Worst Years for Summer Blockbuster Movies
GI Joe: the Rise of Cobra, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Rob Zombie's Halloween II, The Final Destination etc.
The Last Airbender, Sex and the City 2, Jonah Hex, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse etc.
2017 is a really weird year for film because It's combined with a lot of terrible and great releases. It's summer blockbuster season however had a lot of terrible releases such as Transformers: Age of Extinction, Dark Tower, The Emoji Movie, The Book of Henry, and The Mummy. We at least did had some great released movies in the summer of 2017 such as Baby Driver, Dunkirk, War for the Planet of the Apes, A Ghost Story, and The Big Stick.
As of August 4th, this is by far a very weak film year for summer. There are a lot of huge disappointments in this movie season such as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Dark Phoenix, The Dead Don't Die, and Men in Black International. There are also plenty of very uninteresting movies such as the Aladdin and The Lion King, in which I think they're easily a cash-grab in my opinion. Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home were very passable films though, but It really wasn't in the sense of a amazing movie or something.
The only two surprises that I had saw in the summer of 2019 are Toy Story 4 and Once Upon a time in Hollywood. I had heard that Midsommar, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, and The Farewell are strong film containers this year, but I hadn't seen them though because Midsommar didn't last that long for a theatrical run in a theater near me. The Last Black Man in San Francisco and The Farwell on the other hand are mainly available in Arthouse Theaters and ...more
I will drag Disney down to hell! They ruined Godzilla KOTM’s best moment! They stole money from Legendary! BLAME DISNEY!
Still kind of a disappointing summer though, but we at least had some really great films in the summer of 2018 such as Hereditary, Upgrade, Blindspotting, Sorry to Bother You, BlacKkKlansman, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and Eighth Grade.
