Top 10 Worst Video Game Developers

The Top Ten
1 Electronic Arts Electronic Arts, Inc., also known as EA Games, is an American developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games headquartered in Redwood City, California.

Why is this here? It's a great company! I only know two games they made which is fifa 16and 18 (or it may be called something else) and it's awesome!

Anyone remember NFL Blitz on the n64? THAT, was a good sports game. Now, all you get are games from people like EA and 2K that give you nothing but slightly better graphics with an updated roster. And that crap is $60! Also, hello?...Mass Effect 3 ending, anyone? And don't even get me started on how EA rushes their employees to develop a game every year before the holiday deadline. Now, even if the graphics are better and the rosters are updated, almost nothing changes each year. And I know I'm giving a lot of crap to sports games, but seriously, what kind of gamer wants to throw a ball?! EA sports: It's in the game my a**. The only things in the game I see are glitchy gameplay, and $60 of my life wasted. Also, SO MUCH forced DLC! I mean seriously, EA gives you more DLC than The Last of Us. But that game was good, because Naughty Dog knows that it takes time to make a great game. Also, since EA has been making countless dollars off of stupid consumers, they have gone to buying out ...more

I encourage everyone who reads this to stop supporting companies like Activision/Blizzard, EA and the others AAA company. There are so many great independent studios that create games with passion and innovation that deserve this support. These flesh-eating ghouls think that the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia are a sufficient disguise to hide their true intentions.

Sure, these publishers may put out something approaching a decent game every now and then by working with a good studio but they'll use those profits to do more harm, so even supporting their non-flagrant games is negative in the long run. They are laughing at you all the way to the bank.

So here is my beef with big name developers. Over the last 10 or so years games keep getting easier and easier. Any console game I play I automatically have to put it on the hardest difficulty just to have somewhat of a challenge. My second point is that once an idea takes off these companies will keep pumping this stuff out and barely changing a thing (assassins creed? ) finally DLC is a thing, and the sad part is that we accept this as the norm. What happened to Expansion Packs? DLCs are the worst things to ever happen to the gaming industry, which is why I only stick to PC games and play games that are made by indie developers that still have a passion for what they do. This all stems back to EA because they were the ones that laid the foundation to single handily ruin the gaming industry.

2 Stellar Stone Stellar Stone, LLC was a video game developer founded in 2000 and based in Santa Monica, California. The company developed games offshore in Russia and Ukraine, with a small staff and low budget.

Ugh don't get me started Big Rigs or that taxi game terrible.

Makers of Big Rigs over the road racing, says everything.

They made big rigs over the road racing!

That racing game call big rigs.

3 Zynga Zynga is an American provider of social video game services founded in July 2007 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States.

Seriously, are they even a gaming company? They steal games from other people, specially indie devs! Ugh, they are literally leaking with money, yet they need ideas from other people. Most of the time their games are usually littered with micro-transactions the literal bane of gaming. literally EA's little brother.

Worst ever gaming developer! They were the ones who introduced time-sync in their games and introduced trade between real cash and in-game currency as a way to earn money because they made their games slow as Hell.

I have been a fan of their games back in 2011, but their micro-transactions and game requesting system are the worst business practices on Earth!

I HATE Zynga for ripping of Tiny Tower, one of my fave mobile games from the epic studio, NimbleBit. Screw Zynga, the money grabbers.

4 Konami Konami Holdings Corporation is a Japanese entertainment company that formed in 1969. Konami does a high amount of distributing products such as slot machines and arcade games, anime, video games, and trading / game cards. Konami also

I used to love this company, until there is nothing else to love about it. They don't have the slightest respect for their developers. Once they outlive their usefulness they get reassigned to be a part of security guards, cleanup crew, factory workers. Lately, they realized that gamers care about the people who create their favorite games. So, they decided not to give people credit when it's earned. They want to keep the gifted ones at Kojima's level enslaved rather than watch them grow and gain fame. It's one thing to play with your fans emotions by turning their favorite games into an embarrassment like what happened with Castlevania which ended up being an erratic violence pachinko game. But to turn on the people who helped the company succeed and make their lives a living hell is just plain evil.

