1 1968 - Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rush, Black Sabbath, Yes

The era of hard rock and heavy metal

2 1981 - Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax

Best year for thrash metal

3 1975 - Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Motörhead

The era of heavy metal

4 1965 - Pink Floyd, the Doors, Scorpions

Psychedelic rock and hard rock

5 1985 - Guns N' Roses, Radiohead, Dream Theater

For pure metal - Iced Earth (because Guns N' Roses and Radiohead aren't metal, DT is prog rock/metal).

Oh sorry, I forgot about Iced Earth.

6 1984 - Blind Guardian, Helloween, Annihilator, Soundgarden, Nuclear Assault, Sepultura, Yngwie Malmsteen
