Top 10 Funniest TV Shows of All Time

The Top Ten
South Park South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central television network. The show is about four boys, who are Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick, and their adventures in South Park, Colorado.

South Park is most definitely the wittiest show to have come from the past millennium. It is basically the perfect balance of sleaze, social satire, politics, shock value interwoven with purpose, and a surprisingly heart-warming charm for a show whose reputation was basically built on political incorrectness and anarchism. It even features pretty interesting characters.

My favorite characters are Cartman, Kyle, Butters, Kenny, Randy Marsh, Mr. Garrison, and Mr. Mackey. They all have big and dynamic personalities and make the show worth watching.

All in all, this is a show you have to watch if you love to laugh at something funny. You are going to die of laughter. Even the non-satirical episodes are pretty damn hilarious.

Seasons 4-19 are gold. Seasons 1-3 and 20 are okay, meaning a bit subpar considering the high standards of this show.

The Simpsons The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening that originally started on April 19, 1987 as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show. It got its own series on December 17, 1989 and is still running as of 2023, making it the longest running animated sitcom. It is about a man named Homer... read more

Family Guy is pretty funny, but after three episodes, it got boring, and I stopped watching.

The Simpsons never gets boring. I've watched 14 hours straight and only stopped because it was three in the morning, and I needed to sleep. All that time, and I still wanted to watch more.

It's a miracle, the humor of this show. I don't know how to describe it. Be it realistic, satirical, comically relieving, or just downright FUNNY.

This show is the best one out there. My 6-year-old brother started watching, and my parents didn't like it. But then, after watching just one episode, my dad decided that this was too good to be hidden from our children, even if they don't get the humor.

Basically, it is a blessing for the entire family when you see "The Simpsons" on the list of recordings.

Family Guy sucks. As for South Park, round people are weird. Yellow people are better!

I spent 5 minutes of my time writing this review because I wanted to make the world a better place. Now it's your turn... WATCH THE SIMPSONS!

Family Guy Family Guy is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Griffins, a family consisting of parents Peter (Fat, Idiotic Dad) and Lois (Nagging Bitchy Wife), their children Meg (Socially Awkward Daughter) Chris (Fat, Idiotic... read more

Many people say this show takes jokes way too far or it's too offensive, but if you are offended by it, don't watch it! This is the most hilarious cartoon I've ever seen, hands down (with South Park being second, Looney Tunes third, Gravity Falls fourth, and The Simpsons fifth).

Even though this show has run for 18 seasons, it still makes me laugh as hard as ever, with Impractical Jokers being the only show that cracks me up more.

Okay, when I searched this up, I was hoping for Family Guy to be in first place. I've known about South Park for years now, but I hardly ever watch any episodes. I mean, Family Guy is the best Seth MacFarlane show ever. Every time I watch an episode, I feel like laughing as hard as possible. Also, Seth MacFarlane is the best cartoonist ever!

I love how Family Guy has all these random episodes. At my school, my friends and I were outside, and we all took a vote to see what everyone's favorite was, and Family Guy won. Also, my favorite character is Stewie.

SpongeBob SquarePants SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator the late Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. It is currently the most popular animated television show on Nickelodeon and is world-renowned by children and adults alike due to its humor, high-quality... read more

Most kids' shows are silly, but this one is so funny! Even adults can enjoy this show, making it fun for the whole family.

I love Patrick because he's so adorable, cute, funny, dumb but smart when he wants to be, and just has a good spirit.

Umm, dude, just so you know, it has hidden dirtiness, but I love it anyway. I'm nine, so of course, I vote for this, but it deserves it! Maybe not to you, but to me, it is!

Seinfeld Four single friends -- comic Jerry Seinfeld, bungling George Costanza, frustrated working gal Elaine Benes and eccentric neighbor Cosmo Kramer -- deal with the absurdities of everyday life in New York City.

Oh man, I recorded the episodes on VHS when it was on TV in Croatia, 1997-99. To me, this is the best show of all time, and I was so sad when Jerry said that the show is over.

I think they would be the best even nowadays. Nobody beats them. Nobody.

Seinfeld is a show you could talk about the next day or week and still laugh at the situations. Most shows you can't do that with.

We have watched each episode at least 10 times.

Hands down the best comedy show since Jackie Gleason and The Honeymooners. If Kramer doesn't get you laughing hysterically, you're not my kind of person.

The Office (US) The Office is an American television comedy series that aired on NBC from March 24, 2005 to May 16, 2013.

Who doesn't like this show? Come on! I've already finished the series four times now, and I still quote random lines to random people. I STILL think this show is so funny.

