactions and make the levels too hard in an effort to extort the people who play their games. Has King ever done something original? Let's see:

Candy Crush Saga: A blatant rip off of Candy Swipe, an independently developed game. Adam Ransom, you deserve better than this.
Pet Rescue Saga: I can't think of the game this rips off but it's concept has been done a million times before.
Papa Pear Saga: A blatant rip off of Peggle, made by Popcap, the same company that made Bejeweled Blitz, another game Candy Crush rips off.
Bubble Witch Saga: Not very well known that this game is a clone of a 1994 Japanese game Puzzle Bubble.

So there you have it, Money Crush Saga

Their games are pointless. There's nothing wrong with that. There's always time for a distraction. The problem is that they try to cash with the games by addicting people and then forcing them to buy. I had luck escaping...

Konami Konami Holdings Corporation is a Japanese entertainment company that formed in 1969. Konami does a high amount of distributing products such as slot machines and arcade games, anime, video games, and trading / game cards. Konami also

Silent hill is now a pachinko game and The newest castlevania was out only for Android and iOS. There hasn’t been a game of these 2 series since 2014. They might as well not be a Video game Company

I used to love this company, until there is nothing else to love about it. They don't have the slightest respect for their developers. Once they outlive their usefulness they get reassigned to be a part of security guards, cleanup crew, factory workers. Lately, they realized that gamers care about the people who create their favorite games. So, they decided not to give people credit when it's earned. They want to keep the gifted ones at Kojima's level enslaved rather than watch them grow and gain fame. It's one thing to play with your fans emotions by turning their favorite games into an embarrassment like what happened with Castlevania which ended up being an erratic violence pachinko game. But to turn on the people who helped the company succeed and make their lives a living hell is just plain evil.

Konami has no respect for itself, customers, or employees and doesn't deserve respect either. I made a decision a long time ago to boycott all its products. It is the most selfish and careless developer for me.
Life is short. If you like spending your free time playing video games, then why wasting time on playing games developed by this sewage when there is an above 95 % that you will regret spending time and money on a Konami game. Based on my experience with PES and Yugioh, it is the worst developer. And I am not even playing their free to play games because time is also valuable to waste.

They despise Nintendo and any developer associated with Nintendo. Getting Snake into Smash was Kojima’s idea. Since Kojima quit Konami, things are getting turbulent. There were disagreements between Sakurai and Konami, so getting Bomberman in was no easy task. Bomberman ended up being an assist trophy. Not all 3rd parties get along with Nintendo. Simon Belmont of Castlevania is reported to be playable in Smash Ultimate. This is uncertain because Vergeben the leaker can be wrong. 3rd parties give Sakurai and his crew a lot of stress because licensing is not an easy task. Some 3rd party developers can be jerks and stubborn when it comes to adding their characters into Smash.

Digital Homicide Digital Homicide Studios L.L.C. was an American video game developer based in Yuma, Arizona. It was founded on June 11, 2014 by brothers James and Robert Romine. The company has used multiple pseudonyms on their releases, including Imminent Uprising and ECC Games.

Suing other people for simply saying their games suck, attempting to bring down valve, having HORRIBLE games, suing people for a total of 18 MILLION DOLLARS... wow. EA is horrible, but Digital Homicide needs to be number 1. At least EA makes GOOD games every once in a while.

How is this not number 1? EA had at least good games like the good old NFS Most Wanted, LJN published a good spiderman game on snes, Activision published good games too, zynga sucks hard, but they don't attack valve and ubisoft is still a good company

Their like the "North Korea" of the game industry. Punish anyone who doesn't heil the great Digital Homicide.

...Which game company ever decide to sue critics saying their game sucks? This one.

Tiger Electronics Tiger Electronics is an American toy manufacturer, best known for its handheld LCD games, the Furby, Giga Pets, and the 2-XL robot product, and audio games such as Brain Warp.

Tiger is smart when it comes to selling, but all they make is outdated games, hell the games are digital watch technology. I still don't understand how they got to be a huge hit back at the 80's and 90's though, they were even outdated THEN. Somebody please explain to me how they got to be a huge hit and I will give you a back-rub, I guess.

There's one word that describes Tiger's games perfectly: Outdated.

Do they even count as games?

