Top Ten Funniest TV Shows

The Top Ten
1 South Park South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central television network. The show is about four boys, who are Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick, and their adventures in South Park, Colorado.

South Park is most definitely the wittiest show to have come from the past millennium. It is basically the perfect balance of sleaze, social satire, politics, shock value interwound with purpose, and a surprisingly heart-warming charm for a show whose reputation was basically built on political incorrectness and anarchism. It even features pretty interesting characters. My favorite characters are Cartman, Kyle, Butters, Kenny, Randy Marsh, Mr. Garrison, and Mr. Mackey. They all are carved with big and dynamic personalities and make the show worth watching.
All in all, this is a show you have to watch if you love to laugh at something funny. You are going to die of laughter. Even the non-satirical episodes are pretty damn hilarious. Seasons 4-19 are gold. (Seasons 1-3 and 20 are okay meaning a bit sub par considering the high standards of this show).

For one, this show is extremely funny. But what it makes it unique from other shows is that it is making fun of society's flaws. It is like George Orwell's Animal Farm. While Family Guy kind of does that, South Park takes it further by showing the reaction of the innocent (the kids). Not only is the social satire perfect, but it is rated MA, which means they are less restricted than Family Guy. So they basically can go all out when making fun of society, and have a damn good laugh while doing so. Truly perfect.

Even if South Park went downhill ever since season 19, this still remains one of my favourite television programs of all time. It's hilarious, clever, funny and knows how to do gross out adult humour done right. The characters are funny and the humour is satirical comedy gold.

Please remove Family Guy. South Park takes the cake. Never has a television show been able to make me laugh so hard so often. South Park is also just an incredible show in general. Can't wait for the next season!

2 The Simpsons The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening that originally started on April 19, 1987 as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show. It got its own series on December 17, 1989 and is still running as of 2023, making it the longest running animated sitcom. It is about a man named Homer Simpson and his family (wife Marge and children Bart, Lisa and Maggie and pets, Snowball II and Santa's Little Helper) going through a long series of misadventures.

Family guy is pretty funny. But after three episodes it got boring and I stopped watching.

The Simpsons never gets boring. I've watched 14 hours straight and only stopped because it was three in the morning and I needed to sleep. All that time, and I still wanted to watch more.

It's a miracle, the humour of this show. I don't know how to describe it; be it realistic, satirical, comically relieving or just downright FUNNY.

This show is the best one out there. My 6 year-old brother started watching and my parents didn't like it. But then, after watching just one episode, my dad decided that this was too good to be hidden from our children, even if they don't get the humour.

Basically, it is a blessing for the entire family when you see "The simpsons" on the list of recordings.

Family guy sucks, as for south park, round people are weird. Yellow people are better!

I spent 5 minutes of my time writing this review because I wanted to make the world ...more

This show is absolutely hilarious, but it also has a lot of hidden (and not so hidden) references to classic plays, movies, and books. There are also a ton of hilarious cameos from famous actors and celebrities that even appear as themselves.

The first few seasons are AMAZINGLY AMAZING. Great stories, satire, deep characters, yellow people. Unfortunately it has devolved into a long, slow, slog of a show with 1d characters, lackluster writing, too many celebrity voice stars, and a suck up to pop culture. It's time has long since past. Don't die this embarrassingly, go now before things get worse.

Homer Simpson made me love The Simpsons because he is just so funny. This show is funny, clever, witty and enjoyable to watch. Sure it became more stale over time but it's still a funny and iconic classic.

3 SpongeBob Squarepants SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator the late Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. SpongeBob is currently the most popular show on Nickelodeon, as well as the longest running show, running for 23 years, and is beginning its 13th season. The show revolves around a sea sponge called SpongeBob SquarePants and his adventures under the sea. The show is considered to be one of the best Nickelodeon and cartoon shows of all time.

Most kids shows are silly, but this one is so funny! Even adults can enjoy this show, fun for the whole family.

I love Patrick because he's so adorable, cute, funny, dumb but smart when he wants to be, and just has a good spirit.

Ummm Dude just so you know it has hidden dirtyness but I love it anyway, I'm nine so of course I vote this but it deserves it! Maybe not to you but to me it is!