The UK version did start the US version, but the US version is better. And anyways, the US version doesn't talk about inflatable penises and crap.

The Office is a perfect mix of comedy, romance, story, and friendship.

But of course, where Steve Carell is involved, the most important element is comedy.

Although it is very overrated and overhyped, it's a pretty hilarious show.

Literally, every episode has me laughing hysterically.

The Big Bang Theory The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom serve as executive producers on the series, along with Steven Molaro, and also some wasted guest stars from time to time.

I really adore this show so much! I watch it every day because it is so funny. My friends and I love this show, and I like the characters. They are extremely hilarious.

I think it should be number 1. It has lots of different things that happen, and I like how people are so entertaining. It is about a group of nerds who try to survive and carry on with their lives. They all try to get girlfriends, and many other things happen in this extremely funny sitcom.

It should at least beat SpongeBob SquarePants.

I LOVE The Big Bang Theory. Howard's personality really sold it for me. I also really like Sheldon, Penny, and Raj (and everyone else has their moments as well).

This show really shows the inside of "geeks" and socially awkward people with a comedic twist. The jokes are extremely funny as well as educational. All in all, this should be #1 hands down.

Impractical Jokers Impractical Jokers is an American hidden camera reality series that premiered on TruTV on December 15, 2011, and is produced by NorthSouth Productions.

I can't believe this is not number 1. Everything is funny about this show, and I emphasize "everything"! What makes this stand out from all other shows on TV is how "genuinely funny" it is. They are not faking their laughs, "AKA Sal." Nothing will ever beat this show, in my opinion, because even when I'm having a really bad day, this show always finds a way to get me to laugh and feel better.

In the moment when I watch this show, I completely forget why my day was bad. That's why this show cannot and will not ever be beaten, in my opinion, of course. I will forever be a huge fan of this show.

Friends Friends is an American television sitcom, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, which originally aired on NBC from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004, lasting ten seasons. It now airs on Nick at Nite... read more

I LOVE Friends! Every episode makes me laugh and/or cry. Even 23 years later, Friends is a classic! So, so funny and so, so good.

The characters are good people without being obnoxious and are hilarious without being over the top. It has a perfect blend of comedy and tenderness that makes it perfect!

I can watch every episode a thousand times and still laugh yet again. To be honest, it is difficult to get me to laugh, but man, the six of these nail it every damn time!

Friends combines the funny facts with charm and quality humor. It is not just a funny show, but it also has many typologies (every actor has something special).

Saturday Night Live Saturday Night Live is an American late-night live television variety show created by Lorne Michaels and developed by Dick Ebersol.

I'm absolutely in love with the earlier seasons of the show (1975-1980). It really set the tone for American satire on TV and launched the careers of so many incredible people like Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, and many more.

To this day, it's still more relevant than ever and the main source of satire in America. Sure, the most recent seasons can't compete with the first ones (at least in my opinion), but the show is still standing.

I was exposed to the show at a young age and I didn't get it, but now as I'm older, it's one of, if not the, funniest shows on TV.

The Newcomers

? Big Mouth Big Mouth is an American adult animated sitcom created by Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett featuring teens based on Kroll and Goldberg's upbringing in Westchester County, New York, with Kroll voicing his fictional self.
? Breaking Bad Breaking Bad is an American crime drama television series created and produced by Vince Gilligan. The show originally aired on the AMC network for five seasons, from January 20, 2008, to September 29, 2013.
The Contenders
Beavis and Butthead

This show is hilarious and fun for ages 13 and over. The only major controversy is that a mom blamed this show for her son burning her house down and killing her daughter. If asked about it, I would say, "Are you drunk?"

An MTV classic for me. I knew about them when I was a kid! I loved watching the Do America movie, even at a young age. That's how cool it was!

This really should be in the top 20. This show was a major influence on South Park and makes things that wouldn't seem funny, funny as hell.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is an American sitcom that first premiered on FX on August 4, 2005 and has since moved to FXX beginning with the ninth season.

Comedy genius. This show has the most sociopathic characters in all of TV and uses them to the advantage of the plot. It is so wonderfully written and perfectly paced.

Every episode, I leave laughing at the immorality of the Gang. The fact that Sunny is so low proves its cult status.

P.S. The Big Bang Theory is so high up because what type of people do you think use this website?

Always Sunny in Philadelphia should be at the top. The show is way funnier than The Simpsons or Family Guy because it just is in a way.

