Top Ten Romance Novels of All Time
Which is the best romance novel that was ever written?
Stick with this book. It starts out slow, but you will be rewarded with characters you will love at the end. Unlike most romance novels where you can see where it is headed, Diana Gabaldon has an amazing ability to create new and exciting plots that will keep you thinking.
One of my all-time favorites. I think I'm still in love a little with Jamie after all this time. Definitely a must-read!
Love this novel. I bought the first one and then continued reading the entire series. I can't wait for the next book. Definitely worth reading.

Only a heart of metal won't melt after reading this masterpiece. It makes everyone cry. It made me burst into tears! A huge salute to Sir Green!
This was my first complete read...and I must say...this is the best!

The best ever. Really touching. A story that you can never forget.
I have never read a more emotionally enthralling book before!
Number one for me. The best romantic love story.

My favorite romance ever! I have read it at least six times. It makes me smile every time.
Delightfully romantic! It makes you laugh out loud. I am in love with Garwood's characters!
This book always leaves me with a big smile on my face. I have read this book so many times but still find it refreshing. This book has all the ingredients of the best romance. I wish today's romantic book authors could write books like this.

I've read this book at least six times. I think all the other books listed here have a basis in this book. Certainly, Jane lived in a time where she herself didn't have the advantages these great authors did in reading other great works. She was a genius in character behavior and romance.
The first romantic novel introduced me to the world of romantic novels and made me realize how beautiful this world is. I really have a great deal of appreciation for Jane Austen for such great work.
The novel is an example of what a true artist can achieve with ever so little! Jane herself said that two or three families in a country village is a very good thing to work on. Likewise, we find that here, too, like in the rest of her novels, she has turned her limitations to the greatest possible advantage!

The Newcomers

I think it's the best romance book I ever read, next to Paradise by Judith McNaught. I couldn't stop thinking about Colin, and my tears were pretty unstoppable in many places. Trust me, it's a must-read book for all the romance lovers out there. I am judging from the hundreds of romance novels I have read. I can't believe that thinking about the book still makes my heart contract.
I was literally sobbing at the conclusion of this novel. It touched something so deep within my psyche that to this day, I both abhor and exalt the idea of a soulmate. I have never read it since but truly cherish the memory of reading it, as it is one of the top three greatest romantic novels of all time.

One of my all-time favorites! I absolutely love Phoebe! It Had to Be You is the first in the Chicago Stars series, which I have also loved so far!
I wasn't expecting to, but it was a surprise how much I love the novel and the connected series!

I was expecting this to be a lot lower for some reason, I guess because I don't hear too many people talk about it. However, I'm pleased it is actually in the top 10, where it deserves to be. It truly is the most beautiful, heart-wrenching romance story I've ever read. If you want an empowering read of pure, innocent love, then I highly recommend this one. The movie is just as good.
This book's pages will become wet with your tears! Truly a masterpiece. "I believe miracles can happen." This book itself is one!
I've been reading this book for 10 days and I can't stop. I love its story.

Best romance novel ever - and I have read tons, but nothing has ever come near this wonderful book. It is a modern take on the Beauty and the Beast story, where the hero, due to his troubled past, thinks that no one is capable of loving him. Then comes our feisty heroine who turns his world upside down. A must-read!
Loved this book! It kept me captivated from beginning to end. It never got boring, and it just kept getting better with each page. As soon as I finished it, I read it again!
Yes, best romance ever! The characters, dialogue, and story make you want to follow them anywhere! It has stood the test of time and is still a romance among romances!

Intriguing. It will take you into a different world where you may get lost and never want to return!
Every time I read it, it feels like I'm reading it for the first time.
Such an amazing novel. I just love Bella and Edward!

Some of the first romances I read and still the best. These are keepers, and I have reread them many times among other great authors. These characters will stick with you after you read the last page.
Anything by Linda Howard is perfection, but the McKenzies will stay with you long after reading any of their novels. Also, the fact that they personify sexy doesn't hurt either.
One of my favorite authors and series. You can't go wrong with LH!

The best book by LaVyrle Spencer by far is Bittersweet and Family Blessings. And don't forget November of the Heart. All are lovely.
I have all her books. I love them. I would like to find someone who writes just like her. I read a lot but can't find books as good as hers.
I love anything LaVyrle wrote, but Morning Glory and Twice Loved are my favorites.

Great novel and sadly very realistic regarding real crime events.

A Kingdom of Dreams is a wonderful book. I wish Judith McNaught could write more books like this one. Her old books are better than her new ones. The problem with her new books is that the hero and heroine hardly spend time together, so they do not connect enough.
Love Judith McNaught. Kingdom of Dreams is a journey. Great story and beautifully written. I read it three times over the years.
Another one of my all-time favorite authors. I have all her books!

It's my favorite novel of all time, and it should be number one on this list. I appreciate that Jane Eyre is not merely a romance novel. The romance is a plot device to uphold the deeper themes of feminist ideals such as autonomy, independence, morality, and self-respect.
While Mr. Rochester is indeed swoon-worthy with his dark, brooding, yet charming personality, there's more to Jane's personality and life than him alone.
Best love story ever, true love, passionate. It tackles themes such as redemption, abuse, bigamy, loss, and rejection. A work of genius by a genius.
