Great British Comedy: Bottom

Well, yes, I am keeping up with this series, this time with a more popular show. My last post was based on a bit more of an underground comedy, but this is a favourite among millions, including several thetoptens users. So, today, I will be telling you about: Bottom!

So, this is a very chaotic show with a lot of violence, made by the comedy genius duo consisting of Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson. The plot of the show is very simple: it follows Richie and Eddie (2 useless middle aged men on the dole) in their flat in Hammersmith, London. It's comedy gold mainly comes down to these 2 characters, with several other characters. Here they are:

Richard "Richie" Richard (Rik Mayall): Richie is a rather stupid slob who lives in the flat with Eddie. Throughout the show, he seems to be obsessed with women and sex, but it is made obvious he is a virgin, who is practically hopeless in love. Richie seems to do more housework than Eddie does. He is also quite religious (sometimes).

Edward "Eddie" Hitler (Ade Edmondson): Not great to name a character Hitler, but they did anyway! Eddie is Richie's flatmate. He is a very violent alcoholic. Eddie's friends Are Spudgun and Dave Hedgehog. He shares some similar characteristics with Richie, such as his obsession with women and his stupidity.

Spudgun (Steve O'Donnell): Spudgun is one of Eddie slobbish friends. He gets his nickname from "a trick he can do with a potato".

Dave Hedgehog (Christopher Ryan): Another one of Eddie's friends who appears regularly in the series. He, unlike most of the main characters, has a wife and a kid.

Richard "Dick" Head (Lee Corners): Dick Head owns Eddie and Richie's favourite pub. He doesn't usually get on well with them.

Mr Harrison (Roger Sloman): Eddie and Richie's landlord. He is also a shopkeeper.

Well, this series first aired in 1991 and ended in 1995. It had 3 amazing series that gave me hours of entertainment. It also had one of my all time favourite movies of all time, Guest House Paradiso. This show in 100% worth watching. Unfortunately, Rik Mayall (co-writer and Richie's actor) passed away in 2014.