Dennis is my favorite because he is a sociopathic narcissist, and that is just hilarious! He always thinks he is superior, even though he isn't, or that everyone is against him, though they aren't.

Arrested Development Arrested Development is an American television sitcom created by Mitchell Hurwitz, which originally aired on Fox for three seasons from November 2, 2003 to February 10, 2006, followed by a two-season revival on Netflix from May 26, 2013 to March 15, 2019. The show follows the Bluths, a formerly wealthy... read more

Absolutely hilarious. The Simpsons is my favorite show, but this is the funniest show. So many jokes go over your head the first time, and rewatching, you catch a new one every time.

Simply amazing.

Absolutely hilarious! It has a very high laughs-per-minute ratio, if you pay attention to the (partly very subtle) jokes!

So the guy in the $5,300 suit is supposed to explain why AD is the funniest TV show of all time? COME ON!

Tom and Jerry Tom and Jerry is an American animated series of comedy short films created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Best known for its 161 theatrical short films by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the series centers on a rivalry between the title characters Tom, a cat, and Jerry, a mouse. Many shorts also... read more

Before I saw SpongeBob, this was the eggnog of animation for me as a kid. I would drink it all the time, and it never gets old. It's an old school and relevant classic.

SpongeBob (Seasons 1-3) was like a field trip to me.

Tom and Jerry is a classic. It was funny when I was 3, and it's still funny now. It's called timeless comedy. It never gets old and is an old school and relevant classic.

They're pretending that they're enemies, but they're friends because if Tom's owner sees him not hunting Jerry, she will get a new cat that will want to kill Jerry.

Archer
Futurama Futurama is an American animated science fiction sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company.

This is basically The Simpsons set in space. One of my favorite cartoons of all time.

It's kind of funny at times, but I mostly find it enjoyable.

Underrated cartoon comedy, with characters that are revolutionary in story and humor! A true gem!

Both clever, humorous, and emotional. How could this amazing show not be the best?

Mr. Bean The title character, played by Rowan Atkinson, is a childish buffoon who brings various unusual schemes and contrivances to everyday tasks. He lives alone at the address of Flat 2, 12 Arbour Road, Highbury, and is almost always seen in his trademark tweed jacket and a skinny red tie. He also usually... read more

I used to watch Mr. Bean all the time when I was young with my family, so it holds a special place in my heart. I have watched all the episodes and even the movies a million times, and I'll watch them a million times more. I laugh every single time.

My favorite episode is Episode 10, Mind the Baby. Rowan Atkinson did a great job. He can make you laugh without even saying anything. This is the funniest show ever and deserves to be number 1.

I remember watching this in my childhood. It was a very funny TV show and a truly iconic classic.

Mr. Bean's antics always make me chuckle.

The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (also known as Billy & Mandy) is an American animated television series created by Maxwell Atoms for Cartoon Network, and is the 14th of the network's Cartoon Cartoons (albeit namely when it was part of Grim & Evil; the show is considered separate from Cartoon Cartoons... read more

I can't stop laughing at what this trio does.

Animaniacs Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs is an American animated comedy television series produced by Amblin Television label in collaboration with Warner Bros.

This cartoon does make me laugh. I'm happy that I have the full series (including Wakko's Wish). The characters are the funniest things in the world.

Yakko is my favorite character.

I love the style of '90s Warner Bros. humor of cartoonish satire and action altogether. I really like Yakko. He's my favorite character next to Dr. Scratchansniff.

Very few people remember this show. It's a brilliant show!

Watch the hilarious reboot on Hulu.

Monty Python's Flying Circus

Probably 30% of every laugh I've had in my life has been because of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Looney Tunes Looney Tunes is an American animated series of comedy short films produced by Warner Bros. from 1930 to 1969 during the golden age of American animation, alongside its sister series Merrie Melodies.

The funniest classic of all time. I still love Looney Tunes. The characters are just so hilarious and witty, especially Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny.

Watched it again recently and I forgot how funny this is. The voice acting is top-notch.

The way Porky Pig laughs always gets me.

This should be number one. South Park is funny, but Looney Tunes is a lot funnier.

Whose Line is it Anyway?

This show is so hilarious, GSN is bringing it back to life in the form of Drew Carey's Improv-a-Ganza. The best part, most of the original comedians from that show will be on it!

Whose Line brought improvisational comedy to the mainstream audience, and no other show will do it as well.

Brilliant humor and scenes that make you cry from laughing so hard.

Genius ideas and brilliant acting bring humor to new heights!

Such a funny show that has humor for everyone and never fails to make people laugh.

Also, the fact that it's all improvised makes it funnier.