I think their games sucked, such as the Mega Man 2 game where you can run out of the Mega Buster. Not only that, but you use a gun instead of an arm cannon and there is no Crash Man or Wood Man anywhere. Tiger games have absolutely NO grasp of their source material. (Except Furbies of course)

Titus Software Titus Interactive SA, previously Titus France SA, was a long-running French software publisher that produced and published video games for various formats over its lifetime.

The worst French company ever, made the most memorable bad game of all time superman64 and later did robocop which was also terrible.

The PC games they did were decent... Even the Titus the Fox game with its crappy music.
The console games however... Sucked ass.

Aren't these the people who made superman game for nintendo 64

Don't get me started on superman64.

Phoenix

It's so bad it made the list twice

Made Dalmations 3 and Animal Soccer World, two sins sent to us by the devil.

It's so made, it made it to the top ten TWICE.

Cheapest games ever! This company needs to be number 1!

Accolade Accolade, Inc. was an American video game developer and publisher of the 1980s and 1990s. Headquartered in San Jose, California, it was founded in 1984 by Alan Miller and Bob Whitehead after leaving another game developer and publisher they had founded, Activision.

Bubsy 3D. Need I say more?

What could possibly go wrong?

Bubsy game and the 3d one that sucked - tranhotwheel04

They made Bubsy and Ballz, enough said!

The Contenders
Supercell Supercell is a mobile game development company founded in June 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. The company's debut game was Gunshine.net.

the games are decent, but the problem is their greed for more and more money. they are milking people's money in pretty clever ways

Recent updates for clash of clans really sucks. Clash royale has lousy servers. But they sometimes do the right things like banning cheaters but might anger most players whose use cheats before

Lately it just seems like they're trying to punish you for playing. Like how dare you not spend $50 weekly.

Lots of updates in Supercell's games have added many OVERPOWERED cards, for example in Clash Royale a few months ago they thought Ram Rider was not op... like what it's the most op card and everyone just pays for it then you lose because you’re trying to F2P but keep versing P2W

Capcom Capcom Co., Ltd., or Capcom, is a Japanese developer and publisher of video games, known for creating multi-million-selling franchises such as Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney, and Monster Hunter, as well as highly successful games based on the Disney animated properties. ...read more.

Almost every Mega Man game they made during 2010 and 2011 excepting Mega Man 10 got Thanos snapped out of existence. (Mega Man Universe, RIP.) But luckily, Capcom is finally starting to see the light by making Mega Man 11 in 2018. Hopefully they release Mega Man 12 in 2020, but with coronavirus raging, they may or may not release it, or delay it until 2021. Overall, Capcom is not a bad company, they just had a rocky history.

Capcom used to be badass in the eighties and nineties, but they have fallen like Sega and Atari, but EVEN WORSE. Capcom is almost bankrupt ed now and there's a good reason, Capcom treats their fanbase badly, they didn't bring Mega man back even though almost all of their fans demanded for it, they have turned Resident Evil from a horror shooter to a mindless generic shooter, and they have been just milking Street Fighter for all it has, gee, I wonder why they are going bankrupt.

Many reasons. Here's what they've done to their series:
They abandoned Mega Man.
They've ruined the Resident Evil series. Heck, even the guy who was behind the development said that 6 sucked.
They have thrown away Castlevania.
They are ruining the Street Fighter games with V by not adding an Arcade mode and a Vs mode. It was designed for their online 'Capcom Cup'.
Lastly, they have trashed the Devil May Cry games with an uneccessary reboot, which sucked horribly.

They invented a new form of 'DLC', which actually stands for 'Disk Locked Content', meaning you had to pay for dlc items that were already in the game.

There's more reasons why, but I think that this should cover on why Capcom is really going downhill, and fast.

No megaman, No resident evil, No castlevania, Making Street Fighter bad, and that comes to my conclusion: CAPCOM has died. Rest in piece CAPCOM. In the 19's you were good, but you dumped some franchises. So now, you can go downhill.

Ubisoft Ubisoft Entertainment SA is a French multinational video game developer and publisher, headquartered in Rennes, France.