Some of the episodes are funny, like Pizza Delivery (that's probably the wrong name) and Band Geeks.

4 Family Guy Family Guy is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Griffins, a family consisting of parents Peter (Fat, Idiotic Dad) and Lois (Nagging Bitchy Wife), their children Meg (Socially Awkward Daughter) Chris (Fat, Idiotic more.

Many people say this show takes jokes way too far or it's too offensive, but if you are offended by it, don't watch it! This is the most hilarious cartoon I've ever seen, hands down (with South Park being second, Looney Tunes being third, Gravity Falls being fourth and The Simpsons being fifth). Even though this show has run for 18 seasons, it still makes me laugh as hard as ever, with Impractical Jokers the only show that cracks me up more.

Okay when I searched this up I was hoping for Family Guy to be in first place. Because I knew South Park for years now but I hardly even watch any episodes at all. I mean Family Guy is the best Seth Green show ever I mean every time I watch an episode I feel like laughing as hard as possible. Also Seth Green is the best cartoonist ever! I love how Family Guy has all these random episodes and at my school me and a my friends were outside and we all were taking vote seeing what favorite does everybody like and Family Guy won also my favorite character is Stewie.

Believe it or not, (no body gives a damn if you don't) I have watched South Park, Simpsons, Family Guy and Futurama, all four of these which are voted four of the most awesome and popular as well as funny sit com, all being adult sit com. But you know south park is the best of all, second maycome either 3 of the left, maybe simpsons, then family guy and fourth would be futurama

This show is the definition of fun and laughter. With its crazy stories and lovable characters it makes clear sense but shouldn't! With sex and violence combined this is a show for the all and is the best on T.V. rite now!

5 The Office (American Version) The Office is an American television comedy series that aired on NBC from March 24, 2005 to May 16, 2013.

Who doesn't like this show. Come on I've already finished the series 4 times now and I still quote random lines to random people and I STILL think this show is so funny. The U.K version did start the U.S version too, but The U.S version is better. And anyways the U.S version doesn't talk about inflatable penises and crap.

The office is a perfect mix of comedy, romance, story, and friendship. But of course, where Steve Carrel is involved, the most important is comedy.

Although it is very overrated and overhyped, it's a pretty hilarious show. Literally every episode has me laughing hysterically.

Really funny. Michael trying to be funny is just hilarious, Jim pranking Dwight is always funny, the whole show is amazing.

6 The Big Bang Theory The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom serve as executive producers on the series, along with Steven Molaro, and also some wasted guest stars from time to time.

I really adore this show so much! I watch it everyday because it is so funny! Me and my friends love this show and I like the characters. They are extremely hilarious. I think it should be number 1. It has lots of different things that happen and I like how people are so entertaining. It is about a group of nerds who try to survive and carry on with their lives. They all try to get girlfriends and many other things happen in this extremely funny sitcom.
It should at least beat spongebob squarepants.

Howard's personality really sold it for me
I also really like Sheldon, Penny, and Raj (and everyone else has their moments as well)
This show really shows the inside of "geeks" and socially awkward people with a comedic twist.
The jokes are extremely funny as well as educational and all in all, this should be #1 hands down.

I only saw TWO episodes, but it was the funniest thing I've ever watched! I don't really have much time to watch it know that school has started, but I will start watching all of them on Netflix soon.

TBBT is amazing. I don't think I've ever watched an episode without a chuckle escaping from my mouth, and I have deep respect for Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon.

7 Seinfeld Four single friends -- comic Jerry Seinfeld, bungling George Costanza, frustrated working gal Elaine Benes and eccentric neighbor Cosmo Kramer -- deal with the absurdities of everyday life in New York City.

Oh man, I recorded the episodes on the VHS when it was on T.V. in Croatia, 1997-99. To me, this is the best show of all time, and I was so sad when Jerry said that the show is over. I think they would be the best even nowadays. Nobody beats them... Nobody.

Sienfield is a show you could talk about the next day or week and still laugh at the situations. Most you can't do that. We have watched each episode at least 10 times.