They despise Nintendo and any developer associated with Nintendo. Getting Snake into Smash was Kojima's idea. Since Kojima quit Konami, things are getting turbulent. There were disagreements between Sakurai and Konami, so getting Bomberman in was no easy task. Bomberman ended up being an assist trophy. Not all 3rd parties get along with Nintendo. Simon Belmont of Castlevania is reported to be playable in Smash Ultimate. This is uncertain because Vergeben the leaker can be wrong. 3rd parties give Sakurai and his crew a lot of stress because licensing is not an easy task. Some 3rd party developers can be jerks and stubborn when it comes to adding their characters into Smash.

Konami has no respect for itself, customers, or employees and doesn't deserve respect either. I made a decision a long time ago to boycott all its products. It is the most selfish and careless developer for me.
Life is short. If you like spending your free time playing video games, then why wasting time on playing games developed by this sewage when there is an above 95 % that you will regret spending time and money on a Konami game. Based on my experience with PES and Yugioh, it is the worst developer. And I am not even playing their free to play games because time is also valuable to waste.

Like most of the publishers on this list they care only about one thing and that is easy money and they don't give a damn what their own developers think just look at how they are treating the metal gear franchise after they fired Kojima...They just thought to themselves what was popular a couple of years ago and went oh yes! Zombies of course! let's just make a game which relies on the fox engine a ram a bit of metal gear into it to make metal gear fans buy it only to be disappointed by the lack of fun gameplay.

And don't get me started on how they treat their own developers and how they limit their potential so that they possibly don't outgrow them? Simply put they are self centered *ssholes who care nothing about the people under them or the people that actually buy their crap games nowadays.

5 Digital Homicide Digital Homicide Studios L.L.C. was an American video game developer based in Yuma, Arizona. It was founded on June 11, 2014 by brothers James and Robert Romine. The company has used multiple pseudonyms on their releases, including Imminent Uprising and ECC Games.

How is this not number 1? EA had at least good games like the good old NFS Most Wanted, LJN published a good spiderman game on snes, Activision published good games too, zynga sucks hard, but they don't attack valve and ubisoft is still a good company

Suing other people for simply saying their games suck, attempting to bring down valve, having HORRIBLE games, suing people for a total of 18 MILLION DOLLARS... wow. EA is horrible, but Digital Homicide needs to be number 1. At least EA makes GOOD games every once in a while.

At least EA doesn't care if people give them bad reviews. And at least EA made great games. But Digital Homicide? Their games are TERRIBLE. Wait did I say terrible? I meant AMAZING else they'll sue me for 18 million dollars.

Their like the "North Korea" of the game industry. Punish anyone who doesn't heil the great Digital Homicide.

6 Tiger Electronics Tiger Electronics is an American toy manufacturer, best known for its handheld LCD games, the Furby, Giga Pets, and the 2-XL robot product, and audio games such as Brain Warp.

Tiger is smart when it comes to selling, but all they make is outdated games, hell the games are digital watch technology. I still don't understand how they got to be a huge hit back at the 80's and 90's though, they were even outdated THEN. Somebody please explain to me how they got to be a huge hit and I will give you a back-rub, I guess.

Remember the GameCom? A black and white portable video game system made by Tiger, it was its pathetic answer to Nintendos legendary game boy. And the R Zone? Red and Black games you play close to your eyes? Based off Nintendos Virtual Boy! Their wrist games made their other games look fun to play! Damn, I'm flabbergasted by how this Tiger isn't number one! Now the Tiger may be the largest feline, but Tiger Electronics certainly isn't the biggest video game company!

Definitely a terrible company. They use recycled beeping noises for most of games in the 80's and 70's. The graphics are more less than a slideshow of graphics. The only reason they are still around is they produce licensed shovelware games for dirt cheap to people still gullible to buy them for the youngest kids.

