Top 10 Ideas for Brand New TV Shows on Disney Plus

As much as I enjoy revisiting classic Disney content, I find myself thinking what could spark my excitement for upcoming projects on Disney Plus. This reflection led me to some ideas that I believe could truly enhance the platform's offerings.

The Top Ten
  1. Gargoyles Live-Action Adaptation

With today's technological advancements, a live-action adaptation of Gargoyles has the potential to be truly remarkable. One intriguing idea is to introduce a sister for David Xanatos, who has a daughter from a fleeting encounter with an unknown man. As the story progresses, it could be revealed, much to everyone's surprise, including the father's, that he is actually King Oberon.

Another interesting idea I have is that when Demona and Macbeth forged their pact and exchanged their life essences, Demona became magically pregnant with their child. This daughter, however, is abandoned by Demona, a moment witnessed by two young sisters who then take her in and raise her as their little sister. I believe these plot additions would enrich the narrative and create fresh dynamics among the established characters.

  2. Spider-Man ‘98

Spider-Man, also known as Spider-Man: The Animated Series, is an American animated television series. It is based on the Marvel Comics character and originally aired on Fox Kids from 1994 to 1998. The show followed the adventures of Peter Parker as he balanced life as a college student and superhero... read more

With the success of X-Men '97, it's the perfect moment for Spider-Man '98 to return. The original '90s Spider-Man series concluded on a cliffhanger, and the recent finale of X-Men '97 even featured Peter and Mary Jane in one of its final scenes, hinting at an exciting continuation for fans.

  3. Zootopia TV Series

I appreciate that there is a Zootopia+ series focusing on the film's side characters, but I would much prefer a show centered on Nick and Judy as they tackle various cases together. With Zootopia 2 now holding the record as the highest-grossing animated film in Hollywood history, it feels like the perfect time to explore their dynamic further in a dedicated series.

  4. Inside Out TV Series

A TV series seems like the perfect choice for exploring Riley's teenage years and the complex emotions that come with them. This format allows for a deeper dive into her adolescence, providing ample opportunity to examine her emotional struggles and growth in a more subtle way.

  5. Darkwing Duck Remake or Revival

I've heard that a new TV series is in development, and there are two intriguing possibilities. One option is that it could be a spin-off from the recent DuckTales series, particularly inspired by season 3, episode 12, "Let's Get Dangerous!" I really hope the writers focus on deepening the father-daughter bond between Darkwing Duck and Gosalyn as the show progresses. Additionally, I believe Morgana, originally a villain, has the potential to evolve into a complex character as her relationship with Darkwing develops.

The second possibility is that the series might serve as a revival, continuing the story after the original, similar to The Dark Knight Returns. This version would feature an older Darkwing Duck alongside Gosalyn, exploring his return to vigilantism after a long retirement. This premise adds an exciting dimension to his character and promises to delve into the challenges he faces in reclaiming his former life.

  6. The Incredibles TV Series

Envisioning a TV series set after the events of Incredibles 2, the Parr family fully embraces their roles as superheroes, dedicated to safeguarding Metroville from formidable super-villains while striving to maintain a semblance of normalcy in their personal lives. It would be intriguing if Syndrome had somehow survived the first film, perhaps by activating a force field just in time to shield himself from the propeller. This twist could lead to a storyline where he has been recuperating in the shadows, now fixated on Violet Parr, adding a layer of tension and excitement to the family's ongoing adventures.

  7. Frozen TV Series

While I enjoyed the original Frozen film, I wasn't particularly fond of the sequel. However, a TV series could address some of the shortcomings of the second movie. This series would follow Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven on an adventure to uncover the mystery surrounding the fate of Elsa and Anna's parents.

  8. Adventures of the Gummi Bears Remake

A modern remake of The Gummi Bears, similar to Disney's successful revival of DuckTales, would be an exciting venture, particularly with a strong storyline and character arcs. Introducing Duke Sigmund Igthorn's daughter, Olivia, could add an intriguing layer to the narrative. Despite her father's villainous nature, Olivia shares a deep bond with him, and he returns her affection. Her sarcastic and cynical perspective contrasts with her unexpected fondness for the ogres, who became her protectors after saving her life during Duke Igthorn's exile from Dunwyn, a turning point that allowed him to take over Castle Drekmore. Previously close to Princess Calla, Olivia now finds herself in a fierce rivalry with her, enriching the plot with emotional complexity.

  9. TaleSpin Spin-off Don Karnage

A spin-off for TaleSpin that I envision would focus on Don Karnage and his crew of air pirates. The series would kick off with them firmly positioned as villains, but soon after, a significant event would occur that transforms them into antiheroes. I find Don Karnage's fiery temper and oversized ego to be incredibly entertaining, making him a captivating character to explore further.

  10. Recess TV Series Revival

Recess is an American animated television series created by Paul Germain and Joe Ansolabehere. It was produced by Walt Disney Television Animation and originally aired from 1997 to 2001. I believe it would be fantastic to have two additional seasons that continue the story from where the TV show Recess concluded. The first season could focus on the adventures and challenges of the characters in 5th grade, while the final season would showcase their experiences in 6th grade, where they truly take charge of the school.