Hands down best comedy show since Jackie Gleson and the honeymooners. If Kramer doesn't get you laughing hysterically you not my kinda person

Seinfeld got beat by the Big Bang theory? Are you kidding me?

8 Impractical Jokers Impractical Jokers is an American hidden camera reality series that premiered on TruTV on December 15, 2011, and is produced by NorthSouth Productions.

I can't believe this is not #1 everything is funny about this show and I emphasize "everything"! What makes this stand out from all other shows on T.V. is how "Genuinely Funny" it is, they are not faking their laughs "AKA Sal". Nothing will "Ever" beat this show in my opinion, because even when I'm having really bad day, this show "Always" finds a way to get me to laugh and feel better, in the moment when I watch this show is completely forget why my day was bad. That's why this show can not and will not be ever beat In my opinion of course. I will forever be a huge fan of this show.

Guys, this has to be THE funniest show of all time. There is no show that I recommend to my friends more than this one. It's unbelievably funny. If you like to laugh your *ss off for 20-30 minutes straight, then this is the show for you. Every single episode is hilarious, there aren't any unfunny episodes like the other shows on this list. No. Every single one is hysterical. The interesting part is that this show is unscripted. It's just pure genuine laughs and dialogue from four lifelong friends who compete to embarrass each other :) If you haven't seen this show then you're missing out!

Funniest show EVER.
It is very unique.
I have never seen an episode that didn't make me laugh my butt off.
The intro is funny: "WARNING: This show contains scenes of graphic stupidity among four lifelong friends who compete to embarrass each other."
My favorite of the four guys is either Q or Murr.
The only downside to this show is that it's not on all day.
It's sad that it's not a very popular show. I bet 99.9 percent of people who see this find it the funniest show ever. You NEED to watch it. You haven't lived until you have seen it.

This should be at the top this is probably the best T.V.. Show out there who made this list? The person was a genius for putting impractical jokers on the list but also obviously has bad brain damage for not putting this as the first one! Sorry but it's true you guys don't have to agree but I have my opinions and if you got something negative to say about it than talk to the hand holding up the middle finger! I'm just kidding I'm a prankster ok peace out!

9 Friends Friends is an American television sitcom, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, which originally aired on NBC from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004, lasting ten seasons. It now airs on Nick at Nite. The story is primarily about 6 individuals (Ross [David Schwimmer], and his sister, Monica [Courtney Cox], Joey and Chandler [Matt LeBlanc and Matt Perry], who are best friends, Jennifer [Rachel Green], and Phoebe [Lisa Kudrow]. The characters constantly get into situations and love affairs and such in the plot.

I LOVE Friends! Every episode makes me laugh and/or cry. Even 23 years later, Friends is a classic! So, so funny and so, so, good. The characters are good people without being obnoxious and the characters are hilarious without being over the top. It has a perfect blend of comedy and tenderness that makes it perfect!

I can see every episode a thousand times, and still laugh yet again, and to be honest, it is difficult to get me to laugh, but man, the six of these nail it every damn time!

Friends combine the funny facts with the charm and the quality humour. It is not a funny show, but it also has many typologies (every actor has something special).

Chandler bing makes this show worthy of number 1 place. Only american sitcom that is actually funny, but that may just be cause I'm Aussie. Friends for the win!

10 Saturday Night Live Saturday Night Live is an American late-night live television variety show created by Lorne Michaels and developed by Dick Ebersol.

I'm absolutely in love with the earlier seasons of the show (1975-1980). It really set the tone for American satire on T.V. and it launched the careers of so many incredible people like Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and many more. To this day, it's still more relevant than ever and the main source of satire in America. Sure, the most recent seasons can't compete to the first ones (at least in my opinion) but the show is still standing.

I was exposed to the show at a young age and I didn't get it but now as I'm older it's one of - if not the funniest shows on T.V..

Ah, this. One show for everyone ten and up that's actually good.

All time classic, never gets old.

The Contenders
11 It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is an American sitcom that first premiered on FX on August 4, 2005 and has since moved to FXX beginning with the ninth season.

Comedy Genius. This show has the most sociopathic characters in all of T.V. and uses them to the advantage of the plot. It is so wonderfully written and perfectly paced. Every episode, I leave laughing at the immorality of the Gang. The fact that Sunny is so low proves it's cult status.