I think their games sucked, such as the Mega Man 2 game where you can run out of the Mega Buster. Not only that, but you use a gun instead of an arm cannon and there is no Crash Man or Wood Man anywhere. Tiger games have absolutely NO grasp of their source material. (Except Furbies of course)

7 Titus Software Titus Interactive SA, previously Titus France SA, was a long-running French software publisher that produced and published video games for various formats over its lifetime.

The worst French company ever, made the most memorable bad game of all time superman64 and later did robocop which was also terrible.

Don't get me started on superman64.

That's the logo of how satanic is.

8 Phoenix

Wait; is this a game company? Kinda... They make "games" that actually are movies with game content. Not like Space Ace, Night Trap or Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. NO! It's worse. It's s***!

Just only unplayable games that are absolutely horrible, because they colaborated with Dingo Pictures, which is responsable for those abominations for plagiarism at animated developers such as Disney.

These people are probably the last people on earth that care about the gaming industry. People are just easily tricked into seeing otherwise.

Terrible rip-offs that not even an Elementary School student would think of. I don't think even they know their own source material.

9 King

How the heck is Sega...SEGA higher than this abomination of a company? This should be in the top ten! Their games are awful, they're pointless, and they're cash cows. They don't care about you, they care about money. Candy Crush has 12,000,000 different types of micro transactions and aggravating business practices. They also tried to trademark the words "Candy" and "Saga" instead of trademarking the combo "Candy Crush". Instead, they got AWAY with trademarking the word candy and every game on the App Store with that word got TAKEN DOWN.

Disgraceful company. All they do is take concepts which have already been done, clog it to hell with microtransactions and make the levels too hard in an effort to extort the people who play their games. Has King ever done something original? Let's see:

Candy Crush Saga: A blatant rip off of Candy Swipe, an independently developed game. Adam Ransom, you deserve better than this.
Pet Rescue Saga: I can't think of the game this rips off but it's concept has been done a million times before.
Papa Pear Saga: A blatant rip off of Peggle, made by Popcap, the same company that made Bejeweled Blitz, another game Candy Crush rips off.
Bubble Witch Saga: Not very well known that this game is a clone of a 1994 Japanese game Puzzle Bubble.

So there you have it, Money Crush Saga

Remake a good game from a great developer into a mediocre game and pretend it's not a rip-off, charge the game as "Freemium" and sue any developer who's game has a similar name (they sued for a game called Candy Land Saga that was written before Candy Crush Saga). Spend less then 10 million dollars developing said game and 400 million advertising it. Treat their employees bad enough that they are fed up with the industry as a whole and leave to write their own game. Yes, this is the company that drove Notch to write Mincraft. I guess we have that to thank them for.

Their games are pointless. There's nothing wrong with that. There's always time for a distraction. The problem is that they try to cash with the games by addicting people and then forcing them to buy. I had luck escaping...

10 Accolade Accolade, Inc. was an American video game developer and publisher of the 1980s and 1990s. Headquartered in San Jose, California, it was founded in 1984 by Alan Miller and Bob Whitehead after leaving another game developer and publisher they had founded, Activision.

Their terrible mascot was a cat and they even made a cartoon! But some games wich are not based on Bubsy for Example is Test Drive, wich was a great Racing game series.

This company sucks, they almost killed the Morta Kombat franchise, but it shall be number 1, even worse than LJN.

Mix sonic fanfics with EA bottle it and release it in one game in 1996
what could possibly go wrong (EA)?

The Newcomers

? ILCA
? Sweet Baby Inc
The Contenders
11 Capcom Capcom Co., Ltd., or Capcom, is a Japanese developer and publisher of video games, known for creating multi-million-selling franchises such as Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney, and Monster Hunter, as well as highly successful games based on the Disney animated properties.