Oh remember when the rabbids were invented, well it was their fault. Remember when they screwed Assasins creed, that's their fault. They even just made Crew, well R.I.P UBISOFT

Ubisoft is without a doubt the worst company in the gaming business. They do all sorts of bull business practices like season passes, overpriced DLC, microtransactions, etc.. Also, remember Uplay? The online service that's trying its hardest to not compete with Steam and Origin. Ubisoft is also a master of milking franchises. They annually release Assassin's Creed games, and they all look the same. I'm willing to bet $500 dollars that Ubisoft will milk the Far Cry franchise as well. Far Cry 4 was basically Far Cry 3. Far Cry Primal also looks like another Far Cry 3. Remember when the Far Cry franchise had variety in every release? Far Cry 1, Far Cry 2, and Far Cry 3 looked and played completely different from each other. Well, now it has lost all its charm. Not only is Ubisoft doing bull business practices, they are also an incredibly lazy developer, as is evident with the annual releases that are basically the same thing different year. Ubisoft started those bull business practices ...more

Have put out numerous games on Steam that just plain don't work (conflicts between Steam and Uplay) and they refuse to do anything about it. The one time I tried to do something about it I went to their forums and found thousands of other people with the same issue and the official response on the forums was always the same 'we can't help you on the forums, you need to open a support ticket.' So I did, and support responded about 2 weeks later saying that they could not help and for those issues I needed to post on the forums. I opened another support ticket explain that it was the forums that had told me I needed to go through them and they simply never responded. Upon reading up a little more I discovered that this was very normal for Ubisoft and at that point I decided to never buy their games again.

Uses the same formula for nearly all of their games. Despite being a "triple A" developer, they consistently release buggy games and produce a surprising amount of shovelware. They would rather make unimaginative and repetitive yearly releases than spend more time to create innovative and well polished games. They overhype their games and fail to deliver on promises often leaving gamers disappointed. Every time I see the Ubisoft logo before a new game trailer, it automatically makes me skeptical and unlikely to be interested in the game.

Acclaim Entertainment Acclaim Entertainment was an American video game developer and publisher. It developed, published, marketed and distributed interactive entertainment software for a variety of hardware platforms, including Mega Drive/Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, and Game Gear, Nintendo Entertainment System, Super NES, ...read more.

Come on now they made Mortal Kombat and the burnout series

Well, they did make Mortal Kombat and Burnout, but they also made some bad games too.

How they made #2 I have no idea. Did 4chan decide to raid this list or something?

Acclaim? Really? I didn't play much video games when I grew up, but when I did it was either Mortal Kombat or Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, EVERY TIME!
I must have played through Turok DH 15 times, and still enjoy it just as much.

Color Dreams Color Dreams is an American company formerly known for developing and publishing unlicensed video games for the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System.

Then they changed to Wisdom Tree and made those terrible bible games that The Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed. Bible games are terrible and have no point.

They're NES games were unlicensed and weird.

This company is very strange.

EA, Ubisoft, THQ, Sega, and Activision are above this? What is wrong with people.

Animation Magic

On the plus side, these guys provided excellent source material for YTPs.

Well the games were good for YTP. But they're still terrible games. A disgrace to Zelda.

The Cd-i games enough said

HM... I wonder what's for dinner?
This company sucks because of those crappy Zelda games on the CD-i.

Spike Chunsoft

*cough* Dangan Ronpa *cough*
Where you can't save in the middle of class trials that are an hour long or even longer. Literally the worst saving mechanic ever in gaming history. Just watch the anime if you want to go through it. The anime is miles better than the games.

Only thing I care about is those mystery dungeon games, tfw when they have deeper plot than main pokemon games

I have a major soft spot for Spike Chunsoft thanks to their work with Damganronpa and Fire Pro Wrestling Games I have a soft spot for but outside of those two there isn’t much in my taste

get this off lol. all their games are good except one punch man a hero nobody knows

Peta Games

True evil. These hypocrites made them crappy flash games nobody liked. And even worse. Now they are trying to ruin Animal Crossing for everyone. Put it in the top ten at least

Peta being peta tried to rip off meat boy by saying that the titular mascot of team meat was made of pig guts. But team meat fought back in a clever way. Peta made super tofu boy to fight it, but if you type "petaphile" on the character select, you can play as tofu boy himself! But he SUCKS. He has troubles even making it past the first level. Peta, just stop making games and stop killing animals but say that you keep them safe. What a bunch of dumb hypocrites. - astroshark

Wait a minute... PETA made a game? So they made a terrible licensed game named Kitten Squad. They also made inappropriate and porn satirical browser games, such as Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals, Pokémon Black and Blue, Mario Kills Tanooki and more.