P.S. The Big Bang Theory is so high up because what type of people do you think use this website?

Always sunny in philadelphia should be at the top. The show is way funnier than the simpsons or family guy because it just is in a way and Dennis is my favorite because he is a sociopathic, narcissist and that is just hilarious! Like he always thinks he is superior even though he isn't or that everyone is against him though they aren't.

Why is it this far down?! It's hilarious! Charlie's, awkward threats along with franks dishonest and lowdown workings are what make it awesome.

Five star show. Anyone who dosn't like it is a savage idiot! It hasn't even begun to peak, and when it does, everyone will feel it. It is the Golden God of T.V..

12 Archer
13 Arrested Development Arrested Development is an American television sitcom created by Mitchell Hurwitz, which originally aired on Fox for three seasons from November 2, 2003 to February 10, 2006, followed by a two-season revival on Netflix from May 26, 2013 to March 15, 2019. The show follows the Bluths, a formerly wealthy more.

Absolutely hilarious, Simpsons is my favorite show, but this the funniest show. So many jokes that go over your head the first time, and rewatching you catch a new one every time. Simply amazing

Absolutely hilarious! Has a very high laughs per minute ratio, if you pay attention to the (partly very subtle) jokes!

So the guy in the $5,300 suit is supposed to explain why AD is the funniest T.V. show of all time? COME ON!

It's the Story of a family, and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together.

14 Tom and Jerry Tom and Jerry is an American animated series of comedy short films created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Best known for its 161 theatrical short films by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the series centers on a rivalry between the title characters Tom, a cat, and Jerry, a mouse. Many shorts also feature several recurring characters.

Before I saw SpongeBob, this was the eggnog of animation for me as an kid, I would drink it all the time & it never gets old, It's an old school & relevant classic. SpongeBob (Season 1-3) was like an field trip to me.

Tom and Jerry is a classic it was funny when I was 3 it's still funny now. It's called timeless comedy. It never gets old and is a old school and relevant classic.

I love THIS SHOW! P.S. Especially when Tom captures Jerry, but sadly, he always escapes. I guess that's so that the show could go on.

Ok, the slapstic in this show is pretty funny, but it got really repetitive and cruel as the show went on.

15 Drake & Josh Drake & Josh is an American television sitcom created by Dan Schneider for Nickelodeon. The series follows the lives of two teenage boys with opposite personalities, Drake Parker (Drake Bell) and Josh Nichols (Josh Peck), who become stepbrothers. Both actors previously appeared in The Amanda Show along with Nancy Sullivan, who plays Drake and Megan's mother in the series. 16 Futurama Futurama is an American animated science fiction sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company.

This is basically The Simpsons set in Space. One of my favourite cartoons of all time. Its kind of funny at times but I mostly find it enjoyable.

Underrated cartoon comedy, with characters that are revolutionary in story and humour! A true gem!

Both clever, humorous and emotional. How could this amazing show not be the best?

Like the Simpsons, I love the humor but I also like the science material that was adapted from that science episode with Homer

17 Ed, Edd n Eddy Ed, Edd n Eddy is a Canadian-American animated comedy television series created by Danny Antonucci for Cartoon Network, and the sixth of the network's Cartoon Cartoons. The series revolves around three preteen boys: Ed, Edd "Double D," and Eddy—collectively known as "the Eds"—who live in a suburban more.

I can't stop laughing at what this trio does.

C is for cash and that's fine with eddy, America's funniest eds are right back on Cartoon Network

18 Animaniacs Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs is an American animated comedy television series produced by Amblin Television label in collaboration with Warner Bros.

This cartoon does make me laugh. I'm happy that I have the full series (including Wakko's Wish). The characters are the most funniest things in the world. Yakko is my favorite character.

I love the style of 90s Warner Bros's humor of cartoonish satire & action altogether. I really like Yakko, he's my favorite character next to Dr. Scratchansniff.

Very few people remember this show. It's a brilliant show! Watch the hilarious reboot on Hulu.

This cartoon makes me laugh more than anything on TV as if today.