Many reasons. Here's what they've done to their series:
They abandoned Mega Man.
They've ruined the Resident Evil series. Heck, even the guy who was behind the development said that 6 sucked.
They have thrown away Castlevania.
They are ruining the Street Fighter games with V by not adding an Arcade mode and a Vs mode. It was designed for their online 'Capcom Cup'.
Lastly, they have trashed the Devil May Cry games with an uneccessary reboot, which sucked horribly.

They invented a new form of 'DLC', which actually stands for 'Disk Locked Content', meaning you had to pay for dlc items that were already in the game.

There's more reasons why, but I think that this should cover on why Capcom is really going downhill, and fast.

Capcom doesn't deserve to be mentioned here. Whoever posted this choice was obviously butthurt.

Sure they made some questionable mistakes but they never EVER made stupid cease and desisting fan games that Square Enix and SEGA are most definitely guilty of. Don't believe me? Street Fighter X Megaman!

Plus Capcom is getting better nowadays and is getting over its problems.

And all people should get over the Decapre debacle. I was glad that they choose her as a new character since she was the most intriguing of the dolls (don't care if she's a Cammy clone I would prefer her any day over another stupid shoto).

And Capcom overall is a decent company.

Capcom used to be badass in the eighties and nineties, but they have fallen like Sega and Atari, but EVEN WORSE. Capcom is almost bankrupt ed now and there's a good reason, Capcom treats their fanbase badly, they didn't bring Mega man back even though almost all of their fans demanded for it, they have turned Resident Evil from a horror shooter to a mindless generic shooter, and they have been just milking Street Fighter for all it has, gee, I wonder why they are going bankrupt.

Almost every Mega Man game they made during 2010 and 2011 excepting Mega Man 10 got Thanos snapped out of existence. (Mega Man Universe, RIP.) But luckily, Capcom is finally starting to see the light by making Mega Man 11 in 2018. Hopefully they release Mega Man 12 in 2020, but with coronavirus raging, they may or may not release it, or delay it until 2021. Overall, Capcom is not a bad company, they just had a rocky history.

12 Ubisoft Ubisoft Entertainment SA is a French multinational video game developer and publisher, headquartered in Rennes, France.

Uses the same formula for nearly all of their games. Despite being a "triple A" developer, they consistently release buggy games and produce a surprising amount of shovelware. They would rather make unimaginative and repetitive yearly releases than spend more time to create innovative and well polished games. They overhype their games and fail to deliver on promises often leaving gamers disappointed. Every time I see the Ubisoft logo before a new game trailer, it automatically makes me skeptical and unlikely to be interested in the game.

I've bought a fair share of Ubisoft games in the past couple years, but I believe I'm actually 100% done with buying anything they launch. I had such high hopes for For Honor, until I realized how poorly it was supported by the developers. There's still P2P connection on this game that is purely focused on fighting and button inputs in relation to another player, which is hard to do when the host migrates every other game and causes the game to crash. Not to mention all the microtransactions that Ubisoft tries implementing in everything. It's a shame.

UPlay is a terrible idea. Honestly, this extends to blizzard, EA and rockstar as well - using your own launcher for your own games is fine. But it shouldn't be a dependency for it if you buy it through Steam or another platform. If you play one of any of those companies' games on PC, you have to install the launcher, and use the launcher to play the game. It might as well not even be on Steam or Epic games launcher. UPlay causes terrible incompatibility issues, and makes games where all of the content is either copied from other games/itself or needs to be bought. Or ya know, both.

So much promise with game titles, amazing teaser trailers then to just be let down by bad preforming games that demand a high level PC. So much greed from the company with DLC's and micro transactions. Horrible... shameful... support for all game titles. No response from the devs or support team. Weeks for a reply on tech support. No updates as to why their Piece of UPLAY login system doesn't work globally. Forced to login to UPLAY just to play a single player game. I have had to walk away from UBISOFT before due to crappy support for not being able to play any of my games I purchased; now I'm back to attempt to play them and still they haven't fixed any of their problems and support is even worse then before. UBISOFT is be far the worst game company out there to date.