PETA is known for killing 90% of it's sheltered animals. Their hypocrisy is ludacriously retarded. Especially that thing they did with "Cooking Mama". Nintendo should sue.

THQ THQ Inc. was an American video game developer and publisher. Founded in 1989, the company developed products for home video game consoles and handhelds, personal computers and mobile devices. Its name derived from "Toy Headquarters" during its time as a toy manufacturer in the early 1990s. In 2012, ...read more.

This should be here...at all comparing this to Ljn, Microsoft studios, Activision, and literally every other company on this list...this company dominates in good content but for some reason doesn't make good money.

This needs to get off right now. They made the best SpongeBob game and one of my favorite games ever, SpongeBob battle for bikini bottom. Get it off right now.

They only were completely terrible during the NES era. Afterwards they became a mixed bag where they made some good games and some bad.

It's on here because it ruined a great franchise in Red Faction with RF:A. A garbage game that was FAR worse than ANY of it's predecessors!

Atlus
Microsoft Studios Microsoft Studios is the video game production wing for Microsoft, responsible for the development and publishing of games for the Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Games for Windows, Steam, Windows Store, and Windows Phone platforms.

Bought greatest game company ever, Rare and made Rare into garbage

They destroyed Rare, they'll have have Rare develope Viva Piñata for DS but nothing released from the N64 days released on Wii Virtual Console or sequels of past games from the days of 64 on Nintendo's. consoles.

At least they offered free repairs on RROD on xbox 360 unlike *cough* Pony

You know the game rare replay well rare were going to put it on Wii u but since Microsoft own them they said make it exclusive to Xbox one I do not want it on any other console this is true this is why banjo kazzoie conkers bad fur day cannot be on virtual console Wii u or Wii and also why conker live and reloaded and banjo nuts and bolts is exclusive to Microsoft consoles screw Microsoft Nintendo should buy rare back

Epic Games

The worst gaming company ever. Not because of Fortnite but because the employees only care about money and would NOT STOP EMAILING ME!

I'm sorry, but HOW in the Mother Earth's name did we get from Gears of War to some more luck-based version of Team Fortress 2 known as FORTNITE? At least it isn't as bad as PUBG, gameplay-wise; the fanbase just offends the fans of PUBG despite what I said about the games alone.

It created Fortnite, an overrated, trashy game which copied 5 other games and stole people's emotes. It's taking over the world. Its ironic that it has the word epic in it.

Fortnite is basically copied! It copied PixelGun, Minecraft, Halo, and PUBG. It copied 4 games! It also used other's dance moves and took all the credit. Epic Games is doing illegal things!

Wisdom Tree Wisdom Tree is an American developer and publisher of Christian video games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, PC, Mac, and Sega Genesis, headquartered in Pima County, Tucson, Arizona, United States.

They are making fun of the bible and christian religion by creating weird games about the bible and make a lot of fusions of christian religion and video games. By doing that, they think they never get sued.

All games they made are either somewhat Bible games or there just ripoffs of good games (ex Wolfenstein 3D.)

What did the world's best-selling copyrighted book of all time do to deserve the LJN treatment, anyway... no, What's on second!

All hail the religious part of Color Dreams (another terrible developer)

Blizzard Blizzard was founded under the name Silicon & Synapse on February 8, 1991 by Michael Morhaime, Frank Pearce, and Allen Adham. They primarily made ports of other games for other studios until 1993, when they made Rock N Roll Racing and The Lost Vikings . In 1994, They became Chaos Studios, Then Blizzard ...read more.

Literally everything they work on gets expensive DLC somewhere along the line, and even their special anniversary or holiday events are just used as opportunities to sell even more needless items. I don't think I've ever known them to do a giveaway of free special event items - one of the few companies that's so greedy they wouldn't even consider it

They're such a big company now that they don't care about their players opinions and have basically made their biggest game a Facebook game.

Vote their sister company, Activision instead. Blizzard isn't horrible, but they never listen to there community

Two words "Diablo Immortals"

Fox Interactive

It's weird how I'm finding this company on the list; they published Croc.

Almost every simpsons games they made except for a few are bad. - htoutlaws2012