19 Rocko's Modern Life Rocko's Modern Life is an American animated television series created by Joe Murray for Nickelodeon. The series centers on the surreal life of an anthropomorphic Australian-immigrant wallaby named Rocko as well as his friends: the gluttonous steer Heffer, the neurotic turtle Filburt, and Rocko's faithful more.

Cause its just awesome

Well, of course!

20 Mr. Bean The title character, played by Rowan Atkinson, is a childish buffoon who brings various unusual schemes and contrivances to everyday tasks. He lives alone at the address of Flat 2, 12 Arbour Road, Highbury, and is almost always seen in his trademark tweed jacket and a skinny red tie. He also usually more.

I used to watch mr. bean all the time when I was young with my family so it holds a special place in heart. I have watched all the episodes and even the movies a million times and I'll watch it a million times again and I laugh every single. My favorite episode is episode 10 mind the baby. Rowan Atkinson did a great job he can make you laugh without even saying anything. This is the funniest show ever and deserves to be number 1.

I remember watching this in my childhood days. It was a very funny TV show and a truly iconic classic. Mr. Bean's antic's always make me chuckle.

Even today in my worst days only Mr. Bean can make me still laugh like crazy, deserves top 5 at least

I had I helper treacher named Mr. Bean last year in 5 th grade best teacher ever.

21 Looney Tunes Looney Tunes is an American animated series of comedy short films produced by Warner Bros. from 1930 to 1969 during the golden age of American animation, alongside its sister series Merrie Melodies.

Watched it again recently and I forgot how funny this is. The voice acting is top notch, the way porky pig laughs always gets me.

The most funniest classic of all time. Still love Looney Tunes. The characters are just so hilarious and witty, especially Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny.

This should number one. South park is funny but Looney Tunes is a lot funnier.

I like it. Not as great as Tom & Jerry to me.

22 Modern Family Modern Family is an American television mockumentary family sitcom that premiered on ABC on September 23, 2009, which follows the lives of Jay Pritchett and his family, all of whom live in suburban Los Angeles. The show ended on April 8, 2020 after 11 seasons.

Come on, watch the first five episodes of any comedy, and this beats them all, by a mile. In the first episode, the Dunphy's schedule a time on a calendar to shoot their son. It's the best written comedy in history, and you fall in love with everyone on the show. The best bad guy is Claire, yet she has moments you love her. Curb you Enthusiasm and Arrested come close. But MF is the best ever.

This show's great but Gravity Falls is the best show on television ever, sorry but it's really true. Modern family's great but seriously..

This show is AMAZING. If you want true comedy, you must watch this show. Everyone is hilarious and I hope this show never ends because I love it so much

This is the best show on the entire plants! South Park does not deserve to be number 1!

23 Monty Python's Flying Circus

Probably 30% of every laugh I've had in my life, has been because of Monty Pythons Flying Circus. Hahaaahahaahajahahaahahaa

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

24 The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (also known as Billy & Mandy) is an American animated television series created by Maxwell Atoms for Cartoon Network, and is the 14th of the network's Cartoon Cartoons (albeit namely when it was part of Grim & Evil; the show is considered separate from Cartoon Cartoons otherwise). It follows two children named Billy — a slow-witted boy — and Mandy — the cynical best friend — who, after winning a limbo game to save Billy's pet hamster, gain the mighty Grim Reaper as their best friend in eternal servitude and slavery.

Scary children show

25 Parks and Recreation Parks and Recreation, informally known as Parks and Rec, is an American political comedy television sitcom starring Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope, a perky, mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks Department of Pawnee, a fictional town in Indiana.

I use to think The Office was the funniest sitcom set in an office until I started watching Parks and Recreation. All the characters are funny and seem to matter unlike in The Office.

It's very upsetting that no one knows about the wonders of Ron Swanson and the crew. This show is truly the best, so if someone sees this, please either vote for parks and rec or watch it because it'll get cancelled if you don't! Spread the word!

This is the best show EVER! Why is it so low? (43 right now) April Ludgate is the best character in any show I have watched and it will always stay that way.

Amazing show! Leslie and Ron's characters compliment each other in an amazingly hilarious way
