Top 10 Most Iconic Chester Bennington Moments

Considering that Chester Bennington's birthday is today, I figured we might look at some of the most iconic moments of his life, both as a frontman and as a human being.

The Top Ten
  1. Performing at a concert with a broken wrist

He had surgery on his wrist, but quickly went back to perform and make it clear that he still had a ton of energy left to give. I think it says a lot about him as a person that he went back to finish a concert even with an injury like that.

  2. Giving his speech at the Birmingham concert in 2017

At his last concert with Linkin Park, Chester made a memorable speech in the wake of the Manchester bombing incident, making it clear that he believed in unity and love. He asked other people at the concert to show affection toward someone else nearby.

  3. Encouraging fans to pick each other up at the Docklands concert

This was during a 2001 concert where a fan had fallen. This caused him to stop performing to make sure the fan in question was okay, and he told other people at the show to pick each other up if they fell in the mosh pit, which says a lot about his humility.

  4. Performing Crawling with Chris Cornell

This happened during a 2008 concert, and Chester himself also performed alongside Cornell during a cover of Hunger Strike that same year. Their voices blend well together, and Chester was truly starstruck during it.

  5. Performing with Mike Shinoda on Good Mythical Morning

  6. Being featured on Mötley Crüe's new version of Home Sweet Home

This cover was released in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and provides an interesting touch to the original song. I'm not the biggest Mötley Crüe fan, but I do like this version of the song, as well as the original. It's one of the only Mötley Crüe songs I like in any capacity because its lyrics aren't degrading to women, but I digress.

  7. Performing The Outsider by A Perfect Circle with Billy Howerdel

This was during a 2008 concert when Billy Howerdel of A Perfect Circle was performing as Ashes Divide, and Chester was invited onstage to sing this song. It's truly a memorable performance from start to finish and highlights just how powerful a singer Chester was.

  8. Making a cameo in Crank: High Voltage

  9. Making a cameo in Crank

Crank is another movie in which he had a cameo. He has about 30 seconds of screen time and is giving the main character advice about drugs. He also makes a brief appearance in the Crank sequel, with even less screen time than before.

  10. Making a cameo in Saw 3D

It sucks that he agreed to be in one of the worst movies in the franchise, but I digress. Originally, his character was going to survive and have slightly more screen time, but this was changed because he was busy, so instead, his character was killed off.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

Performing live with Jay Z at the Collision Course concert

  13. ?

Covering The Misfits' 20 Eyes live with Dead By Sunrise at the KROQ concert in 2009

  14. The Contenders
  15. Delivering his 17-second scream in Given Up

One of the most iconic screams in all of rock music, due to how long it's sustained. Several people have tried to replicate the scream and have failed. It requires a ton of lung power to pull off and can destroy your vocal cords if you're not careful enough.

In most live performances of Given Up, Chester performed the scream in two breaths to preserve his lungs for the remainder of the show and not blow out his vocal cords. He delivered the scream in its entirety in a few live performances, most notably the AOL one.

  16. Covering Adele's Rolling in the Deep live at the iTunes Festival in 2011

  17. Covering Nine Inch Nails' Wish live at Rock am Ring 2004

  18. Covering Deftones' My Own Summer live in 2002

  19. Shouting out Korn during their cover of One by Metallica

  20. Doing a skit with Linkin Park and Blink-182 on Funny or Die

  21. Performing Man in the Box with Alice in Chains

  22. Singing on Mark Morton's song Cross Off

  23. Being featured on the song System from the Queen of the Damned soundtrack

  24. Performing Hunger Strike with Chris Cornell

  25. Performing live at The Top of the Pops in 2001

  26. Giving energy during the Live in Texas concert

  27. Giving it his all during the Milton Keynes concert
