How The Chiefs Can Win The Super Bowl.

The Kansas City Chiefs have made the Super Bowl.. yes this is an accurate statement. No it’s not a dream. This is reality in 2020. Sure you can’t say that Luck wasn’t involved with the Dolphins beating the Patriots, Titans doing the dirty work for us and Houston choking a 24-0 lead. Yet they are still respectable in their own right and deserve to be here.
Who do they face? Why it’s none other than the San Francisco 49ers...
I’ll be honest I have a lot of respect for them. Both teams deserve to win it. And hey the Patriots aren’t here so everyone wins!
Both coaches are trying to put their demons to rest once and for all. For Andy Reid it’s the playoff choking narrative. For Kyle Shanahan its the 28-3 chokejob.

Kansas City also has another narrative they want to put to rest. Their 50 year Championship drought.
(Yeah the Royals won 2 World Series since but the Chiefs have a 50 year drought)

And as far as I can tell this is one of the most evenly matched Super Bowls I can remember. You can make the arguments for both sides and they are legitimate cases. It’s going to be a battle for both teams that’s for sure. Here’s some keys for how the Chiefs can win

Harrison Butker: Having a good kicker is essential in today’s NFL and Harrison Butker has proven himself to be a reliable asset for the Chiefs. He leads the league with 147 points and 34-38 on field goals with 3 misses coming over 50 yards. And just under 60% of his kickoffs are touchbacks (60-98) limiting the opponent’s return attack. Robbie Gould is also good but his overall percentage has been a bit lower

Kickoff Returns: With all the changes to the kickoff in recent years its become a bit of a lost art. However a bit of a shocking stat about the 49ers Punter Mitch Wishnowsky that really catches your attention: His kickoffs in the regular season were returned for 1,029 yards or one less than the most of any team in the NFL. That is good news for Chiefs returners Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman who have been known to have big returns whether it comes to being a scoring threat or putting KC in great field position.

Chiefs Defense
Okay so our defense isn’t the best but it’s okay because it’s peaking at the right time. They have gotten better and Tyrann Mathieu is playing some of the best football of his career and Chris Jones has had a huge impact when he came back and Frank Clark is playing well too. Keep in mind that they have allowed double digit deficits in both playoff games so far and they’ve managed to win both times

Receiving Core
Sure the Niners Defense is good I’ll give them that And they shut down Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins but have fun containing Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Mecole Hardman AND Patrick Mahomes who has been the leading rusher for KC in the playoffs. Richard Sherman has been good but how can he contain the Chiefs Speed?

Frank Clark: Lets not forget that Frank Clark has faced the San Francisco 49ers numerous times. He played in Seattle for years before being dealt to Kansas City. He’s a force to beware of rushing the passer and he can put heat on Jimmy Garoppolo with a wide range of moves to get beyond offensive linemen. If the Niners can’t contain Clark, it could be a long day for Jimmy G.

Head Coaching Advantage: Obviously it’s no secret that both Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan are masterminds on offense and know how to utilize their players talents. Both Coaches have been to the super bowl before However Reid has a slight edge here based on experience. He was an assistant coach in Green Bay and helped lead Brett Farve and the Packers to a Super Bowl title. He was also coach in Philadelphia when they lost to the Patriots. Shanahan last made the Super Bowl in 2016 in which the Falcons lost and 28-3 happened

Patrick Mahomes: Of course Patrick Mahomes has been a game changer for the Chiefs all postseason long. He can beat you in so many different ways both by passing the ball and by rushing. Fun fact: Mahomes has been the Chiefs leading rusher this postseason

Tyreek Hill: Simply put he’s the fastest guy in the league and one of the biggest game changers. This guy is pretty indefensible on the field. His ability to stretch the field and open up things for his teammates are simply unmatched. If you look at the numbers ever since Hill joined Kelce got more yards because he forces defenses to either cover him or cover Kelce. They go hand in hand. I don’t think anyone plays the position like Hill does. Oh and I think the closest guy to Hill is Mecole Hardman who’s also on the Chiefs. Have fun with that

With all that said it should be a good game I expect the margin to be less than a touchdown and the 49ers are a good team. I respect them but KC wants it More!!! It’s been 50 years since our last one!!

And now we pray

O Holy Football Gods
Please do not allow The 49ers to make big plays
Please do not allow the Chiefs to choke now
We have been cursed for many years and the Have not won the Super Bowl since 1970
We pray that thy Playoff demons of old shall not return upon us now
We ask for no injuries to our team
We ask for no refball to happen upon us at our expense
Let Mahomes’ throws be pure and plentiful and let them be caught by Chiefs receivers for touchdowns
And may the runs be long and plentiful and also score for touchdowns
We pray the Madden Curse May be broken once and for all by Patrick Mahomes
Chiefs Kingdom is ready. We have been ready for 50 years now
Please let us win the Super Bowl and hoist thy Lombardi Trophy in the air
In the name of Chiefs Kingdom

In the name of the run, pass, and thy Holy Gridiron we pray
Amen 🙏
