Top 10 Books or Book Series That Should Be Made Into Movies

The Silmarillion - J. R. R. Tolkien

This epic book predates The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit books and sets up a history and ancestry for them.
So many great stories and so many great characters could be made into a long-running franchise of at least 10 movies.

The Tolkien family should stop crying over spilled Melk (sorry, couldn't help that) and make this thing while New Zealand is still on a roll.

3: Children of Húrin
4: The Fall of Gondolin
5: The War of Wrath
6: Pride of Ar-Pharazôn
This is by no means inclusive of the major movie subjects.

Bone - Jeff Smith

Heck yeah. I'd love for it to be made into a movie, maybe by the same creators of The Peanuts Movie or Captain Underpants movie. Just with some great animators, directors, or producers. Maybe Disney should take a look into it.

Green Eggs and Ham - Dr. Seuss

The other Dr. Seuss movies are awesome, and this book is AWESOME! I think they should make The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. I also think if they made The Island of the Blue Dolphins, Miranda Cosgrove would be the perfect actress because she looks a lot like the character in the book.

It's inevitable. Illumination is going to make it. I would've preferred a live-action one.

Agreed! And you could get both Johnny Depp and Jim Carrey to star!

Warriors series - Erin Hunter

I would prefer if Warriors were turned into an animated TV series rather than a movie. Then it could be adapted better without butchering the story and characters by trying to shove everything into a few movies. Each arc could be its own season, except maybe a lot of the filler from arcs 2, 3, and 4 could be removed, making them only seasons 2 and 3. I would also prefer if it were mostly 2D, like anime, rather than completely live-action. (I know that some anime uses 3D for dynamic moments, but it still isn't live-action, so Warriors could be like that.) It would just be easier to read the emotions of the characters if they were animated in 2D.

The Contender - Robert Lipsyte

Pendragon series - D. J. MacHale

I've read that series so many times, and I'm still not tired of it. However, I'm afraid they might mess it up if they decide to turn it into a movie. Sometimes, when they adapt a good series into a movie, it can turn out terrible. But since D.J. MacHale produces TV shows and knows what he's doing, it would be good if he could help out. So if the series does make it to the big screen, D.J. should definitely be involved.

Holy crap, would this ever make a great film! And D.J. MacHale also worked on shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Flight 29 Down. Pendragon would definitely be 5-star.

Forest Born - Shannon Hale

Forest girl Rin always had the trees for company. But one day, they turn away from her and grow silent. Not feeling she belongs anymore, she goes to the city. But an unknown person is threatening the royal family, and Rin and her friends are in for a nasty surprise. This is the sequel to River Secrets.

Ideally, an animated Disney movie with the peaceful style of Winnie the Pooh.

Ideally, a Disney live-action movie in the style of Incredible Journey or Old Yeller.

Seconds Away - Harlan Coben

Golden Boy - Tara Sullivan

In Tanzania, Habo is born with white skin, yellow hair, and pale blue eyes - an albino. He already feels left out at home, but when his family moves, he realizes there are people who kill albinos to use their body parts as talismans. Habo has to flee for his life, hunted by a ruthless killer.

Fox in Socks - Dr. Seuss

Dragonriders of Pern series - Anne McCaffrey

This would make for an awesome series of movies that I think would be even better than Lord of the Rings.

Stargirl - Jerry Spinelli

One of my favorite books of all time. This is realistic fiction set in Arizona, so it should be relatively easy to pull off. But what will make it good is the clever plotline that will make you laugh so hard you get stitches and will move you to tears. The character the novel is named after, Stargirl, will be the most vivid character you will ever read in your lifetime.

This book was awesome! I had to read it in class, which I don't often like, but I enjoyed this one.

I love this book, and I think it would make a great film. It spreads a good message: being unique is beautiful.

A Song of Ice and Fire series - George R. R. Martin

By George R. R. Martin. These would be fantastic films.

Curse of the Spider King - Christopher Hopper and Wayne Thomas Batson

Frantic - Katherine Howell

Very interesting and intriguing story. It could have been a great thriller/mystery. The main female character has a very cool and desperate personality. I like her.

Awesome crime novel that just unfolds in front of you exactly like a movie! I can't believe it hasn't been made into one already. Her other books are just as good, too.

Frantic would make a great movie. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and would love to see it on the screen.

The 7th Victim - Alan Jacobson

A very interesting, intriguing, and even shocking book. The ending blew me away. I didn't expect it.

There was already a movie made in 1935, but it sucked and is due for a remake. Great part of the Divine Comedy series.

I think this could be a good movie. I thought the book was relatively enjoyable.