13 Acclaim Entertainment Acclaim Entertainment was an American video game developer and publisher. It developed, published, marketed and distributed interactive entertainment software for a variety of hardware platforms, including Mega Drive/Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, and Game Gear, Nintendo Entertainment System, Super NES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance, PlayStation and PlayStation 2, Xbox, personal computer systems and arcade games.

Acclaim? Really? I didn't play much video games when I grew up, but when I did it was either Mortal Kombat or Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, EVERY TIME!
I must have played through Turok DH 15 times, and still enjoy it just as much.

Well, they did make Mortal Kombat and Burnout, but they also made some bad games too.

They created Bubsy! That's a good reason to hate this company. Thank god it's gone.

How they made #2 I have no idea. Did 4chan decide to raid this list or something?

14 Color Dreams Color Dreams is an American company formerly known for developing and publishing unlicensed video games for the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System.

Then they changed to Wisdom Tree and made those terrible bible games that The Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed. Bible games are terrible and have no point.

EA, Ubisoft, THQ, Sega, and Activision are above this? What is wrong with people.

They're NES games were unlicensed and weird.

This company is very strange.

15 Spike Chunsoft

*cough* Dangan Ronpa *cough*
Where you can't save in the middle of class trials that are an hour long or even longer. Literally the worst saving mechanic ever in gaming history. Just watch the anime if you want to go through it. The anime is miles better than the games.

Only thing I care about is those mystery dungeon games, tfw when they have deeper plot than main pokemon games

16 THQ THQ Inc. was an American video game developer and publisher. Founded in 1989, the company developed products for home video game consoles and handhelds, personal computers and mobile devices. Its name derived from "Toy Headquarters" during its time as a toy manufacturer in the early 1990s. In 2012, they went bankrupt.

This should be here...at all comparing this to Ljn, Microsoft studios, Activision, and literally every other company on this list...this company dominates in good content but for some reason doesn't make good money.

This needs to get off right now. They made the best SpongeBob game and one of my favorite games ever, SpongeBob battle for bikini bottom. Get it off right now.

They only were completely terrible during the NES era. Afterwards they became a mixed bag where they made some good games and some bad.

It's on here because it ruined a great franchise in Red Faction with RF:A. A garbage game that was FAR worse than ANY of it's predecessors!

17 Atlus
18 Supercell Supercell is a mobile game development company founded in June 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. The company's debut game was Gunshine.net.

Lots of updates in Supercell's games have added many OVERPOWERED cards, for example in Clash Royale a few months ago they thought Ram Rider was not op... like what it's the most op card and everyone just pays for it then you lose because you're trying to F2P but keep versing P2W

They make worst pay-to-win games ever!
Clash Of Clans: Wait 2 years to upgrade tower OR you can pay to us!
Boom Beach: Nice rip-off of Battle Islands by 505 Games.
Hay Day: Again that stupid farmland game?
Clash Royale: Clickbait youtube videos and higher donation forcement, than COC.

Recent updates for clash of clans really sucks. Clash royale has lousy servers. But they sometimes do the right things like banning cheaters but might anger most players whose use cheats before

19 Animation Magic Specializing in animated content, Animation Magic is a production company that focuses on creating animated series, films, and commercials. The company uses both traditional and digital animation techniques to bring stories to life.

HM... I wonder what's for dinner?
This company sucks because of those crappy Zelda games on the CD-I.

Well the games were good for YTP. But they're still terrible games. A disgrace to Zelda.

On the plus side, these guys provided excellent source material for YTPs.

I heard anthorer company that made hotel Mario on cdi. Factor factory.

20 Microsoft Studios Microsoft Studios is the video game production wing for Microsoft, responsible for the development and publishing of games for the Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Games for Windows, Steam, Windows Store, and Windows Phone platforms.

Most of Xbox exclusive characters aren't memorable other than Master Chief and Arbiter. I respected Rare during N64 generation until Microsoft bought it. There hasn't been any good games by Rare recently. Now they are slowly fading into obscurity. Fable series are mostly meh. I prefer Halo's original trilogy than recent installments. I decided not to buy future Xbox consoles since the defective hardware that caused red circle of death on many Xbox 360s. I predict Xbox One will lose its competition with PlayStation and Nintendo Switch a couple decades later.

Microsoft did to Banjo Kazooie and Conker exactly what Activision did to Spyro and Crash. They took 2 amazing IPs and screwed them up with crappy sequels or just taking the IP just to have it. Microsoft hasn't done ANYTHING with Conker and it pisses me off. Ok they did a crappy port of the original Conker's Bad Fur Day for N64, but that doesn't count. Screw you Microsoft

They destroyed Rare, they'll have have Rare develope Viva PiƱata for DS but nothing released from the N64 days released on Wii Virtual Console or sequels of past games from the days of 64 on Nintendo's. consoles.

Greedy bastards.
They ban you after your membership runs out.
I reported hackers, then they reported me and I got BANNED!

21 Wisdom Tree Wisdom Tree is an American developer and publisher of Christian video games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, PC, Mac, and Sega Genesis, headquartered in Pima County, Tucson, Arizona, United States.

They are making fun of the bible and christian religion by creating weird games about the bible and make a lot of fusions of christian religion and video games. By doing that, they think they never get sued.

What did the world's best-selling copyrighted book of all time do to deserve the LJN treatment, anyway... no, What's on second!

Their games have bad graphics!

All hail the religious part of Color Dreams (another terrible developer)

22 Fox Interactive

It's weird how I'm finding this company on the list; they published Croc.

Almost every simpsons games they made except for a few are bad.

23 Mindscape

Another mix bag they made some good some awful.

24 Blizzard Blizzard was founded under the name Silicon & Synapse on February 8, 1991 by Michael Morhaime, Frank Pearce, and Allen Adham. They primarily made ports of other games for other studios until 1993, when they made Rock N Roll Racing and The Lost Vikings . In 1994, They became Chaos Studios, Then Blizzard Entertainment Inc. after being bought by Davidson & Associates. Then, they made their first big game, Warcraft: Orks & Humans, then proceeding to make other great games, like Diablo and Overwatch. Eventually, Activision bought 429 million shares from majority owner Vivendi, and created Activision Blizzard.

Doesn't care about its fans, its developers, or its content creators. I remember seeing Disguised Toast speaking about the blatant neglect towards him and other creators - they were asked to playtest something, and were expected to pay for their travel, pay for their hotel/housing during the event, pay for any transportation to/from the event, and expected to playtest with few breaks or anything. Overwatch is, at its base, a tf2 ripoff that is designed to bring in money.

Literally everything they work on gets expensive DLC somewhere along the line, and even their special anniversary or holiday events are just used as opportunities to sell even more needless items. I don't think I've ever known them to do a giveaway of free special event items - one of the few companies that's so greedy they wouldn't even consider it

I have so much to say about blizzard now that Activision bought them, but all I'm going to say is, Activision bought them.. that plus the horrible RNG algorithm they use in hearthstone and the money grabbing transaction methods they use.. makes me want to vote them in the top #5

They're such a big company now that they don't care about their players opinions and have basically made their biggest game a Facebook game.

25 2K Games 2K Games, Inc. is an American global developer, marketer, distributor and publisher of video games, like Borderlands, Civilization V, The Darkness, NBA 2K and more recently, WWE 2K.

Not for the NBA games but the WWE games recently with them are the same every year their turning into EA it seems like.

2K Games is not Japanese! It's American! I hate this logo! Nintendo wants 2K Games back! BioShock sucks! Borderlands suck! And that furry JRPG game Bouken no Nyaki sucks!

I hate this company. They made Nick Jr games.

Server runs 1 year 2 months, then you have to buy the new game - your save files and currency will get deleted --> you have no vote
